Chapter Thirteen
One month later…
Fitz slowly opened his eyes as he heard his alarm ring. It was currently 6:30am on a Saturday and the only reason he was up so early was because it was finally the day they used Olivia's gift and go to Disneyland. Mira had been so excited the night before that it took him forever to get her to bed.
He rolled over to his side and stared at the picture of Olivia and Mira in matching t-shirts that said Daddy's Best Girls and had matching braids in their hair. It warmed his heart as he thought about that day.
Fitz was looking over things for work on a quiet Saturday afternoon. Olivia had picked up Mira earlier that day and took her for the day. He loved how well they got along and Mira had never had a mother figure in her life and even though Fitz didn't want to get ahead of himself, it seemed like that things were getting serious pretty quickly.
His phone dinged and it was a text from Olivia. It was a selfie that they took and he noticed that they changed out of their original shirts. 'Daddy's Best Girls' the shirts read.
'Having fun without you. don't miss us too much ;)' – Olivia
He smiled and while he did miss his two girls, he was happy that they had a bonding moment.
'Miss you guys so much so come back soon' – Fitz
Fitz smiled remembering that day and how they came back with several shopping bags. Olivia went all out for his daughter and that would be a moment he would never forget. Today would be another added memory to their list of family memories they were starting to have.
Olivia had everything taken care of or at least that's what she said and all he had to do was show up to her house with Mira. She had even invited his mother to come along but his mom decided it was best for them to bond even more so she decided to skip out this time around.
He had about an hour to get dressed and get Mira ready before they picked up Olivia so he got up from his bed to start his routine.
Thirty minutes later and he was waking up Mira to get her dressed and ready to go.
"Mira, baby it's time to wake up."
Mira groaned and turned to face away from him.
"No daddy. Sweep time."
Fitz chuckled. He knew this would be a problem but it was time to get her up.
"But lovebug, remember we are going to Disneyland with Olivia."
This woke Mira right up and she jumped out of bed quickly.
"Daddy, hurry! It's Disney day!" Mira said as she ran into the bathroom.
Fitz laughed at her antics and got out her outfit for the day. She was going to wear a white t-shirt that had Minnie Mouse on it and jean shorts. He laid out on her bed and went to knock on the door to let her know that he would be downstairs if she needed anything. Olivia told him to make sure he packed a backpack with snacks, water, and a change of shirt just in case.
About forty minutes later, the pair were on their way to Olivia's house. Mira was a full ball of energy and she couldn't wait to get to Disney.
"Daddy, daddy! It's Liv's house!" Mira exclaimed as he pulled into Olivia's driveway where she was already waiting for them. She was also wearing a Minnie Mouse t-shirt, courtesy of their girl's day, and jean shorts.
She walked up to their car with a backpack in tow. She had spent all morning packing snacks, sunscreen, more water, and of course an extra t-shirt. She also had a surprise for Fitz.
"Good morning Grants. How excited are you, Mira?" Olivia asked as she got into the car.
"So excited!" She exclaimed as she clapped her hands.
"Now before we go, do you want to show your dad the gift we got him?" Olivia smiled at Mira.
"Yes! Yes! Yes!"
Fitz was confused at what they could've gotten. Olivia opened her backpack and pulled out a white t-shirt with Mickey Mouse on it. It matched perfectly with what the girls were wearing today.
"Now you're matching with us!" Olivia handed him the shirt so he could change. He smiled at her thoughtfulness. She was really going all out and he knew that this was only the beginning of this Disney adventure.
"Well I guess I have to change now," Fitz decided to be a tease and unbuckled his seatbelt to switch out his shirts.
He pulled his shirt off and looked over at Olivia who was biting her lip to stop a groan coming out of her mouth. He smirked and slipped on the Mickey Mouse shirt.
"Okay now who's ready for Disney?!" he asked.
"Me! Me! Me!" Mira clapped her hands in the back. Olivia and Fitz laughed at her antics. He grabbed her hand and intertwined it with his as they drove off.
They pulled into the parking lot of Disney and Mira was getting impatient to get out of the car.
"Daddy, Liv, let's go! It's Disney time!"
"Okay Mira hold on. We need to grab our things and I have rules for you to follow. Make sure you either hold my hand or Olivia's hand so you don't get lost. Don't run ahead of us either okay. If you do get lost, go to an adult that works there."
