Chapter Twelve
Olivia walked through the doors of her home and couldn't wipe the smile that was on her face. She could hear footsteps coming down the stairs and she knew Abby was about to ask a million questions.
"Look who is doing the walk of shame?! How was your date?" Abby asked as the duo headed to the kitchen.
"Amazing, wonderful, incredible, unbelievable. I could go on and on. It was the best first date I have ever been on. He took us to his family beach house that his dad originally built for his mom. We had a picnic on the beach and just talked. It felt so natural with him and I couldn't have asked for anything better."
"And clearly this date wait went straight into the night. I need the dirty, dirty details about the sex. It's been almost a year since you got any and please tell me that man gave you everything you needed."
Olivia felt her face flush thinking about Fitz and what happened last night. No one had ever pleasured her the way he did.
"I don't want to get into all the details but let's just say that man reached in places where I didn't think were possible."
Abby squealed and clapped her hands making Olivia laugh.
"I'm really happy for you, Olivia. You haven't wiped that smile off your face since you walked through those doors."
"I don't think I've ever been happier and for once in my life I'm not afraid of love. I know I should be scared because this has happened so quickly but I'm not. I'm trusting my instincts and I'm going to try to not second guess myself. I want this and I want it with Fitz."
Abby reached out and grabbed Olivia's hand. "After everything you went through with Edison, it's what you deserve but if he does anything stupid I will be after his balls."
Olivia didn't want to get emotional, but she gave Abby a hug. No matter what happened between her and Fitz, she knew she would always Abby.
"Enough about me though, how was your date with Stephen?"
Abby blushed just thinking about last night. Stephen had taken her to one of her favorite restaurants that she had only mentioned once. It really meant a lot that he was actually listening to her.
"It went well. We're taking it slow so no sleepovers just yet. He has been a breath of fresh air and I'm excited to see what's next with him."
Olivia smiled at her friend. As much as Abby seemed like a hardass at times, she still deserved love and it seems like Stephen could be someone special to her. The two of them were finally getting some well-deserved happiness in their lives.
Fitz parked his car into the garage and took a moment to think about Olivia and their date. He was really starting to fall for her and rather quickly. She was everything he ever wanted, and he already know that Mira loved her, and she loved Mira. He couldn't wait until he saw her again but now he couldn't wait until he had Mira in his arms.
He got out of the car and walked through the door. He could hear his mom and Mira in the kitchen.
"Daddy, you're home!" Mira came running into the living room and straight into Fitz's arms. There was nothing like getting hugs from his little girl.
"Oh, I missed you so much, lovebug!" Fitz held Mira tightly in his arms. It's been a long time since he spent the night away from Mira and it felt good to be back home with her.
"Hey Fitz. Welcome back. I take it everything went well last night," his mom said coming in after Mira. She gave him a knowing look. She knew her son and she knew the minute he had a night alone with Olivia, she wouldn't see him until the morning. She was happy for her son. He came back looking refreshed and happy which was all she wanted for him.
"Hey mom. It went well. We had a great time together," he replied. He didn't want to get into it with Mira there. Katherine understood and sent Mira off to grab the drawings that she made for Fitz to give them a minute to talk.
"So how was it?"
"It was the best first date of my life and if I have anything to say about it, it will be the last first date we both have. I knew she was incredible from the first time we met but spending that time with her just solidified everything."
Katherine smiled at her son. She never gave up hope that he would find that life changing love and it seems he found it with Olivia. They might not be in love now, but it was only a matter of time.
"Daddy look what I drawed!" Mira comes back with several sheets of paper. She had been working on her letters and was able to write her name.
"Oh, these are beautiful! I'm going to put some in my office and some on the fridge."
The trio sat down on the couch to take a moment to talk about what Mira and Katherine did the night before. It seems like they had a blast together and he loved how much Mira loved spending time with her grandma. He always knew that she was in good hands.
"So, we were discussing her birthday party that's in three weeks. Mira wants to invite a couple of kids from her class and Miss Liv. Isn't that right Mira?"
Mira bounced in her seat, "Yes Miss Liv has to come! She can be a pwincess too."
Fitz couldn't help but smile at how much Mira seemed to like Olivia enough to invite her to her birthday party.
"I've made a list of what we will need, and I've already got the cake covered. Your sister said she is willing to come and help with the decorating. That reminds me, she said to call her so you guys can catch up."
"So much to do for a fifth birthday party and I'll make sure to call her. I feel like a bad big brother for not checking in more often with her."
"She understands you've been busy but make sure you call her. The closer she gets to her due date, the more restless she gets."
