Epilogue

Five years later…

"Hey Liv. Are you ready to go? The kids are getting reckless," Fitz asked from outside the bathroom door.

Olivia looked down at pregnancy test she just took. They weren't planning to have a fourth child but clearly God had other plans for them. She wiped away the tears and pulled herself together. She wrapped the pregnancy test with toilet paper and put it away. She wouldn't tell Fitz just yet. She wanted to plan something special for him.

So much had changed within the five years, between a new baby and Fitz finally making partner at the law firm the Grant family kept busy but they always made time for each other which is why they were in at the beach house for a week.

They have been married for five years now and within those five years they have had another child. Mariah Carolyn Grant was born on April 10th and would be turning four years old next month. They were all ecstatic when they found out Olivia was pregnant for the second time. It felt as though their family felt even more complete. Her second pregnancy was different than her first with Olivia suffering more of morning sickness than with Mason but she still enjoyed being pregnant.

Mason was turning six soon and was an active little boy who loved following his older sister around. Mirabelle was now eleven years old. She was a typical pre-teen but she still loved being around her family and is extremely protective of her younger siblings.

"Liv? You okay in there?"

Olivia shook herself from her thoughts and walked out of the bathroom. Fitz was looking at her with a worried expression. He was wondering what was going on with her. She had been sick before they arrived at the beach but she had seemed to be doing better.

"Sorry babe. I didn't mean to worry you. I'm ready to go," she said giving him a quick peck on the lips and started walking down the stairs.

"Mama!" three year old Mariah said when she saw Liv. The kids were in the living room watching cartoons.

"Hey baby. Are you guys ready to go to the market?"

The family was scheduled to go to the local farmers market where they would pick up some fresh fruits and vegetables. The market would also be selling other items that people have made by hand. It was something that Olivia and Mira were looking forward to.

"Yeah! Let go!" Mason said jumping up from his seat. He was tall for his age and as he got older his hair was getting curler mirroring his father's hair.

The Grant family got in their car and made their way down to the market. The car ride was noisy but Fitz and Olivia wouldn't want it any other way. This was their family and it was about to grow just a little bigger. They parked their car and Fitz pulled out the stroller for Mariah.

"Remember that you don't go anywhere without us okay," Olivia raid to their kids. Mason was known to run if he saw something interesting.

Mira sighed, "Yes mom and I'll watch Mason."

"Thanks sweet pea. Mason, do you have your listening ears on?" Olivia looked over to her boy who was already looking around the area. He was enamored by all the people and the booths that were waiting for him. He turned around when he heard his name.

"Yes mommy. I hold sissy's hand," he said grabbing Mira's hand so they would be able to explore together.

"Thank you. Alright Fitz is Mariah all buckled up?"

"Yes she is. We are ready to go."

They stopped around different booths and picking out fruits and veggies. Olivia and Fitz would each help the kids pick out what they needed. They always wanted to ensure that the kids felt involved in anything that they were doing. Fitz was going to be grilling tonight to celebrate their soon to be fifth wedding anniversary. They didn't want to go all out. They just wanted some quality time with their family.

"Okay I think we have enough for tonight. Do you want to split up for a bit?" Olivia asked. She knew that Mason was ready to do some running around and there was a park right next to the market.

"Yeah I'll take Mason to the park. Do you want me to take Mariah? I'll also stop by the car to drop all these bags off."

"Yeah I think she wants to go with you. Mariah, do you want to go with daddy to the park?"

"YES!" she said clapping her hands.

"Okay well that settles it. Mira and I will continue to walk around," Olivia said. She gave Fitz a peck on the lips much to their kid's dismay and he went on his way with the two youngest. She smiled at the scene in front of her. She couldn't have picked a better father for her children. He was loving, supportive, and so hands-on with everything that their children do.

"Alright sweet pea. I think I saw some jewelry and some handbags that have our name on them," Olivia said putting her arm around her ever growing girl. She couldn't believe that this was the same little girl she meet almost six years ago.

The two of them walked around and moved around the different booths. They came across some beautiful handbags.

"Mom can I get one?" she asked picking up the light pink handbag. It was small and would be perfect for someone Mira's age.

"Yes you can. I think that one is perfect for you. It even matches the shirt you're wearing," Olivia said with a smile on her face. She paid for the purchase and they continued to walk around. She loved moments where she could spend time with Mira. She was getting older and Olivia knew that sooner or later Mira would rather be hanging out with her friends rather than her family.

"Mom, what happened to my real mom?" Mira asked shyly. She had always wondered what happened. She knew she didn't come out of her mom's tummy and she felt that she was old enough to know what happened.

Olivia sighed and wished Fitz was with her for this conversation. She decided they would head to the park to have this conversation together. It was something she knew that would come up eventually but she just didn't think it would be coming this soon.

"Let's go find your dad so we can talk about this together okay. But just remember that I am always your mom whether or not you came out of me, okay," Olivia said lifting Mira's chin up. She pulled her into a hug and they walked over to where Fitz was chasing Mariah then lifting her up while Mason tried to "save" his sister.

"Mama sabe me!" Mariah yelled in laughter. Mira decided to run ahead of her mom and pretended to "save" her from their dad.

"Tank you sissy!"

"I got you little sis," Mira said smiling at her sister.

"Hey babe. Everything okay?" Fitz asked. He wasn't expecting to see them for at least another thirty minutes.

