Chapter Three- Shopping

or

First Encounters

A few hours later...

"So, let me see if i understand this. This 'mall' is a building with various stores where you can get different items? And 'shopping' is what you do to get said items?" says Caliban, assuming a thinking pose. He is in the main floor of the local shopping mall, with Gwen, Marnie, and Sophie, the latter of which is trying to drag him to various clothing shops, the others trying not to laugh.

"Basically, yeah. What do you think, Caliban?" Sophie asks, looking expectantly at him.

"It's loud and crowded, honestly. Wish there weren't so many people here. But other than that, it seems nice." he replies self-consciously, rubbing the back of his head with his hand.

"You'll get used to it, Caliban. Especially if you get some friends. Fun thing about the mall is that you can just hang around the place, even if you're not shopping for anything." Marnie says reassuringly.

"I see. This is quite the experience, for me, honestly."

"I can see that, Caliban. Now, would you like anything to eat, while we're here? A soda?" Gwen asks, getting a blank expression in response.

"What's a soda?" he inquires, not sure what to think.

"It's a type of drink. There's many different brands and flavors, so you can find out what you like. Come on, let's get some lunch. Where would you like to eat?" Sophie asks, getting a noncommittal shrug in response.

"Let's go with some pizza. It's to DIE for... And that's just a figure of speech, by the way, so don't worry, Caliban." Marnie says, explaining what she meant, upon seeing his hardened expression.

"Good to hear, Miss Piper. I must admit, I was a bit... unsettled, when you said that." he replies in relief.

"Oh, Cali... We have been looking for you, young man. I see you managed to find the Cromwells, after all. Such a naughty boy..." A sultry feminine voice says, interrupting the group's conversation, Caliban immediately being on-guard for a fight.

"I should've known you'd be the first they sent, Demona. I won't ask what you're doing here, because i know, already. I'm not returning. Not until you and your cult are eradicated." He responds angrily. The Pipers turn their heads to the source of the voice, seeing a green-skinned female troll walking towards them, hips swaying seductively.

"Oh, poo... You're not going to come back peacefully? And here I thought we had something... 'Special'... You're no fun. But that's not why I'm here, Cali. I'm just delivering a message to the Cromwells. Don't get in our way. We would hate for someone in your family to get... hurt, after all. Enjoy your vacation, Cali. At least, while it lasts, that is. Bye!" she says menacingly, when a door in the air opens, allowing her to waltz in, before it disappears.

"What was that about?" a few bystanders ask among themselves, whispering in confusion.

"We need to go. Now. Not the time for explanations." Caliban says urgently, eyes darting everywhere in fear and paranoia, looking for more enemies.