"Daddy, let's play pwease." Mira had moved to the floor to play with her tea set. Fitz smiled and got on the floor with her. These were the moments he lived for. He loved being able to play with Mira any chance he could. His little girl will be turning five in three weeks and he couldn't believe how quickly time has flown by. He would send a text to Liv later asking her if she wanted to come but he knew she wouldn't say no. For the first time in his life, he felt happy and content about the present and the future.
Three weeks later…
It was Saturday, the day of Mira's birthday, and she couldn't be more excited. She was up extra early meaning Fitz was up early too. His mom had spent the night so she could help him with the set up.
He had been texting Olivia all morning with a play by play of what was going on. The past three weeks have been pure bliss. They managed to have one more date where they went to dinner at a steakhouse. It was simple and perfect. By the time the date was over, the two of them couldn't keep their hands off of each other. They also "ran into" each other at the park one Saturday morning where they spent time with Mira and Josie. They played in the playground and went out to brunch again. Fitz and Olivia were on cloud nine. There wasn't a day that went by that they didn't talk or see each other considering Mira was in her class. While they still haven't told Mira about the change in their relationship, Fitz thought today would be a good day to do so.
Olivia and Mira had created their own relationship outside of Fitz. While Olivia didn't show any special treatment to Mira, they still had their special moments together. At brunch, Mira asked Olivia to help her color and they spent the entire time coloring and having their own conversation without him. Fitz didn't mind and enjoyed watching his two favorite girls interact.
The ding from his phone brought him back to the present. It was a text from Olivia.
I can't wait to see you and Mira. I hope she likes her present. Are you sure you don't need any help? – Olivia
Fitz smiled and started to reply back. He didn't know what Olivia got Mira because she's been keeping it a secret from him, but he knew whatever it was, she would like it.
Don't worry about helping. We have it covered. We can't wait to see you either. – Fitz
"Hey big bro. Do you know where mom put the rest of the balloons?" His sister, Charlotte, walked into the kitchen where Fitz had been setting up more decorations. She is five months pregnant and having a baby girl.
"She should have them outside. She was putting them on chairs last time I checked but why don't you sit down and rest for a little bit. It's going to be a long afternoon with tons of kids running around." He walked over to her and rubbed her belly. He was so happy for his sister and her husband, Alex. They've been married for three years and he knew that his sister has never been happier.
"I'm pregnant, not invalid," she said but sat down anyways.
"I know but you still need some rest plus mom has it handled."
"She really knows how to throw a party, doesn't she?"
They both laughed at their mother's antics. She took the princess theme to an extreme. The house was filled with pink, white, and purple balloons. Mira had her own princess crown that has been on top of her head since she got dressed and only took it off when she took a shower. She had a pink dress on and black dress shoes. His mom even got a sash that said birthday princess on it.
"That she does. Just imagine what she does for your baby shower."
"Oh, she already has been planning for that! Ever since I taught her how to use Pinterest, all she has been sending me have been pictures for baby shower ideas."
"Good luck with that Charlie."
The two of them share a laugh and head out to the backyard to help their mom finish the set up. There was pink bounce house on one side and four tables set up. Each one had a center piece with a specific princess on it. The main table, which was where people could set down the presents, had the biggest center piece of Ariel who was Mira's favorite princess.
"Hey mom, do you need any help or is everything good to go?" Fitz checked his watch and it was a quarter to three meaning guests should be coming soon.
Katherine was showing Mira how to tie the last balloon on the chair. Mira liked being involved in decorating, so they gave her easy tasks and his mom didn't mind having Mira follow her around while she got things ready.
"Look daddy, all finished!" Mira walked over to grab his hand and pull him over to where she was 'decorating.'
"You did a wonderful job lovebug!" He placed a gentle kiss on her forehead and fixed the grown on her head that was crooked.
"Daddy when is Miss Liv comin'?" she asked.
"She will be here soon. I promise you."
Fitz was just as anxious to see Liv as Mira was. Katherine and Charlotte shared a look. It was going to be the first time that Charlotte would meet Olivia and she was excited to meet the woman who seemed to have captured her big brother's heart. She always worried about him ever since Mellie left him high and dry. He had finally found some happiness outside of Mira.
Thirty minutes later and the backyard was filled with four- and five-year old's running around or bouncing in the bounce house. Mira was giggling as she was running around with Maddie playing tag. Fitz was by the grill making everyone hamburgers and hot dogs. He heard the doorbell ring and he hoped that it was finally Olivia. He had been counting down the time until she arrived. His mother gave him a look and went inside to open the door.
The minute Olivia made her way to the backyard Fitz could feel her presence. It was like they were connected in a way he didn't think was possible.
"Miss Liv!" Mira took off running and straight into Olivia's waiting arms.
Olivia looked beautiful in a white sundress with strappy sandals and her hair was pinned back out of her face. She wasn't wearing much makeup just a bit of lip gloss and mascara. He couldn't take his eyes off of her.