"Yeah but I think Mira has a question that we both need to be present for."

Fitz looked confused at his girls but Olivia gave him a look and he knew that this was important. They sat on the bench that was in front of the playground to make sure that they would be able to watch the other two kids. Mason held onto his sister's hand as he helped her up the stairs to go down the slide. He was a loving older brother to Mariah and extremely protective which reminded Olivia of Fitz.

"Okay lovebug tell me what's going on," Fitz said.

"I…want…to know what happened to my mom," Mira said looking at her hands.

Fitz and Olivia shared a look above her head. They had a silent conversation before he decided to answer.

"Well your mom felt that you would be better off staying with me. It doesn't mean she didn't love you. She just wasn't ready to be a mom," Fitz said trying his best to explain the situation without going into full detail. Eventually when Mira was much older, they would give her more information.

"Are you sure she loved me?" Mira asked looking at her dad and mom.

Olivia sighed and smiled, "of course she loved you. How could she not? You are the sweetest, smartest girl I know. You have the biggest heart and love so big. Anyone would be lucky to have you as their daughter and I am thankful every day you chose me to be your mom."

Mira sighed, "will you guys ever leave me?"

"No of course not. We will always be here for you. Us and your siblings," Fitz said trying to reassure her. They pulled her into a hug and each gave her a kiss on her cheek.

"We love you so much so never doubt that," Liv said.

"I love you guys too," she said.

"Now let's go play with your siblings before we head home," Fitz said. They all got up and joined the younger kids on the playground. Fitz looked at his family and every day he counted his blessings that this was all his.

Later that day the Grant family was out on the patio. Olivia was keeping the kids preoccupied by playing Candyland while Fitz was grilling some burgers and hot dogs but also participating in the game. It was boys against girls and laughter ensued when Mariah did her victory dance when she "won" the game. She loved to dance whenever she got the chance. She was a spitfire even at just three years old. Their lives were definitely more fulfilled with the newest addition. Olivia put her hand on her stomach thinking about the baby that they would be having and how he or she would fit into their family.

"Okay little miss dancing queen, let's sit down because food is finally ready!" Fitz said as he placed everything down on the table. Olivia helped Mariah while Fitz helped Mason with preparing their plate. Mira was now more independent and was able to help herself.

"Mom can I give the blessing?!" Mason said raising his hand as if he was in class.

"Yes of course you can," Olivia said laughing at her son.

"Thank you God for our food and the toys I play with and my sisters and mommy and daddy. Amen," he said all in one breath.

Olivia and Fitz laughed at their son before digging in. Their table was chaotic with all the little voices but they wouldn't want it any other way. They were blessed with beautiful, healthy children who loved deeply and fiercely. These past five years has taught them that family is everything. They wouldn't take these moments for granted especially with Mira growing older and into a teenager.

About half an hour later after everyone finished eating, they all went back inside to get changed to spend some time on the beach before the sun set. Olivia knew that this would be the time that she told Fitz about the baby. Sunsets and sunrises will always be something special to them and it was time to add another memory during a sunset. She stood in front of their bathroom mirror in her bathing suit and turned to the side rubbing her belly. She smiled thinking about how in a couple of months her belly would grow.

"Liv you ready to go?" Fitz asked coming into the bathroom. Luckily for Olivia, he didn't pay attention to what she was doing.

"Yes I am. Are the kids ready? Do you have the sunblock?" she asked.

"Yes and yes now let's go before the kids decide to leave without us," he said.

She shook her hand and grabbed his hand. They made their way downstairs to find their kids with their floaties on and by the door anxiously waiting on their parents. But before they walked out Olivia made sure that sunscreen was on every single one of them. The minute they hit the sand, all three kids went running off with Fitz right behind them. Olivia shook her head at her family with a smile. She had everyone's towels and found a place to set their things down. She then ran right after them with Fitz catching her by her waist twirling her around.

The kids laughed and started splashing their parent with water causing a full blown water fight between parents and kids. Fitz pulled Mira up and then threw her into the water. Mariah was in her mother's arms pouncing around. Mason would try to "throw" his dad into the water and Mira would try and help. There was just so much love and laughter between them. It felt really nice to have these fun filled moments.

Olivia got out of the water while the others stayed in the water. Fitz followed right after her but told Mira to keep an eye out on her siblings and they couldn't go deep in the water. She set out the towels so the two of them could sit down for a bit. He pulled her into him and the two of them watched their kids splash each other with water.

"We got lucky didn't we?" Fitz asked.

"Yeah we did. I'm glad you took this week off and got to spend it here with us."

"No place I would rather be. You and our kids are the most important thing in my life," he said and gave her a peck on the lips.

"Oh look the sun is setting," Olivia pointed out.

"That it is. I love sunsets here."

"Fitz, I have something to tell you. What do you think about adding another one to the mix?" she asked looking up at him.

Fitz quickly turned his head looking at her.

"Are you…pregnant?"

She smiled, "I am. I found out this morning."

He started tearing up and pulled her into a kiss. He put his hand on her still flat tummy and then pulled away.

"I can't believe we're having another baby!"

Before they could say anything else, there kids came running towards them. They looked at each other and then at their silly kids. They shared a knowing smile then watched the rest of the sunset together. They didn't know what the future would hold but they knew that if they had each other everything would be okay. Through all the ups and downs life threw at them, they found themselves in each other.