Mira looked at her dad with big eyes and shook her head letting him know that she understood. Olivia stood back and let him handle this. She was taking out the sunscreen to make sure they all were covered.
"Now time for sunscreen." Olivia shook the bottle that she had in her hands and the Grants groaned.
"Oh come on you two! I don't need you walking out of here looking like lobsters. Mira come here sweetie, let me get you first."
Olivia quickly lathered the sunscreen on her arms, legs, and face. She turned to Fitz and handed him the bottle.
"What? You're not gonna help me?" Fitz gave her a teasing look.
"Nope. You mister can do it yourself." Olivia laughed as he playfully sighed and put on some sunscreen.
"Okay now we are finally ready to go inside." Fitz handed the sunscreen back to Olivia. Olivia grabbed Mira's left hand and Fitz grabbed the right. To anyone looking at them right now, they looked like any other family.
XXXXXX
About fifteen minutes later, the trio was finally inside Disney and Mira's excitement grew even more. They made their way down Main Street where she spotted the Minnie Mouse ears.
"Daddy, look!" Mira pulled Olivia and Fitz towards the stand.
"Can I pwease have them?" Mira gave her best puppy eyes to Fitz who was already getting out his wallet.
Mira grabbed a pair for herself and grabbed one for Olivia.
"Here Liv. We match!"
Olivia smiled at the sweet gesture and noticed the Mickey Mouse ears and grabbed them for Fitz.
"Well if we are wearing some ears so is your dad!"
"Yes!"
Mira and Olivia held hands and walked over to the register where Fitz was paying.
"Now you have ears too, daddy!"
Fitz couldn't deny his girls anything so if they wanted him to wear ears, he will wear the ears. Olivia smiled at him while he put them on to match them. Every time he did something that Mira asked Olivia falls for him more. He always put her needs above his and if wearing ears made Mira happy, he would and she really liked that about him.
"You guys are such a cute family," the cashier commented while she rang them up.
Not wanting to correct her because that's what they felt like, Fitz said thanks and grabbed Mira's other hand and they continued to walk deeper into the park.
"Let's take a picture of you two before we go on some rides," Olivia said as she got her phone out while they were standing in front of the castle.
Fitz smiled and bent down do Mira's level while she gave him a kiss on the cheek and then pulled her onto his shoulders for another picture. Olivia's heart melted at the cute picture she took. Fitz held out his hand once the picture was taken.
"Okay now your turn!"
She walked over to Mira's side but this time she was the one who gave Mira a kiss on the cheek. It didn't stop there, the two of them decided to do silly faces, bunny ears, and even one with Mira on her back. Watching them get along meant everything to Fitz and it was one of the reasons he was falling in love with her.
"Do you guys want a picture together?" someone asked.
"Yes please." Fitz handed over the phone to her and picked up Mira while Olivia stood on the other side. Olivia put her arms around his waist and smiled to the camera.
"Here you go. Cute family!"
"Thanks."
This was the second time someone said that and it just felt like a sign to Fitz that this was his family and no one was going to take that away from him.
Olivia had everything planned out for them so he just let her take the lead. She had gotten them Flash passes to use on some rides. They headed straight into Fantasyland and Olivia got them in line for "It's a small world."
They got into the shorter line that was being used for people who had Flash passes. As they got closer to the boat that they would be riding, Mira got extremely excited and jumping up and down.
"This is going to be so much fun!"'
Olivia and Fitz laughed at her excitement. This was just the beginning of the day but it was already the best day in Mira's short lived life.
"Liv, I'm blaming you for getting this song stuck in my head." Fitz said as they got off the ride.
Liv laughed and started singing the song with Mira just to tease Fitz.
"It's a small world after all, it's a small world after all, it's a small world after all, it's a small, small world," they sang together at the top of their lungs.
"Come on Mira, let's leave your dad with his favorite song."
The two of them giggled and ran away from Fitz causing Fitz to shake his head and run after them. He quickly picked up Mira and flipped her upside down when he caught up with them.
"Liv save me, save me," Mira screamed out in laughter.
Olivia playfully tried to grab Mira out of Fitz's arms but he quickly moved out of the way and ran away from her. She ran after them and Fitz set Mira down who was catching her breath.
