Obi-Wan and Anakin throw off their cloaks and pace to either side of Dooku. He ignites his own red lightsaber and readies himself. "You won't get away this time, Tyrannus," Obi-Wan attacks first and then Anakin. Dooku backs away, swinging his saber in either direction as he blocks the strikes, eventually pivoting toward the balcony area. Eventually, Obi-Wan positions himself in front of him with Anakin to the back. Dooku spins, deflecting both blades with one strike and backs away to face both of them.
"I've been looking forward to this," he gloats.
"My powers have doubled since the last time we met," Anakin tells him.
"Good. Twice the pride, double the fall."
Dooku lunges at the Jedi and they fall back. Obi-Wan tries to parry, but Dooku slides his blade to the side, forcing Obi-Wan to stumble into Anakin's path. He spins around and raises his blade, blocking both Jedi at once. He Force-pushes Obi-Wan to the ground, then ducks under Anakin's swipe before leaping up the nearby stairs. He backs up the stairs as Anakin follows, blocking several attacks as he makes his way up to the balcony. Obi-Wan gets up and tries to run up the flight of stairs at the other end of the balcony. The droids fire at him, so he deflects one shot back, destroying a droid. He rushes the next one, slicing off its blaster-arm, then taking out its leg. He emerges on the other side of Dooku and brings his saber down. Dooku blocks the strike, then kicks Anakin in the face as he advances. He reaches out, force-choking Obi-Wan before hurling him across the room where the Jedi lands in an unconscious heap. Dooku then flips off the balcony as Anakin takes another shot at him.
Anakin leaps after him, performign a flying kick to Dooku's chest which sends him falling over a meeting table. Anakin takes a look at his unconscious master and becomes visibly angry as he charges forward, slicing the table in half as he makes his way to Dooku. They lock swords and begin struggling against one another. "I sense great fear in you, Skywalker. You have hate, you have anger, but you don't use them," Dooku shoves him back and twirls his saber around, forcing Anakin to block several attacks and pivot away to give some distance. He regains his composure and attacks once more as the Dark Lord continues his spin to meet him head on. Their fighting becomes even more intense asanakin drives him back with several spinning attacks. Dooku seemingly becomes panicked as he tries several hard saber swings. Anakin twirls around positioning himself behind Dooku who spins, trying to take one more wild swing until Anakin clashes their swords together and grabs him by the wrist. With one move, Anakin slices off both of the Sith's hands. As his saber goes flying, Anakin catches it and places both blades across Dooku's shoulders in an x-pattern. He falls to his knees in fear and pain and Anakin holds his head between the blades.
"Good, Anakin," Palpatine shouts with excitement, "... Good. I knew you could do it," he becomes more serious, "... Kill him."
Dooku turns to Palaptine with a surprised look, "... What?"
Palaptine meets his gaze, "Kill him now!"
"I shouldn't . . .," Anakin begins to calm down somewhat as he grows confused.
"Listen to me, Skywalker," Dooku pleads, "... Nothing is as it seems."
"Do it!," Palaptine shouts, "As Supreme Chancellor, I command it!"
Anakin cuts off Dooku's head, his lifeless body falling limp. Anakin turns off his blades as he catches his breath.
"... I couldn't control myself," Anakin tosses Dooku's saber in disgust.
"You did well, Anakin," Palaptine tells him as Anakin frees him from his restraints, "He was too dangerous to be kept alive."
"Yes, but he was an unarmed prisoner. This goes against Jedi Code... and Republic Law."
"It is only natural. He cut off your arm, and you wanted revenge. It wasn't the first time, Anakin. Remember what you told me about your mother and the Sand People. Now, we must leave before more security droids arrive."
Anakin rushes over to Obi-Wan and helps him onto his feet. Palpatine heads for the elevators, "There is no time. We must get off the ship before it's too late."
"His fate will be the same as ours," he slings him over his shoulder and they make their way to the elevator, "We have to get to the escape pods."
In the elevator, Anakin rests Obi-Wan on the floor, "Master... can you stand?"
Obi-Wan rises, "Where are we?"
"We're back in the elevator... Dooku is dead."
"There's some good news."
"I'm surprised they haven't shut off the power yet."
"More traps, I imagine."
"But I don't hear anything... Nor do I sense anything. It doesn't seem as if anymore enemies are coming for us."
"That's what worries me the most."
"All the more reason to get to the escape pods as quickly as possible," Palpatine warns.
They arrive in an escape pod hangar, the Jedi stepping out first with their lightsabers in a defensive position. "No droids in sight," Anakin explains. Obi-Wan directs his attention to the long row of empty pod bays, "And no escape pods in sight." Palpatine meekly steps out to look over the empty bays. A hologram projector blips on, drawing their attention. A hologram of Darth Maul appears. "If you are receiving this message, then you must have survived long enough to make it to the pod bays," the message begins, "This ship has been set to descend into orbit. Timed explosives will render the engines useless and allow it to plummet into the surface below. I wish I could be there to see your death in person, Obi-Wan Kenobi." The message fades.
"Always such a charmer," Obi-Wan moans and quickly turns, "Anakin, do you think we can land this ship safely?"
"Our chances are slim but it's worth a shot."
"I have complete faith in your skills, as always, Anakin," Palpatine tells him.
Soon, they emerge in the pilot's bridge. They peer out the window and see clouds and sunnlight. "We've already lowered into the atmosphere," Obi-Wan warns. IN the ships hold, a timed bomb goes off, the light shifting from green to red. Suddenly, it explodes, forcing the men to stumble as the ship is rocked. Outside the ships, hull, another explosion erupts while the other section of the ship is on fire. The ship tilts and begins to fall out of the sky. Inside, the three men hold on as the ship tilts and begins to plummet through the clouds, showing the vast cityscape of Coruscant below.
Anakin holds onto a pilot's chair and climbs in, emergency seat belts sliding into place as he does so. Obi-Wan holds on to his chair and motions toward Palpatine. He is moved into the navigational set where he is strapped in as well. Then Obi-Wan pulls himself into the co-pilot's chair and straps in. "Open all hatches," Anakin commands, "Extend all flaps and drag fins." Hatches and fins along the outside of the ship pop open and the rear fins fold down over the thrusters. The fires on the outside get worse and as the ship plummets, the back section of the ship begins to burn and break apart. Soon, the entire back section breaks apart. "I think we lost something," Obi-Wan says, "At least you're still piloting half a ship." "Try to keep us level," Anakin pulls up on the controls and Obi-Wan follows suit.
They pass the clouds and head for the city. Twin fighters flank the falling ship. "Fire ships on the left and right," Obi-Wan announces as they begin to put out the flames ont he outside of the ship. Anakin spots a landing strip, "Landing strip ahead. We're coming in hot... Power down rear thrusters". The ship lands upright, but hits the ground hard, digging a large trench into the strip as it grinds past a control tower and rips a communication antennae down. "Reverse thrusters," Anakin shouts. The reverse thrusters on the front of the ship ignite and slow it down as it drags along the ground, sending sparks and debris. Finally, it comes to a stop as everyone inside lurch forward. What's left of the damaged ship smoke and falls apart as Republic soldiers rush toward it outside. "Another happy landing," Obi-Wan chuckles.
