three;

THE NEXT DAY, JANIYAH MET UP WITH JACK AT THE SAME BENCH AGAIN. She had no idea he'd be there, but she was glad to have found him because he promised to each her to draw a little. When she sat next o him, he'd already been working on the finishing details of a drawing. This time, it was an elderly couple, looking out into the ocean, holding each other's hands. Once again, Janiyah was amazed by how well he captured the scene.

"So what do you want to draw?" Jack asked just as he finished his work. He flipped to another page on his sketch pad and turned his attention to J.

Looking around the deck, she thought of what she could do, something simple... "How about that man walking them dogs?" she pointed at the man who had two dogs on a leash, Poodles both of them, one black and one white. Their lives are probably three times fancier than mine... That's when one of them started to take a crap.

"Ah, yes, that's our reminder so we know where we rank in the scheme of things," Jack said, then handed Janiyah his sketch book and the crayon. "Well, we better get started before they leave."

They spent about half an hour on the drawing. The man and the dogs left after about five minutes, but luckily they had the sketch already so the rest of the drawing had to be from memory. Janiyah did struggle through most of it, she'd never had any experience in drawing. But that's what Jack was there for.

Sometimes she just couldn't seem to get a certain detail right, only for Jack to come in, taking her hand and guiding it so she could get it perfectly. "Jack, you make it looks so easy," she said as they finally completed the drawing. With the help of Jack, it turned out pretty nicely, but Janiyah knew it wouldn't have turned out very great without him.

"Just practice and you'll get better," he told her, taking back his sketch book and crayon. Taking another look at the drawing, he added, "I like it. I'm keeping it."

"Why? I mean, I know we had a deal but it's not nearly as good as any of your drawings."

Jack looked back into her eyes, "So I'll have a memory of you when the ship docks and we never see each other again."

She smiled, her cheeks beginning to tint a light pink. Wait, am I blushing? Janiyah never blushed with men, this was just... different. "Then what will I have as a memory of you?"

Thinking about it for a second, he said, "I don't know. I'll think of something." For a moment, Janiyah got caught up with his blue eyes, only for Jack to break the silence. "So I'm having dinner with the first-class tonight. Wanna be my date?"

Janiyah laughed, "You expect me to believe that?"

Jack shrugged," Like I said, you're just gonna have to trust me."

Everyone's attention turned to a woman who's just walked upon the poop deck, obviously from first-class. She worse an expensive dress, red, curly hair under her flamboyant hat. She seemed to be looking around for someone... who was she looking for?

"There you are, son!" She said once she spotted... Jack? Making her way over to both Jack and Janiyah, she said, "You ready for dinner?"

Jack looked at J, giving her a smirk, "You belive me now?"

She rolled her eyes.

"Yes, I'm ready," Jack replied to the woman. "I'm taking Janiyah here with me."

"Well, both of you are about to go into the snakepit. What are you planning to ear?" She asked.

Both of them looked down to their clothes, then gave her a shrug.

"That's what I thought," she said. "Come on. Let's get you two ready."

"Don't feel bad about it. My husband still can't tie one of these damn things after twenty years," said Molly Brown as she finished up tying Jack's white tie. "There you go."

Jack was all dressed up for the fancy dinner he was about to have, his hair slit back and combed unlike his usual messy style. He looked like an actual first-class man. All he needed was his black jacket to complete the look, to which the woman handed it to him. Jack took it, putting it on over his shoulders.

Molly began to pick up all the different outfits which were laid out on her bed, Jack had previously tried them on but chose the current one to go on with. "I gotta buy everything in three sizes 'cause I never know how much he's been eating while I'm away," she said, then turned to look at Jack. "My, my, my... you shine up like a new penny. Now I'm gonna go check up on Janiyah, I will be right back."

Janiyah stared at herself in the large mirror in front of her. She'd never worn such a tight dress, that showed off her curves like it did now. What she hated the most was all the undergarments she had to wear; a chemise, corset, drawers... it was too much. The dress was a scarlet red color, truffles coming from the waist down. It was shoulderless, and showed off a bit of her cleavage, something she wasn't used to at all.

It was horrible, at least to her. In reality, she looked beautiful. But it'd only be for one night, just for dinner. Then she could go back to her usual clothes. Her hair had been brushed up in some fancy braid. It felt weird. She never really did anything with her hair. Her shoes had a medium size heel, which would take some time to get used to. And to complete the outfit, she worse black gloves, reaching up a little over her elbows.

"How do you feel?" Molly asked as she had just walked into the room.

"Uncomfortable."

"I know it's a change from the clothes you usually wear but you'll get used to it," she smiled. Molly was actually a very easy-going woman. Janiyah thought everyone from first-class were stuck-up snobs, but Molly was different. She actually cared about other people, even if they weren't in the same class as her. "Now let's get some make-up on you and you'll be all ready."

Make-up had never been something Janiyah had tried. There was not enough money to waste on make-up growing up. "I don't want too much."

