A rough hologram of Obi-Wan is projected onto Anakin's comlink as he and Padme stand inside the Alderaan transport, "Anakin... I have learned the identity of Padme's assassin. He is working for Count Dooku who has joined the Sith and is leading an attack against the Republic. I have sent my coordinates to you. You must warn the Jedi Council!". A metal hand strikes Obi-Wan just as he turns and the hologram fades away.

"I have to warn the Council," Anakin grabs the comlink.

"And then we're going to rescue Master Kenobi?," Padme asks.

"What?"

"I know that's what you want to do, Anakin, but you also don't want to disobey your orders anymore than you already have."

"That's true. I've already lost my mother and the idea of losing Obi-Wan... well... I'm not authorized to go on a rescue mission."

"He never specifically told you not to go."

"That's also true... But I'm supposed to be guarding you. We're not even supposed to be here."

"Well, I'm going to Geonosis, so I guess you have no choice but to come along," she sits in the pilot's seat, "You can contact the Jedi Council on the way."

He smiles and sits in the co-pilot's seat, "Well, as long as I have no choice."

Obi-Wan wakes up in a cave with energy shackles chaining him to a platform below him, which gives the only light. He notices a cloaked figure in the corner: Darth Maul.

"The Sith apprentice," Obi-Wan struggles against his shackles to no avail.

Dooku steps into the light, "Darth Maul is the least of your worries at the moment."

"...Traitor."

"I assume you have heard of me, young Knight?"

"Many Jedi have heard the name of Count Dooku. You were once an honored hero."

"Count Dooku... That name no longer has any meaning. That man has died and I was born in his place. I am Darth Tyrannus."

"You've joined the Sith. You allied yourself with people who have killed your former allies."

Dooku glances at Maul, "Being a Sith demands sacrifices,... but we are in control of our own destinies."

"What about Master Sifo-Dyas? He was your friend, wasn't he? Did he share your vision?"

"As a matter of fact, he did. He was my apprentice. He joined the Sith but preferred to operate among the Jedi and the Republic. He hoped to destroy it from within."

"No, the Council would have detected him."

"But they didn't. That's the trouble with you Jedi. You always think you know precisely what is happening."

"Sifo-Dyas commissioned a clone army for the Republic. You hired Jango Fett to serve as the host. Why?"

"Sifo-Dyas tried to usurp me and I was forced to destroy him. When I learned of his army, I decided to complete its creation for my own purpose."

"Is that how the Sith operate? To betray each other? Murder each other? It's no wonder why you nearly went extinct."

"As I said, we believe in controlling our own destinies. Even if it means destroying anything in our path. This includes loved ones."

"Fitting. The Republic will use your own army against you. They'll destroy the Seperatists."

"It doesn't matter who wins the upcoming war. The Sith will reign supreme either way."

"You've set yourself up to be disappointed."

Dooku directs his attention to the cave walls, "Did you feel something when you woke in this cave? I brought you to it for a purpose. It is a domain of the Darkside of the Force. There may be others like it in the galaxy, but I was once brought to this one specifically. I received visions. All that I took with me was laid bare and my true self emerged. This is where Count Dooku died and Darth Tyrannus was born. I hope it will reveal something to you. I hope it will show you the Darkside of the Force. Then will you understand," he turns and leaves with Darth Maul.

"As I said, you've set yourself up to be disappointed," Obi-Wan calls after them.

"We shall see," Dooku's voice trails off as he disappears into the darkness of a tunnel.

Maul and Dooku emerge from the mouth of the cave and approach a speeder. "I sense another disturbance," Maul reveals, "The Jedi's apprentice approaches. I believe it is the one they believe to be the Chosen One."

"By all means," Dooku begins, "Let's put the prophecy to the test."

"What will we do with him?," Maul motions toward the cave while clenching his metal fist, "I would love to take revenge for the loss of my arm."

"We see if he passes the test. The Seperatist Movement is my mission, not yours. Remember, you are only an apprentice."

"An apprentice to Darth Sidious, not you!"

"If you do not appreciate how I conduct my business, take it up with your master," Dooku leaves Maul who sneers in anger.

Obi-Wan closes his eyes as he drifts off, then they snap back open. He drifts off again and jerks awake, staring at the walls of the cave. Once more, he drifts asleep but it is a trance-like state. He snaps his eyes open one last time and finds himself standing in the cave with no restraints. He has little time to question this as he notices a figure approaching. Darth Maul moves toward him with his hood up, concealing his face in shadow. His metal hand reaches into his cloak and pulls his lightsaber. Both blades ignite and he spins them around as he approaches. Obi-Wan throws himself to the ground as a red saber blade passes overhead. He then rolls along the ground as another strike shatters the rocks behind him. He reaches out, Force-pushing his opponent to the other side of the cave to gain some distance so he can rise to his feet. The figure stands up, his hood now dropped. As the figure turns, it reveals the face... of Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Obi-Wan shakes his head in disbelief as he sees his own Darkside reflection. Dark Obi-Wan smiles sadistically as he twirls his red saber and takes his fighting stance. Obi-Wan then notices a glowing blue lightsaber in his own hand, already ignited. "No,.. this isn't real," Obi-Wan says to himself, "This is not who I am." Dark Obi-Wan roars in anger and comes at him, but the Jedi closes his eyes and straightens up in complete meditation as he holds the lightsaber up to his face. As the hooded figure swings his lightsaber at Obi-Wan, it passes through him. A moment later, the black cloak and lightsaber fall to the floor of the cave. Obi-Wan pokes at the smoking pile with the tip of his boot in curiosity.

Hours later, Count Dooku passes through the cave tunnel and emerges where Obi-Wan is kept. He remains unconscious and still shackled. He wakes up, groggy and delirious. Dooku examines him and then finally asks, "What did you learn?"

"I learned my faith was stronger than yours," Obi-Wan retorts.

Two B2 super battle droids come up to Dooku and he loudly commands, "Take him to the arena!".
