In the halls of the Jedi temple, Anakin approaches Mace Windu.
"Master Windu, I must talk to you."
"Indeed. You have not given your report on Chancellor Palpatine."
"I know, Master. I'm sorry. I spoke with the Chancellor and he won't give up his power. I've just learned a terrible truth. I think Chancellor Palpatine is a Sithlord."
"A Sithlord?"
"Yes. The one behind everything we have encountered for years now. He knows the ways of the Force. He has been trained to use the darkside."
"How do you know this?"
"He told me this himself. He was also aware of certain... visions I've been having lately."
"Then our worst fears have been realized. We must move quickly if the Jedi Order is to survive. I will alert Master Yoda."
"Master, the Chancellor is very powerful. You will need my help if you are going to arrest him."
"For your own good, stay out of this affair. I sense a great deal of confusion in you, young Skywalker. There is much fear that clouds your judgment."
"I must go, Master."
"No. If what you told me is true, you will have gained my trust, but for now remain here."
"Yes, Master."
"Wait for us in the Jedi Temple until we return."
"Yes, Master."
Anakin watches as the Jedi leaves.
On Utapau, Darth Maul performs a series of somersault, forcing Obi-Wan to the edge of the platform where a long drop awaits. Darth Maul thrusts his saber like a polearm, but Obi-Wan pivots away from the blade to avoid being run through, then brings his own blade down, breaking the lightsaber in two once again. Darth Maul backflips away, spins his single saber around, then goes for Obi-Wan's head. The Jedi cocks his head back to avoid decapitation, then drives him back with several jabs. Maul flips back, landing on the palm of his hand, then kicks Obi-Wan. Maul runs toward the nearby shuttle, kicks off it, then flies into a spinning attack. Obi-Wan blocks it but the force of the attack pushes him to the floor. Maul brings his blade down again and the Jedi rolls out of the way at the last second as a shower of sparks fly. Maul turns ot follow just asObi-Wan rises in a crouching position and thrusts his blade upward. Maul stops moving and drops his saber. Obi-Wan's saber extends out of his back for a seocnd before he turns it off and Maul falls into his arms.
"And so it ends," Maul says weakly.
"And so it does."
"You must... defeat the Sith."
"We will."
"One more... thing. Palpatine... has a new apprentice."
"Who?"
"Sky... Walker."
With that, Darth Maul dies, leaving a confused Obi-Wan still holding on to him.
In a spacecraft field on Coruscant, Palpatine watches as Clone Troopers load themselves into transport ships. A cruiser hovers in the sky as gunships dock with it, carrying AT-AP Walkers. Senators Amidala, Organa, and Mon Mothma approach him.
"Chancellor, what is this?," Bail Organa asks.
"We have picked up a distress beacon from the Utapau system," Palpatine explains calmly, "The remaining Seperatist forces are there. They must be wiped out once and for all."
"But the Senate was not informed. We had to learn of this by chance while listening to communication channels."
"I'm afraid time was of the essence."
"Perhaps the Jedi can deal with this matter," Padme pleads.
"They have been less than cooperative of late, if I'm being honest. Not to worry. We will deal with this matter as soon as possible."
"And once the Seperatists are defeated," Padme begins, "... You will step down as Supreme Chancellor?"
Palpatine politely bows, "Excuse me. I believe I have an urgent meeting to attend," with that, he leaves and the Senators gaze at one another worryingly.
At the Jedi Temple, Mace Windu faces the Jedi Council, "... If what Skywalker says is true, Chancellor Palpatine is a Sithlord."
"Clouded our connection to the Force has been," Yoda concurs, "Arrest Chancellor Palpatine we must."
"Master Kenobi is on Utapau as we speak," Ki-Adi-Mundi points out, "If Palpatine is using this war to stay in power, we must act quickly and defeat the Seperatists."
"To Utapau, we will go. Alert all available Jedi to that location," once Yoda sends the commands, the rest of the Council quickly leaves to gather their forces, leaving him and Mace.
"In the meantime, I'll assemble a few Jedi to arrest the Chancellor," Windu explains.
"Hm, dark times these are."
In a meditation room, Anakin sits with his eyes closed and his legs crossed. His brow furrows as he hears the voice of Padme, "Anakin... Anakin... help me!". He opens his eyes and finds Darth Vader sitting across from him.
"I want nothing to do with you," he exclaims.
"You would not be having this vision if you didn't. The Chancellor has a way to save Padme and your child. You should trust him. The Jedi, meanwhile, have nothing to offer."
"That's a lie. I've been a pawn and I will no longer allow myself to be manipulated."
"The time for talking is over," Vader stands to his feet and ignites his lightsaber."
Anakin rises and reaches for his belt, remembering that he no longer has a saber.
"See, you've abandoned the ways of the Jedi already," Vader slowly raises his saber, "You no longer belong to them. Now, you shall be reborn a Sith!"
Vader thrusts his lightsaber into Anakin's chest. Anakin's eyes snap open and he clutches his torso which has no wound. He catches his breath and his eyes narrow. He calmly stands up and leaves the room.
Jedi star fighters and a gunship land near a sinkhole on Utapau. Yoda and an army of Jedi curiously walk through the brush as they approach a Clone landing party. Several Clone gunships and fighters have already landed and several walkers are in the distance, stomping through the trees. Clone troopers of various ranks prepare what seems to be an invasion. Yoda approaches a Clone commander.
"What business do you have here?," he asks the commander.
"We have been instructed to assist the Jedi in defeating the Droid Army, General Yoda," the commander tells him, "We have located various pockets of resistance on this planet. We await your orders, sir."
Yoda looks at the commander with suspicion. Far away, Obi-Wan rides his lizard back to the area and stops once he notices a Republic cruiser hovering in the air. "What are the Clones doing here?," he mutters to himself.
