Authors notes
-This chapter is also quite short, as I said in my last chapter this one and the other were supposed to be in the same chapter but the feel was too different so I made them separate. I Promise the next chapter is longer, I am assuming that the whole story will be about 10,000-13,000 words by the end.
-I am also hoping to post a chapter of this story every week or so, I am really enjoying this story and am splitting time between this one and a few of my other ones.
The next day
The team is sitting at an outdoor table at a café, early in the morning.
"So, you're telling me that Spider-man was there?" Zack asked, standing up slamming his hands down on the table.
"Well, that's the name the officer yelled." Carmen answered, looking up at him.
"Wait, he tried to steal the diamond too?" Ivy asked with her hand on her chin.
"Looked that way."
"Isn't Spider-man a superhero?" Zack asked sitting back down in his chair.
"How much do you know about this super-hero?" Ivy retorted.
"He… umm… he can swing on webs and catch muggers. He also teamed up with iron man once, I think." Zack hesitated, slouching in his chair.
Player chimed in. "I don't know if he is a hero; he doesn't have the best rep, he is in the police database and they are not best friends."
Ivy put her feet up onto the table. "Was he working with V.I.L.E then?"
"No, not unless they stab their operatives in the back literally now. They also would not use someone who has a public name. He must be working for someone else who is probably a competitor with V.I.L.E." Carmen sighed.
"Should we go after him, ask him some questions?" Ivy asked, pulling her feet off the table looking a bit concerned.
"I think we should. Player?" Carmen lifted her hand to her ear.
"I'll work on it, but there is not much to go off of. I will check in later."
Player hung up.
"Can we please go look around? Like, explore the city. V.I.L.E. won't do anything until tomorrow or the night after now and we still don't even know what they are going after." Zack asked fiddling with the fork that was on the table.
"I don't see any harm in it. Ivy?" Carmen turned around to face her redheaded friend.
"A day by myself exploring the city sounds nice."
"That's settled then, we can go our separate ways for now, and meet back here in two hours. Player should know where to find Spider-man by then." Carmen got up from the table.
"Sounds great!" Zack exclaimed.
"Dibs on the car!" Ivy reached across the table and grabbed the keys and darted for their red car in the parking lot.
"Aww, come on." Zack yelled as he jumped from his chair.
Carmen just giggled as she Put a ball cap on and saluted a goodbye to the siblings.
Zack was now walking down the sidewalk, still miffed about the whole car thing, just as Spider-man swung by along the buildings still being noticeably weary of his back.
He was late for school and was swinging because it was faster.
"Can't be late, can't be late." Peter warned himself.
Zack did not even notice Spider-man originally but as soon as he had gotten to a road and was stepping forward to cross, his feet were webbed to the ground.
He reached down to get his foot free just as a large truck flew by. It would have hit him if he had crossed just then.
He looked up surprised by the save, and saw Spider-man swinging along the buildings, he had just saved Zack with his spider-sense, not even really trying.
Zack thought this was his only chance to follow him, brushing off the fact that he had just saved his life.
Zack looked both ways this time and ran across the road trying to follow him.
Spider-man looked around for civilians and jumped into an ally not seeing Zack watching from afar.
Normally Peter's spider-sense would warn him his identity was being threatened but he was too preoccupied to notice. He quickly pulled a backpack off the wall that had his spare clothes in it, he pulled them over his suit putting his gloves and mask in the pockets. Peter ran out of the alley and across the street to his high school.
Zack was in awe, 'Spider-man was a teenager?'
He did not see Peter's face or anything, he just saw that Peter had run out of the alley where Spider-man went in.
Zack walked up to the school reading 'Midtown High' over the front entrance. He looked over the grounds and from what he could see from the gate, there was a brown-haired boy running up to another boy with reddish hair.
Zack was sure that it was the same guy who had run out of the alley, so he decided to start back to the cafe so he could tell his teammates what he had discovered.
Authors notes 2
-I would say that this one was not as good as my first chapter but I needed it to move the story along. hope you still enjoyed it.
-I realize that most of the talking is back to back and rushed. I had originally written it like a play, like one of my other stories, so it was hard to edit it and change it back.
-I do not mind constructive criticism or ideas for future chapters but I have written the main plot for most of it.
