Disclaimer, I own none of these song lyrics.
Always the early riser, Nigel woke up with Chad's arms and legs wrapped around him. This wasn't too surprising because Nigel was always the little spoon when they were in bed. Making a big yawn, he managed to wake up Chad as well.
"Morning, my little busy bee." Chad whispers in Nigel's ear.
"Good morning to you, too." Nigel replies, giving Chad a kiss.
Suddenly, an alert goes off in Nigel's phone. He tries to get up, but Chad isn't letting go.
"Um, sweetie do you mind…"
"Come on, your phone can wait. Stay with me, I love morning cuddles." Chad whines.
"I'll be right… back." Nigel manages to slip out of Chad's arms and gets up to answer his phone. Chad sits up in the bed, hungrily staring at Nigel's bare ass.
"Oh, ha. It's just a reminder about karaoke tonight." Nigel says to Chad, who give Nigel a curious look.
"Karaoke? You're going out tonight?" Chad asks, in an accusatory tone.
"Yeah, remember? I told you about this last week. Lime Ricky's is doing a special karaoke night. The 50th anniversary of The Doors first album. It's all songs by The Doors." Nigel defensively replies.
"Oh… yes you did mention you were doing that. Who is going to be there?" Chad asks, wanting to make sure he knows who Nigel's gonna be with.
"Oh it's just the old gang. You remember them, right? Hoagie? Wally? Abby? Kuki?" Nigel asks, not knowing how Chad feels about them.
"Oh yeah, them. Yeah they're good." Chad replies.
"You can come if you want." Nigel offers.
"I'm fine. Not really into karaoke. But you can have a night out. I'm just gonna run some errands, maybe just have a quiet night in." Chad replies.
"But it's cool if I go?" Nigel asks.
"Yeah you can go. But for right now…" Chad puts his arms out and gives Nigel the come hither motion. "Come to me." As Nigel saunters forward, he wraps his arms around Chad's neck, who presses his hands on Nigel's ass.
For the rest of the morning and a good chunk of the afternoon, Chad and Nigel spend their time in bed. Eventually when Chad is out running his errands, it's time for Nigel to go to karaoke.
Arriving at Lime Ricky's, he runs into Hoagie and Abby in the parking lot.
"Hey guys!" He waves at them.
"Hey, ya made it!" Abby says giving him a hug.
"It's been too long, man. What have you been up to?" Hoagie asks.
"Oh the usual stuff. Work and home mostly. Been busy. What about you guys? How have you been?" Nigel asks.
"We've been good. Keeping busy, same as you I guess. Where's Chad? He didn't wanna come?" Abby asks in return.
"He's at home, he wanted a quiet night. Had to remind him I was coming here, he got a little suspicious." Nigel responds, causing Hoagie and Abby to look at each other with confused looks for a brief moment.
"Okay then… well let's get inside, the others are waiting for us." Abby suggests, changing the subject. The two follow her inside the bar. On the stage, they see Patton Drilovsky trying to impress Fanny Fulbright with his singing.
She's a twentieth century fox. She's a twentieth century fox. No tears, no fears, no ruined years, no clocks. She's a twentieth century fox, oh yeah
"When's she gonna admit she's in love with him?" Hoagie asks.
"There ain't enough whiskey on Earth to get her drunk enough to admit that." Abby quips in response.
They find a large booth with Wally, Kuki, and to Nigel's surprise, Rachel sitting down with beers and pretzels.
"Hey guys, you made it!" Wally waves at them.
"Hey, Nigel. How are ya?" Rachel waves at him.
"Rachel? Hey, I didn't know you were gonna be here." Nigel responds, though a tad nervously.
"What's the matter? You afraid Chad's gonna see you with me?" Rachel quips. Hoagie and Abby give each other subtle looks, believing that that very thing might be true.
"Not really." Nigel responds.
"Well it doesn't matter. Let's not worry about that right now. We came here to have fun, right?" Kuki says, quickly changing the subject.
"Well, let's wait til these two are off the stage." Wally points to the stage to find Jimmy McGarfield and his wife Anna on stage
Come with me dance, my dear. Winter's so cold this year. You are so warm, my wintertime love to be.
"Pfft. It's not even winter. Why would they go with that?" Hoagie quips.
"Hey at least they weren't the ones who sang, "Get Up and Dance." Wally quips.
"Hey, at least "Get Up and Dance" is one of the few post-Morrison songs I'd be willing to listen to." Nigel responds.
