O'Neill couldn't believe it. Why would they allow a reporter and her camera crew on a top secret base? The reporter's only lead was a program funded by some slush fund and a sample of metal they called trinium. Just deny, deny, deny. Obviously the SGC had a leak that desperately needed plugging. They already had the story killed in the major press. If it appeared at all it would be in the rags that trafficked in scandals, conspiracies and ads for snake oil. It made absolutely no sense to O'Neill, and while he objected the others around the conference table proceeded to make plans.

The reporter, her producer and a camera crew of four were invited aboard the as of yet unfinished X-303. The group had signed the non disclosure agreement and all notes and film would be turned over to the Air Force.

The X-303 had been Carter's baby since the event in Steveson when she discovered the half constructed ship. The ship was transported to Area 51 in Nevada where Colson Industries and the Air Force restructured the vehicle and attempted to make it space worthy.

Although Jack was enduring one of the worst experiences of his life at the time he was glad to have been spared that. He had a particular dislike of Colson. Perhaps it was the way Colson looked at Carter or the way they could communicate at a different level than he could. And no, he was not jealous, not much.

O'Neill opted out of babysitting the reporter and company, relegating that treat to Carter who was vastly more knowledgeable about the ship. When O'Neill had been informed that the X-303 had been hijacked his blood pressure skyrocketed. He didn't believe for a minute their threat they'd blow the hyperspace engines. Certainly not with themselves aboard, it made no sense. But higher ups couldn't risk it, since the explosion could take out Nevada.

O'Neill was transported to Nevada to take control of the situation and where he vented his rage at Major Davis. Here he had to witness the Goa'uld Adrian Conrad and Frank Simmons (O'Neill refused to use the appellation Colonel) driven to the base and escorted to the ship. These two he had brought to justice and hoped to never see again, these two were given the newest ship of the fleet and a ticket to freedom. He would have gladly shot them both. The icing on the cake was Carter was on board and in jeopardy. She was not a hostage but locked below decks and in an area without life support.

They couldn't have retaken the ship without Carter, her quick thinking and bravery. Also he had to thank Rya'c for the death glider that got Teal'c and him aboard when Sam slowed the ship. The only bright spot for O'Neill was spacing the implanted Simmons, couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.

Now that he had finally taken back control of the ship, there were two dead bodies, and some people aboard he couldn't trust. At least his team was safe and sound but Carter hadn't a clue where they were and therefore could not plot a way home. They were, dare he say, "Lost in Space". And they refused to let him call the ship the Enterprise. And his back was killing him.