"That was not nice, daddy." Mira pouted and folded her arms acting as if she was angry.
"I'm sorry lovebug." He bent down and gave her a kiss.
"Okay where to next," Fitz asked.
"Alright next up is Alice in Wonderland which is in this direction."
Alice in Wonderland was a simple ride and all three would be able to get into one cart. Since Fitz was the tallest, he sat in the back, while Olivia and Mira sat in front. As they moved along the ride, Mira pointed out several different characters from Alice to the Queen of Hearts. It was a simple ride but Mira still loved it.
Fitz helped the girls get out of the ride and the trio continued to move onto the next rides in Fantasyland. They made a stop at Dumbo the flying elephant, where Mira and Liv decided to ride without Fitz which was fine by him. He enjoyed waving at them each time they passed the spot he was waiting at. The smile on Mira's face is unlike any other and he will forever be thankful that Olivia had planned this for them.
"Daddy, daddy, did you see me?!" Mira ran and pulled Olivia along with her to Fitz.
"Yes I did! Did you have fun?"
"It was so fun!"
"Okay Liv what's next?"
Olivia pulled up the app on her phone and pointed them into the direction of the Mad Tea Party which were the spinning teacups. It was getting close to lunch time so she figured this would be the last ride before they went to eat.
The trio sat into in the teacup with Mira in the middle of the two of them. The ride slowly started to move and Mira was a fit of giggles.
"Spin daddy spin!"
"Spin? Okay," Fitz said grabbing the center wheel and their teacup started spinning slowly.
"Faster, faster!"
"Okay you asked for it." He used all his strength to move the wheel and they spun faster and faster. Olivia and Mira kept bumping into each other and laughing.
"Fitz….I…can't…" Olivia was trying to catch her breath as he spun it more and more.
"Daddy… no… more…" Mira said as she tried to stop laughing.
"More?"
"NO!" the girls screamed. Soon after the ride started to slow down and they could finally catch their breath.
"I'm so dizzy," Mira said as she waited until it was her turn to get out. Fitz got out first and held his hand out for Olivia who graciously took it.
"Alright lovebug, let me help you out." Fitz pulled Mira out and decided it was best to carry her out just in case she fell.
Liv checked her watch and it was perfect timing to go eat.
"Alright, I say it's break time and time for lunch."
"Yes! I hungry."
"It's I'm hungry," Fitz corrected her.
They walked over to the shade so Olivia could figure out the direction of the food place. They were going to eat at the Red Rose Taverne which was perfect for Mira since she could be a picky eater at times when she is out and was located in Fantasyland.
It was a beautiful building and had lots of aspects from Beauty and the Beast. There was the red rose in the glass that Mira gladly pointed out to everyone when they entered. They could either sit inside or out but they decided to sit inside since they would be out walking around the rest of the day.
Mira ordered a kids cheese pizza that came with fruit, water, and a Danimals smoothie. Olivia wanted to be a little healthy since she knew that they would be snacking on more food later so she ordered a chopped salad while Fitz decided to go with a classic burger and fries.
They enjoyed their lunch and talked about what their day would contain. Mira was still as lively as ever, ready to see some of the princesses later on in the day. Olivia helped Mira cut up her pizza and even got her to eat some of the salad Olivia was eating.
"Wow you are magic! I have been trying to get her to eat veggies and it's always a fight with her," Fitz watched in awe.
"You just don't have the magic touch," Olivia said while she winked and continued to talk to Mira about what she was excited to see.
Fitz felt like he was on cloud nine. He was in the most magical place on earth with his two favorite girls. He couldn't ask for anything more and the day wasn't even over yet. The more that he thought about it, the more he realized how Olivia changed his life for the better. She came into his life out of nowhere and after two months of dating, there was no way he was going to let her go.
"Fitz, you ready to go?" Olivia looked at him giving him a questioning look wondering what was on his mind.
"Yes let's go." He grabbed his stuff, kissed Olivia's cheek causing her to smile, and grabbed Mira's hand. It was time to get on with the rest of the day.
AN: Part two of their Disneyland adventure will be up next week! I'm so happy everyone is enjoying my version of Olitz. Thank you for the support. Stay healthy and safe.