"Nah, nothing after LA Woman for me." Hoagie responds.
"Well, speaking of which. Why not start off with one from that. Hoags, you know what one we gotta do." Wally says.
"Oh I do." Hoagie responds. After Jimmy and Anna get off the stage, the two of them hop on.
(Wally)
Don't ya love her madly?
Don't ya need her badly?
(Hoagie)
Don't ya love her ways?
Tell me what you say?
(Wally)
Don't you love her madly? Wanna be her daddy? Don't ya love her face?
(Hoagie)
Don't ya love her as she's walkin' out the door? Like she did one thousand times before?
Both Abby and Kuki are both fawning over their boyfriends' singing abilities. Rachel and Nigel are sitting together in the booth.
"So, how have you been Rachel?" Nigel asks.
"I've been good, Nigel. But what about you? I'm surprised, Chad let you go somewhere without him." Rachel says.
"He's fine with it. He's cool with the others. But I have to ask, why don't you too get along? He's very protective of me whenever he sees you." Nigel states.
"Me and Chad never got along. Hatchets that were never buried. Trust me it's not worth getting into right now." Rachel explains.
"Well I've assured him a few times that I'm not leaving him for you. I don't know why he's so jealous. You and I are just friends." Nigel states. Though this seems to rub Rachel the wrong way, she doesn't want to ruin Nigel's night. She knows he's right, they are good friends. And why ruin a good thing?
"Well let's get back to the music. I'm curious to know what Kuki and Abby sing to the guys." Rachel turns her and Nigel's attention to the stage.
(Abby)
Come on, come on, come on, come on, now touch me, babe. Can't you see that I am not afraid?
(Kuki)
What was that promise that you made? Why won't you tell me what she said? What was that promise that you made?
Much like the song prior, Wally and Hoagie fawn over their girlfriends' singing voices.
(Abby)
Now, I'm going to love you, till the heavens stop the rain.
(Kuki)
I'm going to love you, till the stars fall from the sky for you and I.
When the girls finish, Rachel gets up and motions for Nigel to follow her. "Come on, Nigel. One song together, please." She asks him lovingly.
"Sure thing." Nigel stands up to join her. "Did you have something in mind?" He asks her.
"I was thinking something off of Morrison Hotel. That's my favorite album by them." Rachel suggests.
"Oh definitely." Nigel replies.
When they get on stage together, Abby looks at Hoagie and says, "On second thought, it's good that Chad's not here to see this."
"True, and at least they get to be around each other without feeling socially awkward." Hoagie adds on.
"Well lets just listen to them sing." Abby says, listening to Rachel and Nigel.
(Rachel)
There's blood in the streets it's up to my ankles. Blood in the streets it's up to my knew. Blood in the streets in the town of Chicago
(Nigel)
Blood on the rise it's following me. Think about the break of day. She came and then she drove away, sunlight in her hair.
The rest of the night is filled with all sorts of fun. Kuki passing out after too much Heineken, a plastered Fanny Fulbright sing "Hello, I Love You" to Patton, and reminiscing of time when they were younger.
When Nigel left to go back to his apartment, Rachel felt simultaneously happy and sad. Happy that she got to spend time with Nigel, but sad that it can't last. Walking to Wally's car, she gets in the front seat after helping him lay Kuki in the back.
"Hey, you okay Rach?" Wally asks her.
"Yeah, I'm fine. I just wish I could spend more time like this with Nigel." Rachel answers.
"I understand why. But it's little moments like these that'll be the most special. I'm just glad Abby invited you along. I haven't seen you or Nigel that happy together in a long time." Wally says.
"Thanks, Wally."
"No problem. Let's just get her how before she gets too sick. I'll drop you off after." Wally quips.
"Yeah, no problem." Rache laughs as Wally begins to drive off. As Rachel stares out the window she thinks to herself, "If only I'd been smarter, Nigel and I could have more time like this together."
I hope you like this chapter. This is one of the few times in the story thiat Nigel is seen with all his friends. I'm also going to make Chad increasingly possessive of Nigel and paranoid throughout the story. Next chapter is going to be mostly just Nigel and Chad talking. Until then, please read and review.
The Doors songs used in the karaoke sequence.
Patton: Twentieth Century Fox
Anna and Jimmy McGarfield: Wintertime Love
Wally and Hoagie: Love Her Madly
Kuki and Abby: Touch Me

In case you couldn't tell, I love "The Doors", and lately I've been listening to them nonstop.
