Obi-Wan sits in the navigator seat and Qui-Gon joins him in the cockpit.
"I feel you are still anxious, Obi-Wan."
"I am. I sense something dreadful on the horizon and I can't shake it. When we reached Naboo, I had hope but now we seem to be wandering to another desolate area in the galaxy and we are no closer to stopping the Trade Federation. I'm not sure this will end well and I know this way leads to the Darkside, but... it is the truth."
"Remember Master Yoda's teachings. Emotion is always the future."
"Yes, Master."
"The Force is strong in you, Obi-Wan and you are a much wiser man than I."
"I doubt that, Master."
"I forsee you will become a great Jedi Knight."
"Thank you, Master."
Captain Panaka comes into the cockpit, "The Queen has decided to go to Tatoonie. She requests we plot a course immediately."
Sometime later, the craft drifts toward a brown planet. It enters the atmosphere as the light from twin suns reflect off the surface of the chrome ship. Panaka pilots while Obi-Wan navigates. "There's a settlement...a spaceport, looks like," Panaka says as the ship approaches a port in the distance.
"Land near the outskirts," Obi-Wan advises, "We don't want to attract any attention." The ship lands in the desert and Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon prepare to disembark.
"I've thought about this," Qui-Gon tells him, "I should stay here with Captain Panaka and guard the Queen."
"I'm going alone?"
"It's a minor quest. It might put your mind at ease. Buy the parts we need and come back."
"Yes, Master."
Qui-Gon hands him a pouch, "Republic Credits are no good in the outer rim. Here is a bag of wupiupi."
"I'll be back soon."
Captain Panaka makes his way to the ramp with Padme in tow, "Wait! Her Highness commands you to take Padme with you. She wishes for her to observe the local."Obi-Wan shakes his head, "Captain, this spaceport is not going to be pleasant."
"The Queen wishes it. She is curious about this planet."
"If you noticed, I've been trained in defense...," Padme tells him, "I can take care of myself."
"It shouldn't take long," Qui-Gon pats Obi-Wan on the back, "He'll be happy to look after the Queen's handmadien."
Obi-Wan seems disappointed but says nothing and waves Padme to follow. Together, they descend down the ramp and out into the sand. They walk down the main street of Mos Espa, the spaceport and pass dangerous looking citizens of all types. Padme looks around in awe at this exotic environment.
"How do people earn a living out here?," she asks.
"Moisture farms for the most part, but also a few indigenous tribes and scavengers. The few spaceports like this one are havens for those who do not wish to be found."
"Like us."
It is night at Corsucant, which is a planet comprised of a vast city. Darth Sidious stands on a balcony overlooking many spires. Darth Maul steps out onto the balcony to join his master. "Tatooine is sparsely populated," he tells Sidious in a hissing voice, "If the trace was correct, I will find them quickly, Master."
Sidious turns to look at his, his dark hood concealing his face, "Move against the Jedi first...you will then have no difficulty taking the Queen back to Naboo, where she will sign the treaty."
"At last we will reveal ourselves to the Jedi. At last we will have revenge."
"You have been well trained, my young apprentice, they will be no match for you. It is too late for them to stop us now. Everything is going as planned. The Republic will soon be in my command."
Back on Tatooine, Obi-Wan and Padme push their way through the crowded market place. Padme holds her nose as she passes a bantha and a Twi'lek woman becons Obi-Wan to enter her quarters, which eh ignores.
"We'll find a shop that sells the hyperdrive we need," Obi-Wan tells her, "Then we'll leave quickly. I know Queen Amidala is curious about this place, but I doubt there's much culture here to spark her interest."
"I didn't think the Jedi were this stuck-up."
"I'm not looking down on these people, but... well, I would not wish to live in such a wretched hive."
"It may be a bit rough to look at, but I haven't seen anything I would call wretched."
"You may reconsider once you realize one of them is about to steal your bracelet."
Padme spins around, quickly spotting a small alien reaching out to her bracelet. The alien growls somethign in its own language and Obi-Wan retorts, "You are about to steal from a queen's handmaiden. You wouldn't want to get on the bad side of royalty." The creature sputters out some more insults before disappearing in the crowd.
"I suppose what they say is true," Padme smiles, "Jedi senses are far sharper than most organisms."
"We are one with the Force. It gives us insight that -"
A figure quickly runs past Obi-Wan and bumps into him before racing away. Obi-Wan watches the figure run away curiously. "What were you saying about the Force?," Padme chuckles a bit. Obi-Wan looks down at his belt and sees his pouch had been stolen, "He took our money." He quickly runs after the figure and Padme follows, "Wait!". They persue the figure through the port and he stops momentarily to look back and see if he's still being followed. This is Anakin Skywalker, a teenage boy with long blonde hair. He spots Obi-Wan and Padme chasing him and quickly darts in an alley and they give chase. As he exits the alley, he knocks over a cart filled with colorful fruit. Obi-Wan leaps over the cart and does not break stride. Anakin soon leaps into a speeder and takes off into the sky.
"We've lost him," Padme groans.
"Not quite," Obi-Wan runs to a nearby speeder bike and uses his lightsaber to pop open a panel on the side.
"Wait, can we do this?"
He snaps two wires together and the bike comes alive, "It's honestly frowned upon. Come on!," he hops on the bike and gets on the back, then the pair take off after Anakin.
