Tori walks down the hall careful to balance the two cups of coffee as well as a muffin, she awkwardly kicks the door not having enough hands to give a proper knock. As the door swings open she tries to rein in her disappointment as she sees Merideth, Jade's roommate and Tori's best friend, standing there giving her a look full of pity. Tori just sighs giving her the coffee and muffin as she closes the door behind her and they walk down the hall to head to their first class.

"I gotta admire your dedication. This is what the third time this week she hasn't been here" Meredith says as she throws an arm over Tori's slumped shoulders.

"Fourth" Tori corrects, "It's not her fault, shes busy"

"Too busy to have a coffee with her long term girlfriend," Meredith says worried about her friend who doesn't seem to believe that her relationship is ending. "Let's forget about her are you ready for this afternoon"

"As ready as I can be," Tori says, forcing a smile as she pushes aside her worries instead of focusing on her presentation that's worth half her grade.

"Yes, Mum I am eating well, no I haven't had a single alcoholic drink," Jade says as she swings around in circles on her chair in the middle of her room glad that her roommate was nowhere to be seen.

"Alright," Dr. West says, not believing a word that comes out of her daughter's mouth. "Let me talk to Tori quick"

"She's not here," Jade says moving back to her desk to continue working

"Oh I assumed you two were attached to the hip," Dr. West says surprise evident in her voice "Well I just wanted to know how her presentation went I know how nervous she has been, not to mention the fact that she is giving it to that teacher that has been giving her a hard time"

"What presentation?" Jade asks distractedly as she scribbles down some notes to remember.

"Oh no that bad" Dr. West says concerned about her future daughter-in-law; she hasn't sounded herself the last few times they have talked. "I'm going to go finish up your care packages to send in the morning, hopefully that will cheer her up a bit," says, giving a quick goodbye leaving a confused Jade staring at her phone. Having no idea what her mother was talking about she pulls up her texts to Vega to find out what was going on but stops in shock as she sees a string of unread texts from Vega.

Can't wait for our date tonight x

Hey just checking that you are alright

Jade?

Meredith says you are fine. I will leave you to your studying

See you in the morning

Jade stares at the texts, her heart clenching in guilt, made worse when she sees they are dated a little more than a week ago. She throws her phone to the side as she tries to remember the last time she saw Vega, which she can't. She thinks it was a few weeks ago but even then it was just a quick coffee in the morning before class. Slamming her hands on to her desk she scrambles to push herself up searching for her keys and phone she rushes out the door.

As Jade runs up to the door she takes a second to sort herself out, glad that Vega didn't have a roommate that would see her begging for Vega's forgiveness. She knocks fidgeting as she waits. Tori groans as she pulls herself from the pile of blankets she had buried herself under grabbing one of the tissues she had scattered around her she gives her face one more wipe to try and hide her tears as she prepares herself to murder the idiot across the hall from her.

"Chad I have told you a million times to stay the hell away from me…." she had been prepared to scream more but stopped short finding herself confused as to why her girlfriend was standing in front of her. Jade feels her heart clench yet again when she sees her girlfriend's eyes still red from tears, and her face forcing itself into a fake expression that Jade had only ever seen her direct at her parents before, never her. She curses herself for breaking her promise to never hurt her as her parents do. "Jade, is everything okay?"

"Not really can we talk," Jade says, and Tori forces herself to hold in tears she was a champion CFC fighter, she would not cry. "I brought ice cream" Tori just moves back from the door walking to her bed and cleaning up the mess she made as she hears Jade rummage around for spoons. Neither says anything as they climb up on the bed sitting cross-legged across from one another. As time stretches on Tori snaps.

"I know why you're here, would you just get it over with plese" Tori says as she closes her eyes, losing her fight against her tears.

"I'm sorry," Jade says, feeling more and more guilty as Vega lets out a choked sob.

"It's fine everyone said this would happen eventually right. I mean they even said it this morning that I should break up with you before you broke up with me" Tori says sadly "Like that would hurt any less" Jade just sits there feeling as though someone had just dumped a bucket of ice water over her head.

"Tori please I know I messed up but I love you please give me another chance," Jade tells her as she starts to cry "Please don't break up with me"

"You just broke up with me," Tori says in confusion as she fights to stop herself from reaching across to wipe away Jade's tears, always having hated to see Jade cry. She watches as Jade shakes her head like a crazy person "you said we need to talk"

"Yeah about how I have been a terrible girlfriend," Jade says, feeling herself become more and more panicked.

"You don't want to break up with me?" Tori asks,

"No, do you want to break up with me?" Jade asks, fearful of the answer Tori just shakes her head as they launch themselves at each other wrapping themselves around each other as they end up lying down curled together, ice cream left forgotten on the bedside table. They lie like that for a long time happy to hold each other after the terrifying moments where they thought they were losing each other. Eventually Jade pulls back just enough to look into her girlfriend's eyes with one hand she reaches up tucking Vega's hair behind her ear neither willing to break eye contact. "Tori, I'm so sorry, that I haven't been here the last few weeks"

"It's fine, you have been busy" Tori dismisses looking away, Jade just grabs her chin directing their eyes back together.

"I should have been here, I have been busy, but I could have been doing better, I shouldn't have been missing our morning coffee together, I should have been making sure to text you back and I shouldn't have been skipping our dates with no notice especially after how scared you were the last time," Jade says thinking back to the year before where Vega was having nightmares after Jade's car accident.

"We have both been busy," Tori tells her "we knew things would be harder this year" Jade gives her head another shake, she would not let herself become like Vega's parents who were never there for her.

"You have been making the time for us, I should have been doing the same. I promise I will do better"

"Okay," Tori says, leaning forward for a kiss not fully believing her but desperately wanting to. They lay in silence again, it doesn't last long for Jade to break it again.

"Now, please tell me about your presentation, and this teacher I need to stab" Tori lets out a laugh before launching into a story.

When Tori wakes to an empty bed she pushes down the anxious feeling that settles back into the pit of her stomach. Quickly getting herself ready she gathers her things heading down to the coffee cart she, prepares herself for the fact that Jade may not be in her dorm, but she isn't sure if she can handle another disappointment. She stops short when she gets to the door of her building surprised to find Jade standing there with two coffee cups in her hand.

"Can I walk you to class?" Jade says holding out a hand for Tori with a hopeful smile on her face.

"I'd love that"
