The Gungin base is at the far end are the ruins of a grand temple with massive carved heads. Boss Nass and several other Council members walk out on the top of a three-quarter-submerged head.
Boss Nass glares angrily, "Jar Jar, you're not getting a second chance this time!. Who are the others?"
"The Queen of Naboo and her assassins... They made me do it."
Queen Amidala steps forward, "I am Queen Amidala of the Naboo...I come before you in peace."
"The Naboo never come before the Gungins... not unless they are also in trouble, yes?" Captain Panaka and the others look around nervously, and the Gungin Troops lower their long power poles. The Jedi stay relaxed. Anakin watches everything with great interest. "We wish to form an alliance," Amidala continues.
"An alliance? With what army?"
Suddenly, Padme steps forward, "Your Honor..." Anakin goes wide-eyed.
"Who's this?"
"I am Queen Amidala," she points to the queen, "This is my decoy...my protection...my loyal bodyguard." Anakin is stunned and slightly offended. Qui-Gon gives Obi-Wan a knowing look. "I am sorry for my deception, but under the circumstances it has become necessary to protect myself. Although we do not always agree, Your Honor, our two great societies have always lived in peace...until now. The Trade Federation has destroyed all that we have worked so hard to build. You are in hiding, my people are in camps. If we do not act quickly, all will be lost forever...I ask you to help us...no, I beg you to help us," she drops to her knees and prostrates herself, "We are your humble servants...our fate is in your hands."
Slowly, Captain Panaka and the Jedi bow down. Anakin appears annoyed but kneels on one knee. The Gungins are puzzled by this. Boss Nass begins to laugh, "You don't think you're greater than the Gungins? I like it. Maybe... we'll have an alliance." Padme smiles and the rest of the group rise to their feet, grateful they now have allies. Anakin does not look at Padme who seems hurt by his coldness.
In the Naboo throne room, Nute stands across from Darth Maul, "We've sent out patrols. We've already located their starship in the swamp...It won't be long, My Lord." Darth Maul nods, "Do what you will with the queen. Leave the Jedi to me," with that, he turns and leaves. Nute seems nervous.
In the swamps, Captain Panaka points to a crudely drawn map, "We freed several pilots a while back. If they managed to make it out of the hangar, they would be located in these bunkers."
"Can you contact them?," Qui-Gon asks.
"Certainly."
"Tell them to get ready. When we approach the hangars, we'll need them to get in their fighters and go after the droid control ship."
In the waters nearby, several Gungins load their subs and begin strapping water-canons to their backs. Large creatures pull carts and several Gungins load them with energy-globes. Obi-Wan and Padme inspect the troops. "We'll use the subs to get you as close to the palace as we can," Obi-Wan explains, "Master Qui-Gon and I will take the hangars while the Gungins take on the droid army." She nods and notices Anakin sitting alone on a giant statue's head. She quickly goes to him, "Anakin?"
"Your Highness," he sneers back at her.
"What's wrong?"
"You were the queen the entire time?"
"I have a decoy so that..."
"I thought you were like me. A slave... or a handmaiden. Whatever you want to call it. I thought you were different than all of them, but you were just another politician in power, stomping on the lives of those beneath you."
"Anakin, I am risking my life to protect my people! I could have stayed with the Senate where it was safe."
"What do you know of the people? You didn't know slaves existed until a few days ago."
"That's not fair. Naboo doesn't even have slaves. I would never allow it!"
"I'll help destroy the Trade Federation. I despise them much more than royalty," he hops off the statue, "After that, I'm gone." He leaves her alone.
Boss Nass marches Jar Jar to a group of creatures hauling energy-globes. "Jar Jar, I have a special task for you," he tells him, "You will be in charge of loading the catapults."
"But,... Boss Nass, sir," he smiles in a cowardly manner, "I'm banished, remember? You can't have someone like me in your army. I understand if you..."
"Consider your banishment ended."
"And uh,... What, out of curiosity, is the penalty for vacating military duty?"
"Execution on sight," Boss Nass states happily.
"... Right."
In the capital city, several droid transports rolls out, filled with droids. Tanks also hover in place. The Jedi go into the back of a sub-speeder along with Anakin who appears distant. Captain Panaka, Padme, and the decoy queen go in another sub-speeder. The rest of the Gungin troops march into the larger subs and they all dive in unison. Large creatures march out onto a grassy plain with carts full of energy-globes. Gungin soldiers stand nearby on hovering platforms with large catapults. Jar Jar ride son top of one creature. Somewhere in the capital city, a group of Naboo pilots huddle around a hologram disc with Panaka appearing in the center, "The Jedi are almost at the hangar. Get ready." Somewhere, Darth Maul mediates before levitating his lightsaber to him and marching out of the room.
The small speeder emerges from the water near a waterfall. The two Jedi and Anakin get out and quickly hike up the mountain side to the hangar bay. Near the palace, another speeder breaks the surface, unseen. "Wait until the Gungins attack," Padme tells Panaka and her decoy. In the plain, Gungins load the catapults. Jar Jar can barely lift one globe as he loads it in. "Fire," the Gungin general shouts and the catapults release the globes toward the city in the distance. A droid sitting in a tank looks up just in time for the globe to crush the top portion of the tank. Another globe hits a different tank, causing it to crash into several droids stationed beside it. Another globe knocks a droid off a tank and it rolls onto the street before smashing through a wall. In the canal, large submarines emerge and Gungin troops leap out. "Gungin forces," a droid commander shouts as they open fire. The Gungin water canons convert the water tanks on their backs into heat blasts that shatter the droids. Not far away, Padme hears the attacks, "That's our signal. Get to the Palace." The Battle for Naboo has started.
