Another Year Comes to an End
As Harry started regaining conscious, he overheard his dad talking to Fudge.
"I'm very sorry James. You must understand. I didn't think the Dementors would do this…"
"You mean attack my son! Dumbledore warned you the dementors might do that! We had students here with tragic past—heck some had a horrible time last year!"
"I know, and just as I told Dumbledore, the order for Dementors to leave Hogwarts been made."
Harry heard someone leaving. Finally, Harry was able to open his eyes.
Everything was slightly blurred. Somebody had removed his glasses. He was lying in the dark hospital wing. At the very end of the ward he could make out a man covered in bandages.
"Pomfrey, I think the hero of the night finally waken," said the person at the bed: Sirius.
Pomfrey walked briskly over to Harry's bed, carrying a block of chocolate the size of a boulder.
"What happened?" Harry asked. "Uncle Padfoot—did you call me hero of the night?"
"I'll tell you later." Sirius promised looking at the jarred door. Harry understood. Fudge does not know what happened and they were keeping it that way. Harry guessed Fudge already been given a false tale.
Harry sat up and put his glasses back on. As Harry got a piece of chocolate to eat, Cornelius Fudge and James entered the ward.
"Harry, oh, good, you're awake." Fudge said. "You had us worried getting kidnapped to save a friend. Then having to save your uncles from that dreadful werewolf that showed up from the Forbidden Forest, and fighting off a hundred Dementors trying to get to your dad. I was just telling your father, I'm sure Mr. Lovegood would be very grateful to hear how you saved his only daughter."
"Right, I'm sure he will," James said, as though knowing Fudge was holding back more than just that. "Minister, if you don't mind, I like to talk to my son.""
"Very well. I have to meet Dumbledore anyways," Fudge said leaving.
"Poppy…" James said.
"I know," Pomfrey sighed. "Fifteen minutes." She left.
"Dad, where's Tonks and Uncle Moony?"
"Tonks is subbing for me for Astronomy as she promised," James said. "Your uncle is resting over there." James waved to a bed in the far corner. "Your spell will have him human for the rest of the night, but he'll be unconscious."
Harry nodded, glad to know his spell worked. "So Wormtail escaped?"
"Yes, unfortunately," James said.
"But you should be happy to know you'll see me often next year," Sirius said. "Fudge assigned me here to help with security."
"Really?" Harry responded.
James sighed. "Only until Fudge can think of better replacements than Dementors. Now eat up, Harry. You'll need that chocolate."
…
Harry was able to leave the hospital wing noon the next day. Harry met up with his friends at the Great Hall.
"Harry, thank god you're alright!" Hermione greeted them.
"Thanks guys." Harry said.
"Is it true? Wormtail kidnapped you?" Ron asked.
"Yeah."
"Hello Harry." Harry turned to see Luna.
"Luna, hey, are you looking for Ginny?" Harry asked.
"No, actually, I came over to thank you. I heard Pettigrew threatened to capture me if you didn't cooperate."
Ron's and Neville's jaws dropped hearing that.
"No one ever done anything like that for me before—except my father, of course," Luna explained.
"Hey, it's no problem," Harry said. "That's what friends are for."
"Thank you," Luna said before leading.
"Wormtail threatened to capture Luna?" Neville asked.
"Yeah. I guess he noticed when she's not around us or Ginny, Luna is by herself and thought of her as easy target if he couldn't get to me," Harry explained. "He also threatened Ernie and the others from Hufflepuff."
"No one from Slytherin, I bet," Ron said.
"Oh Ron, you should know by now not all students from Slytherin are evil," Hermione chided.
Harry shrugged. "Death Eaters were after Wormtail, and some have kids in Slytherin. I guess he didn't want to risk kidnapping an outcast."
"Hey Harry, is your uncle sick again or something?" Seamus asked as he and Dean showed up.
Harry looked at the staff table and saw his uncle was not at the seat. Which was odd because when he got up this morning Remus was already gone.
"I'll be back," Harry got up.
"Before you go…" Hermione tossed something, and Harry caught it. It was his sneakascope. "We don't want to risk you getting kidnapped again."
Harry nodded and pocketed it. With everything that happened, Harry forgot that part of it was because he left his sneakascope in his dormitory.
…
Remus's office door was open when Harry entered. He as feared everything being packed up.
"I'm guessing you came to talk me out of resigning," Remus greeted Harry.
"Uncle Moony, you can't…"
"Relax Harry, your father already talked me out of resigning," Remus said.
"He-He did?" Harry asked.
"He reminded me the only reason last night happen was because I kept my promise to him to look after you," Remus said. "It also helped he filled me in what you did last night to ease my guilt. I guess it's safe to say Lockhart did something useful after all last year."
"But if you're not resigning, why are you packing?" Harry asked.
"I'm moving down to my new office," Remus admitted. "After all, I only agree to teach one year to make sure my condition stays a secret and if I spend teaching full time, someone might wise up. But Dumbledore has agreed to let me tutor students into learning that charm that reverse werewolf transformation to third years on up since a third year proved he can learn the spell."
Harry wince. "Sorry about that."
"Don't be Harry," Remus said. "It's for that very reason I been trying to convince your father to teach it to you, and now we can make sure most of the school can use it to in case worse comes to worse. So, since you now know I am not leaving, do you want to help?"
"Sure," Harry said.
…
Nobody knew the truth of what happened the night Wormtail captured Harry except for Harry, Ron, Hermione, Neville, Tonks, Sirius, James, Remus, and as Harry found out: Dumbledore. Apparently, James made sure at least the Headmaster knew otherwise.
As the end of term approached, the weather remained perfect and cheerful. Remus continue teaching Defense Against the Dark Arts, but he made announcement that he be only part time substitute next year and if needed a tutor.
Only problem for Harry was that what Trelawney predicted. Wormtail had escaped using his uncle's transformation, and now was on his way to Voldemort. It did not help that with the end of the year comes the two week visit with the Dursleys.
The exam results came out on the last day of the term. Harry tied with Hermione in transfiguration, charms, and Astronomy and bested her in Defense Against the Dark Arts.
Percy had got his top-grade N.E.W.T.s; Fred and George had scraped a handful of O.W.L.s each. Gryffindor House had won the House Championship for the third year in a row. So, the end of the year feast took the decorations of scarlet and gold.
Then came time to go home. Everyone boarded the Hogwarts Express, including James although he gave his son privacy.
"Quidditch World Cup is this summer," Ron said. "Dad should be able to get tickets this year."
"You think Charlie and Bill will come home?" Harry asked.
"I be more surprise if they don't," Ron admitted.
"So, I guess that means I'll finally get to meet the famous oldest brothers?" Hermione asked.
"Oh yeah," Harry Ron and Neville said. As much as they talk about Ron's two oldest brothers, it is easy for them to forget that Hermione never met them.
They continue talking, playing some games and even challenge each other to see who can get the most favorable Berry Botts Every Flavor Beans until they reached King Cross station.
James escorted Harry through the barrier. The Weasleys and Longbottoms gave the Potters good byes before they headed their ways.
"You ready to greet your muggle uncle?" James asked.
Being in better moods than when he got on the Hogwarts Express, Harry said: "Yeah dad. Lets go."
A/N: And this story is complete. Thank you for your long patience. Too be honest I wanted to work on this story this month, but when the glitch started making it hard for readers to open new chapters/stories, I decided to wait until the glitch is fixed.
Anyways, I dedicate this chapter to an uncle of mine that died when the glitch was going on. We weren't as close as Harry was to Sirius and Remus otherwise you would be waiting longer for this story to be completed, but he was family and his death did jab a bit.
