Obi-Wan and the aliens come out onto a balcony. Below is a huge parade ground. The rain and wind are brutal. Thousands of Clone Troopers, faces covered by helmets, are marching and drilling in formations of several hundred. "Magnificent, aren't they?," Lama Su asks. Obi-Wan nods slowly, still taking everything in. Lama Su conducts him through a large commissary where hundreds of clones eat. As expected, they look exactly alike without their helmets and are all about twenty years old, dressed in black.

"We modified the clones' genetic structure to make them less independent than the original host," Lama Su tells him, "As a result they are totally obedient, taking any order without question. The clones have all the benefits of a battle droid but with the independent thought and action of a human."

"This project started ten years ago but these men are all fully grown."

"Of course. We use artificial growth acceleration. That way, we can produce healthy, strong soldiers in a short amount of time."

"You say this army was commissioned by a Jedi. I want you to be clear... Who was meant to lead this army and for what purpose?"

"Why, the Republic, of course."

"The Republic... Right."

"As to what purpose, we never asked After all, the secrecy of our clients is our highest priority."

"Of course,... And who was the original host for the clones?"

"A bounty hunter named Jango Fett. We felt a Jedi would be the perfect choice, but Sido-Dyas hand-picked Jango Fett himself."

"Where is this bounty hunter now?"

"Oh, he lives here. After a few hundred thousand clones, the genetic pattern starts to fade, so we take a fresh supply every few months. Otherwise, he's free to come and go as he pleases."

Lama Su continues the tour through a long corridor filled with narrow, transparent tubes into which Clones are hibernating and awaiting activation, "Apart from his pay, which is considerable, Jango Fett demanded only one thing - an unaltered clone for himself. Curious isn't it?"

"Unaltered?"

"Pure genetic replication. No tampering with the structure to make it more docile... and no growth acceleration... Essentially, he now has a son."

"I would like to meet this Jango Fett."

"I would be most happy to arrange it, for you," Taun We motions toward a waiting room, "Please wait here and I will see of he is taking visitors at the moment."

The aliens leave the room once Obi-Wan is inside. The door slides closed behind them and he looks around, then moves swiftly to check the room over. Finally, satisfied, he takes out his comlink.

"R-4, come in" he says into his comlink and in his fighter outside, the little astro droid chirps as it projects a small hologram, "Relay this, 'scramble code five' to Courscant: care of 'Jedi Council..." In the Council chambers, Yoda, Mace Windu, and the others listen as a hologram of Obi-Wan stands between them broadcasting the massage. The signal is very weak, the image fading in and out. "...I've never heard of a Jedi called Sifo-Dyas, have you, Master?"

"Yes," Mace seems concerned, "He was a friend of Count Dooku when they were in the Jedi Order. He disappeared roughly around the time he would have comissioned this army."

"Why would he want to create a clone army?"

"That is something we wish to know as well."

"This bounty hunter. Tell us more," Yoda requests.

"...I have a strong feeling he bounty hunter is the assassin we're looking for."

"Who he is working for... discover that, you must."

"I will, Master, and I will also find out more about this clone army... May The Force...," the image fades away.

"A clone army!," Ki-Adi-Mundi exclaims, "Ordered by one of our own... He was out to start a war but why."

"I fear Senator Amidala was correct," Mace appears worried, "Perhaps Count Dooku has been behind this all along."

"And yet, the army was meant for the Republic."

"Inform Chancellor Palpatine of this, we must," Yoda contemplates.

Meanwhile, it is night in Alderaan. Anakin has another restless night, "No...No...No...Mom!...Don't!... No, don't!". His screams get louder until the glass of water next to his bed is flung across the room by the Force and shatters on the wall. He sits up in a cold sweat. A moment later, the door slides open and Padme stands in the frame, "Anakin?"

"I'm fine."

"Is this why you can't sleep? Are you having nightmares?"

"They're not nightmares... They're... visions."

"Visions of what?"

"I'm not sure. Master Yoda always says the future is uncertain... It's probably best that you go back to your quarters. I don't think it's a good idea if we share too much about our personal lives."

"I can't help it. I care about you... I truly do."

"I know."

"So what did you see in this vision?"

"I saw my mother. I keep having these visions but this one was more vivid than the others. I saw her as clearly as I see you now. She's suffering, Padme. She is in pain...They're killing her!," he rises, "I know I'm disobeying my mandate to protect you, Senator. I know I will be punished and possibly thrown out of the Jedi Order, but I must go. I have to help her! I'm sorry, Padme. I don't have a choice."

"I'll go with you."

"What?"

"That way you can continue to protect me, and you won't be disobeying your mandate. Besides, if no one is looking for me on Alderaan, they won't be looking for me on Tatoonie."

"I can't let you -"

"I told you I wouldn't let you give up your future for me," she leaves, "I'll prepare a transport for us."

"What about Master Obi-wan?"

She smiles and takes his hand, "I guess we won't tell him, will we?"

Back on Camino, Taun We leads Obi-Wan to the door of Jango Fett's apartment. Taun We waves his hand in front of a scanner, and a muted bell rings. As they wait, Obi-Wan notes the door lock entry mechanism. Then the door opens, and a ten-year-old boy, Boba Fett, looks at them. He seems like a younger version of the clones Obi-Wan saw previously.

"Boba, your visitor has arrived," Taun We says, "Your father has been waiting for him."

Boba simply nods and allows them inside. He mutters a quick, "Dad, Taun We's here with the visitor," and sits down to continue playing a game. Jango Fett comes in from the bedroom. He is identical to the clones but wears more casual attire.

He eyes Obi-Wan with suspicion, "So you're the Jedi who wants to talk to me?"

Taun We motions toward him, "This is Jedi Master, Obi-Wan Kenobi. He's come to check on our progress."

"That right?"

"Your clones are very impressive," Obi-Wan tells him, "You must be very proud."

"I'm just a simple man, trying to make my way in the universe,... Master Jedi."

"Aren't we all?," Obi-Wan eyes the half-open bedroom door, through which a couple of pieces of familiar armor can be seen on the floor. Jango moves in front of him, blocking the view.

"Ever made your way as far into the interior as Coruscant?," Obi-Wan continues the questioning.

"Once or twice."

"Then you must know Master Sifo-Dyas?"

"Who?"

"Sifo-Dyas. Isn't he the Jedi who hired you for this job?"

"Never heard of him. I was recruited by a man called Darth Tyranus."

"Darth... Tyranus? Darth is a title for Sithlords."

"I've no idea what a Sithlord is," he calmly closes the door to the closet, hiding his armor completely, "So ...Do you like your army?"

"It seems to me it's your army since they are all clones of you."

"They'll do their job well, I'll guarantee that."

"I look forward to seeing them in action. Thank you for your time, Jango," Obi-Wan takes his leave.

"Always a pleasure to meet a Jedi."

Taun We leads Obi-Wan back to his ship. The door slides closed and Jango turns to his son. He is deep in thought.

"What is it, Dad?," Boba asks.

"... Boba, get your stuff and get to the ship."