Molly nodded, "Of course, a light make-up and that's it, then."

Jack awaited along the deck, just before the first-class entrance. Classical music was heard coming from inside, it all sounded so peaceful and relaxing in there. The sky above was gorgeous, purple with an orange tiny along where the sun had just set.

That's when he spotted her, coming along the deck towards him. He thought she looked lovely. Once she approached him, he took her hand, raising it to his lips to softly kiss the back of her fingers. "I saw that on nickelodeon once, and I've always wanted to do it."

Janiyah smiled at his charming act, blushing lightly. She moved to the side of Jack, hooking her arm with his because it just felt right, but also because she still wasn't used to the heels and didn't want to walk around looking pathetic as she tripped over herself every couple of seconds.

"Shall we?" Jack asked, gesturing towards the entrance.

"We shall," she replied, imitating his same attempt of properness.

As soon as they reached the door, it was opened up by a man, one of the many stewards of the ship. "Good evening," he said, keeping the door open until they walked through. Jack gave him a nod, and both of them continued on.

Inside was spectacular, neither of them had ever seen anything like it. Above them was an immense glass dome, the crystal chandelier in the center of it. Just ahead of them was the grand staircase, which led to multiple floors.

They seemed to fit in because nobody paid attention to them at all.

This atmosphere contrasted greatly with what Jack and Janiyah were used to. Most people were usually so gleeful, loud and fun-loving. Here, everybody was quiet, reserved, and they all seemed to walk the same elegant way.

"Dawson! I didn't recognize you," said a man who looked the same as every other person in this place. He stepped closer to the two, a few people following him. "Amazing! You could almost pass for a gentleman."

Jack wasn't sure whether to take that as a compliment or not. "J, this is Cal," Jack told her. "He's the one who invited me to dinner."

"I don't seem to remember telling you to bring somebody," Cal said.

"Yeah, but you never said I couldn't bring somebody."

"Fair point... we've got an extra seat anyway. Come on, let's get to our table,' the man said, walking towards the dinner tables as the rest followed.

At the table, Janiyah and Jack were introduced to the rest. Rose was Cal's fiance, Ruth was Rose's mother, and a bunch of other people, Janiyah hadn't even bothered to listen to all of their names. The table was all full to the point that everyone touched each other's shoulders. Janiyah was lucky to have had an empty seat available for her, even when she was uninvited.

"Tell us of the accommodations in steerage, Mr. Dawson and Ms. Conlan," said Ruth. "I hear they're quite good on this ship."

"The best I've seen, ma'am," Jack responded. "Hardly any rats."

"There's more rats up here than down there," Janiyah muttered so the rest couldn't hear. Jack, who sat next to her laughed quietly. Molly had heard too, since she sat on the other side of Janiyah but held in her laugh.

"Mr. Dawson and Ms. Conlan are joining us from third-class," Cal stated. "He was of assistance to my fiance last night."

"I forgot to ask, how did you get invited to this?" Janiyah asked as the rest carried on with a different conversation.

"I stopped Cal's fiance, Rose, from jumping off the ship. Don't ask me why she even wanted to do that, it was a stupid idea." Jack told her in a whisper, "But they think I just saved her from falling on accident."

Janiyah glanced at Rose for a quick second, then turned back to Jack, realizing who she was. "That's the girl who threw her hat overboard, right?" she whispered back at him.

"Yeah." They both laugh childishly, earning disapproving glances from the rest of the people at the table.

"you two seem to be whispering to each other a lot," Ruth said. "Mind tellins us what you are talking about?"

Everyone looked at them, waiting for an answer. Jack completely ignored her, leaning into to whisper something in Janiyah's ear. Quite rude, but, eh, who cares?

"Wanna go to a real party?"

author's note !

ok, so have just started this fic and i'm already receiving a couple of negative comments. i'd like to set a few things straight:

you came here because, obviously, you like titanic and wanted to read a fic. you probably thought that this would be a jack x rose fic. but no, because if you read the summary, you would've known it was a jack x oc fic. but anyway, you continued reading the story, i don't know why, and left a negative comment on my story.

i honestly don't care what you think about this fic. i don't know why you even continued reading if you knew it was jack x oc. if you were looking for jack x rose, go someplace else and search for one, there is absolutely NO need to tell me, "i don't like this fic because jack isn't supposed to be with another woman."

look, i love the jack x rose ship, their relationship was amazing, the entire titanic movie was just great. but this is a fic, and i can do whatever i want with it. i can change whatever i want in it. it's MY story. just because, boo hoo, you thought it was a jack x rose fic, doesn't mean that if you comment and try to make me turn it into one, then i will. i won't.

now i've been saying this in the nicest way possible. so, please, don't try me. :D

so i'd just like to thank the ones who like the story, and leave positive comments. thank you, very much. your support means a lot to me, and i hope that you continue to enjoy the story. :)