Mira took Liv's hand and they walked over to drop off the present she had brought. Fitz watched the two of them as she greeted some of the parents and students from her class. You could tell how much she was loved by her students.
Olivia could feel his eyes on her, and she couldn't wait to go over to him but first she had to make sure she said hi to everyone. She finally walked over to where he was. She thought he looked so handsome and relaxed. He was wearing a light blue short-sleeve button down shirt and jeans.
"Hi handsome."
"Hi beautiful. God I wish I could give you a kiss right now."
Olivia smiled because she too wished she could give him a kiss but right now wasn't the right time.
"Come with me to take these to my mom. She is setting up everyone's plates with my sister."
The two walked over to Katherine and Charlotte who had all the kids in line to get food.
"Hi, I'm Charlotte but you can call me Charlie. I'm Fitz's sister and I'm guessing you are Olivia, the woman who has put a sparkle in my brother's eyes."
Olivia blushed. She wasn't one to take compliments easily. She shook his sister's hand and smiled at her.
"Nice to meet you, Charlie. I hope you don't mind me asking but when are you due?"
She smiled at Olivia's question and rubbed her belly. "I don't mind you asking. I'm due in January 10th so not much longer to go."
"Congrats! It must be exciting. Fitz told me it's your first child."
"Yes it is and my husband, Alex, should be here soon. He had to work late. He's a doctor at the Children's Hospital so he was checking in on some patients."
"Wow a doctor?! That's amazing. Do you need to sit down? I can gladly take over if you want." Olivia noticed that Charlie was moving around as she was standing, trying to get comfortable.
"Would you mind? I should probably sit down for a bit."
"No problem at all. You sit down and I'll help your mom."
Charlotte took a seat but continued to talk to Olivia. Fitz smiled at the interaction between his girlfriend and sister. Charlie hated Mellie and only tolerated her for his sake, so it was a nice change in pace for him.
"Daddy can you help me?" Mira was carrying her plate of food, a cup of some fruit, and a juice pouch. She was struggling to keep everything from falling. He grabbed Mira's plate and set it down next to him. Mira sat down next to him and proceeded to eat.
Once everyone had gotten their food, Olivia took a seat on the other side of Mira. His mom and sister sat in front of them.
"Thank you for joining us, Olivia. I know Mira and Fitz both appreciate it," Katherine said.
"I wouldn't want to be anywhere else." Olivia smiled at Katherine and then looked at Fitz who winked at her.
"I just want to say that you have been a wonderful addition to both of their lives. I haven't seen them happier. While I try to not meddle in Fitz's love life, I am really happy that he found you." Katherine stopped herself before she got too emotional.
Olivia placed her hand on top of Katherine's. "They've made much happier too. You've raised a wonderful son and I couldn't ask for anyone better to be in MY life."
Fitz didn't comment but just watched the two of them interact. It really meant the world that Olivia really got along with his mom and sister. He couldn't have asked for a better day and it still wasn't over.
About thirty minutes later, everyone had finished eating and it was time for presents. Mira was bouncing in her seat waiting for her dad to start passing the gifts her way. She first started with Lauren and Maddie's gift which was Barbie set of all the princesses. The dolls each had one different outfit change. Mira clapped her hands and gave her best friend a hug as a thank you.
For each gift, Mira gave a hug to each child who gifted her the present. She had a kind heart and wanted to make sure everyone knew how thankful she was. It made Fitz happy to know that he was doing a good job at raising her right.
The last gift was in a pink gift bag and it was Olivia's gift. Fitz kept it last on purpose. He knew that Olivia was stressed about the present, but he had a feeling it would be the best one she would receive.
"Okay Mira this is the last one."
Mira got excited and took all the tissue paper out. She gasped at what she found inside.
"Daddy it's founder!" Mira pulled out a stuffed animal which was Flounder, the yellow fish who was Ariel's best friend.
"Oh wow! It's Flounder! Look there's a card too. Do you want me to read it?" Fitz pulled out the white envelope.
"Yes please." Mira held her stuffed animal tightly in her arms.
Happy birthday Mirabelle. I hope you love your new friend. I think he would be a perfect companion to take with you on your trip to Disneyland! He can also meet your friends Ariel, Cinderella, Snow White, and all the princesses when you have dinner with them. I hope this makes your dreams come true.
Much love,
Olivia
Fitz was shocked. He couldn't believe Olivia made this possible. Inside the envelope were three tickets to Disneyland. She went above and beyond. He could kiss her right now but that would have to wait.
Mira got up from her seat and ran to Olivia who lowered herself to Mira's height. They gave each other a big hug and Mira started to cry.
