The Bosses' Board Room has bubble walls, with small lighted fish swimming around outside like moving stars. A long circular judge's bench filled with Gungan officials dominates the room. Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon stand facing Boss Nass, who sits on a bench higher than the others.
"The Jedi may be peace keepers according to the laws of the surface, but the Gungins never signed such laws," Boss Nass bellows, "You do not belong here."
"I understand and I do apologize," Qui-Gon begins, "That droid army is about to attack the Naboo. We must warn them."
"We don't like the Naboo and they don't like us. Why should we care?"
"After those droids take control of the surface, they will come here and take control of you."
"Let them come. We have a grand army. The Naboo fears it and the Federation will learn to fear it all the same."
"Then at least allow us safe passage through your city."
"You trespassed here and brought Jar Jar Binks, a known con-artist. The punishment is 30 cycles."
Qui-Gon waves his hand, "You will allow us safe passage."
Boss Nass blinks and then turns to his officials, "We will allow them safe passage," which gets curious looks from them.
"Thank you," Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan turn to leave.
"Hey, you guys are leaving without your buddy Jar Jar?," he raises his shackled hands, "Come on. I got a ride waiting for you. I can take you straight to the palace."
Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan look at one another. Moments later, they climb into a sub-speeder docked at the edge of the city. "You won't regret this," Jar Jar informs strange little submarine propels itself away from the Otoh Gunga, leaving the glow of the settlement in the distance. Jar Jar pilots while the Jedi sit in the back. As they move, glimpses of strange aquatic lifeforms pass them by.
"Master, why do you trust Jar Jar?," Obi-Wan asks.
"I don't trust him. I trust the Force, however."
"So do I, but... this mission gets worse and worse. The negotiations fell through, we can't contact the Chancellor, and the Federation is marching toward Naboo City as we speak. At the moment, this all hinges on a con-artist navigating us through a planet's ocean."
"Do not be too anxious of the future, Obi-Wan. It will resolve itself. Remember the Prophecy of the Chosen One?"
"Yes, of course."
"Tell it to me."
"The Chosen One will bring balance to the Force."
"That is how the prophecy ends. How does it begin?"
"Through a miracle of the Force."
"One that occurs in the most unlikely of places."
"Is this another test, Master?"
"Perhaps. If were a test, what could you learn from the prophecy?"
"That miracles can happen...?"
"Even when one does not expect them too."
An alarm sounds off in the sub and Jar Jar becomes worried as the sub lurches. Obi-Wan leans into the navigator's seat, "That sounds like we're under attack."
"We are!," Jar Jar says in a worried tone.
"Is it another sub-speeder?"
"Nah. You guys might wanna look out the back window."
The two Jedi turn and peer out the window behind them just in time to see a large mouth with multiple teeth snapping at them. Jar Jar turns the sub left and right as a large sea creature dives after them. "Go deeper," Qui-Gon commands.
Jar Jar shakes his head, "We go any deeper and we'll hit the Core."
"Trust me."
The sub dives down past a reef and into the gloom. The only visible light comes from the sub and the small bulb on the sea creature's head. Soon, they pass over streams of red magma, which casts more light on them. The sea creature approaches and snatches the back of the sub in its massive teeth. Jar Jar struggles with the controls as the creature pulls the vehicle down toward a deep crater. Suddenly, a claw reaches out, snatching the creature. It roars in pain and releases the sub as it is pulled into the abyss. The sub dips past a burst of lava and heads back toward a higher sea level. Qui-Gon turns, "Miracles," he tells Obi-Wan who smiles slightly.
In the Naboo Capital, battle droids march through the streets followed by tanks. Queen Amidala watches from her balcony. Two of her handmaidens approach her. "My Queen," one of the handmaidens begins, "The Viceroy wishes to speak with you." She nods, "Thank you, Padme." Padme leads her into a grand meeting room where two battle droids flank a mobile hologram projector.
"Greetings once again, Your Highness," Nute begins.
"Your droids are taking over my city and you condescend to greet me with formalities?," Amidala says bitterly, "The Trade Federation may be wealthy but even they must bow to the wishes of the Senate."
"As I understand, the Senate is bogged down in procedures. By the time this incident comes up for a vote, they will have no choice but to accept our control of the system. The Naboo and the Federation will forge a treaty that will legitimize our occupation here."
"I will not co-operate."
"Now, now, your Highness. You are not going to like what we have in store for your people. In time, their suffering will persuade you to see our point of view. Commander, take them to Camp 0129."
A battle droid steps forward with a blaster and leads Amidala away. The other droid takes Padme. Meanwhile, at a pier near the palace, Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan climb out of Jar Jar's sub.
"This is where we say goodbye, gentlemen," Jar Jar tells them, "Good luck fighting an entire army."
"You may find yourself coming back," Qui-Gon warns, "If this invasion is as serious as I fear."
"Let's hope you're wrong," Jar Jar closes the hatch to the sub and it sinks below the surface.
Padme and Amidala are led out of the palace by ten battle droids. The plaza is filled with tanks and other droids, which they pass on their way to the detention camp. Unbeknownst to them, Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan sneak across on a walkway above the plaza and jump from a balcony to begin an attack to rescue the Queen. They land on two droids on either side of the women. Obi-Wan performs an underhanded backward swing to cut down a third droid and Qui-Gon decapitates a fourth. Padme snatches a discarded blaster form the ground and blasts another droid. More of them move forward and are also cut down as the two Jedi flourish around until there is only the Droid Sergeant left. He turns and starts to run but is pulled back to Qui-Gon by the Force and is instantly impaled.
"My Queen," Padme begins, "I believe these are the ambassadors."