"Oh honey. Why are you crying?"
"Tank you for my gift. I'm so happy."
Mira took off her crown and placed it on Olivia's head.
"Now you are pwincess."
Olivia didn't want to cry so she gave her a kiss on her forehead. She was so happy Mira loved her gift. She was going back and forth on what to give her, but Abby gave her the idea and it was perfect. She didn't want to tell Fitz anything about it because he would think it would be too much, but it wasn't.
After their little moment, Katherine cleared up the table. Olivia helped her take the gifts inside giving the two of them more time to talk.
"Olivia, I have to say thank you for your wonderful gift. You just made that little girl's day."
"Oh, you don't have to thank me. The look on her face was thank you enough. I really love that little girl."
"I can tell and like I told you before I couldn't ask for anyone better to be in their lives."
Katherine walked over to her and pulled Olivia into a hug. Olivia wasn't expecting it but hugged her back. She really liked being around Fitz's family. They welcomed her with open arms, and it was something she wasn't used to. Edison's family was the complete opposite, so this was a breath of fresh air.
Katherine and Olivia walked back outside with the tray's cupcakes Katherine made. Instead of a cake like they originally discussed, they agreed cupcakes would be easier. Katherine made a personal cake for Mira and everyone gathered around to sing Happy Birthday. The party wrapped up soon after that. Each kid went home with a goodie bag filled with treats. Overall, Fitz would call this a success. His little girl was happy and that's all that matters. He was thankful for everyone showing but he was also happy people were leaving so he could finally have some time alone with Olivia.
Fitz walked out the last of the party guests and closed his front door. He made his way to the backyard where his mom, his sister, and Olivia were still cleaning up. Mira decided to play in the bounce house.
"Hey sweetie. Did everyone leave?"
"Yeah mom I just walked out the last ones out. Hey Liv, can you help me bring these inside?" Fitz grabbed all the gift bags and handed some to Olivia. He needed some excuse to get her inside. Charlie knew exactly what her brother was doing but she just smirked at his as the two of them went inside.
"Where do you need me to put these?"
"We can take them upstairs to Mira's room. I'll organize them later."
Fitz and Olivia walked up the stairs and into Mira's room. Fitz and Olivia smiled at each other and he pulled her closer to him.
"Hi."
"Hi."
"Did I mention how beautiful you look today?" Fitz cupped her cheek and pulled her into a kiss. Olivia sighed into the kiss. This is what she was looking forward to all afternoon. Just a moment with him.
He knew Mira would be looking for her soon, so he slowly pulled away from her. He gave her three pecks on lips before pulling her into a hug.
"Thank you for coming and thank you for Mira's gift. I don't know how I could ever repay for it. She is on cloud nine today all thanks to you."
She pulled away slightly to look up at him, "You don't need to thank me for the present. I was happy to do it and she's happy because of you too. You did all of this for her. You're a great daddy."
"I'm glad you think so. I guess that also have a Disney date to plan all thanks to you."
The two of them laughed.
"Yes, we do but leave all the planning to me, mister. You don't have to worry about anything."
Before they could say anything else, they heard Mira calling out for Fitz.
"Duty calls plus we have something to share with her. If that's what you still want to do."
Olivia took a deep breath, "Yeah I still want to."
He smiled and grabbed her hand leading her downstairs.
"There you are daddy and Miss Liv!"
"Hey lovebug! We have something we want to share with you but let's go sit in the living room."
"Is it a'other gift?"
"Another sweetie but I guess you can call it a gift."
Fitz placed Mira in between the two of them. Liv and Fitz shared a look.
"Mira we wanted to tell you that Miss Liv and I are boyfriend and girlfriend. Is that okay with you?"
Mira looked confused for a minute and looked back and forth between the two of them. Olivia was getting worried because Mira didn't say anything.
"Mira, honey…"
But before Olivia could say anything, Mira got up from the couch and started clapping and jumping.
"Yay, yay, yay! I'm so happy!"
Olivia wanted to cry because she didn't expect this reaction from Mira. Mira ran to Olivia and wrapped her arms around Olivia.
"Oh sweetie. I'm so glad you're happy."
Fitz didn't want to be left out and wrapped his arms around his favorite girls. This moment was what he was looking forward to all day. They were all so focused on each other that they didn't notice Katherine taking a picture of this moment. Katherine knew Fitz was going to tell Mira about Olivia and she wanted to capture this moment. She quietly left the trio alone as she walked back into the kitchen. This was all she ever wanted for her son and it was all uphill from here. Now she had to get this picture framed.
AN: To Disneyland we go lol. Thank you everyone for all the love and support you have given me. Over 200 reviews and I'm still so shocked. I hope everyone is safe and healthy until next Monday.
XOXO
