Qrow wasn't the type of guy who liked getting overwhelmed. It was one thing to take on an elite White Fang member, but it was another to take him on with an entire platoon of White Fang members shooting him. He had to fight Adam Taurus on the defensive, taking potshots at White Fang members when he could. Sometimes he would shoot them down with his greatsword's gun, but often, Adam would absorb the bullets with his sword and attack back with more strength than Qrow could handle. It was like a claw-swipe from some of the strongest Grimm he ever fought, and coming from a Faunus.

He had his back to the door, which to his relief was still closed. He had been fighting for several minutes, trying to keep all of the White Fang out of the castle, to keep his nieces and their friends safe. He couldn't stop a group of White Fang a while ago from entering, but he didn't have time to worry about them.

"You're quite the handful, Taurus," Qrow lifted his sword on his shoulder, and stumbled, "A little embarrassed to say that I might have underestimated you. 'Course, your minions are certainly doing their job."

Adam approached the old hunter, a finger on his sheath's trigger, "It isn't too late. You can still back out. Walk away from this."

Qrow shook his head, "How kind of you. But I already told you. You're not getting in. And you're not gonna lay one finger on Blake."

"You don't even know her," he tried to hide his snarl.

"I know my niece is probably fucking her," Qrow grinned, "And I think that's good enough reason."

Qrow's greatsword transformed into a scythe, akin to his niece. Adam drew his chokuto and his men aimed their weapons at the Old Hunter. None of them expected what was to come next, "HEADS UP!" from atop one of the castle towers, a woman with yellow hair came flying down toward them. Shotgun blasts came down on the White Fang members, knocking out several of them. She crashed on one of the bigger White Fang members, and knocked him out in a crater. She held her arms and aimed her gauntlets at the rest of the White Fang.

"Flashy entrance," Qrow snarked, "I thought I told you and the girls to get the hell out of here."

Yang shrugged, "That was the plan until these guys showed up."

"And where's the others?"

"I'd be worried about Ruby. She went after Torchwick and that tiny bitch of his. Unless you think Weiss's sister could cover her?"

"What and leave you alone with him?"

Yang nodded. She stared ahead at Adam Taurus. She couldn't see his eyes, but she could feel his gaze on her, "I don't know who you are, but this fight is mine."

The White Fang aimed their weapons at her, but Adam raised his arm, "Wait. I'll deal with the girl. Go after the Hunter."

Qrow narrowed his eyes, "You got any idea on who you're up against, Yang?"

"He's really strong is my guess,"

Qrow whispered to Yang, "His sword cuts through aura. He's nicked me a few times. I don't got a complete idea, but I think his semblance has something to do with his sword. He's taken a few of my bullets, and he's struck me back harder."

Yang nodded, "Got it."

The White Fang stared down Qrow, who had one eye on Adam and one on his niece. Adam returned the favor, but his focus was shifting to this new contender. His finger rubbed his sheath's trigger. Yang focused everything on Adam Taurus. She waited. For someone to make the first move.

"What in the world is that?" a White Fang member asked, pointing to the Red Tornado a ways east of the castle. He only had a moment to ponder this phenomenon for a moment when Qrow fired his gun at him. This earned him the White Fang opening fire. He jumped to the wall and taunted them to follow.

Before he led them away, he gave one more look to Yang. She and Adam threw themselves at each other. He saw her throw a punch at Adam's side and nodded approvingly. He fled when the White Fang's bullets grazed too close for comfort.

Down at the courtyard, Adam felt his side and growled. He popped his neck and gripped his chakuto, "You got a lucky hit in."

Yang popped her neck. It echoed off the walls, "Luck ain't got nothing to do with it," she stepped to the left, and Adam stepped to his, "The way I heard. You and Blake used to go way back."

"You'd be right. Way back," he fired his sword toward Yang and leaped toward her. Yang couldn't dodge in time, and brought her forearms in front of her. The metal of her gauntlets clinked on his chokuto. Adam pushed his blade, to cut through her defenses. But to his surprise, she grabbed his sword and held it back, "Using your aura to shield your hands from my blade. Clever move."

"No. That's not the clever move. This is!" she swiftly aimed her gauntlet at Adam's head and fired a round. It threw him across the courtyard into a pile of snow. He looked up to see a barrage of shotgun rounds bombarding him. He suffered the first few rounds, but he absorbed the rest into his chakuto.

He sheathed his blade, and concentrated. Yang was on her guard and held up her gauntlets again, "That was your clever move? Well, here's mine," he slashed his sword. The energy he absorbed from Yang's gauntlets was condensed into an augmented sword slash, that threw Yang to the ground, and left a crevasse in the House of Schnee, several feet deep.

Adam sheathed his sword and walked toward Yang. She was on the ground, face in the snow. To his brief surprise, she rose to her feet, a shallow scar across her arms, "Is that all you got?" Adam's finger went to its sheath, "Alright. My Turn!"

Yang jumped in the air her first raised, Adam narrowed his eyes and partially pulled his sword out. She came before him and punched the ground, and a great explosion erupted beneath his feet, throwing him into the air. Yet despite the pain it caused him, he absorbed all of the energy and slashed his sword again. His semblance, where he absorbs attacks through his sword and strikes with it, was a great weapon for the White Fang.

But Yang took the hit, her arms scarring deeper than before, and her eyes glowed hotter. Her hair turned a brighter yellow, and she threw herself at Adam once again. She was faster and she threw a punch at his stomach before he could react. Her semblance, where the more she suffered in battle, the stronger she became, was a useful tool in fighting Grimm.

Adam was knocked into the wall, where it cracked beneath him. Yang approached him, and got ready for his counterattack, "You and I. We have similar semblances," Adam said as he got himself up on his feet, "We'll be throwing our attacks back at each other, getting stronger with each hit. But I wonder, which one of us will fall first."

Yang smiled, "I won't. I made a promise," she put her right hand over her heart, "That I would save someone important to me, and that I would get her home safe."

Adam scowled, "Blake. So, you're involved with that traitor? She. She broke her promise to me. So I made a promise. That I would destroy everything she loved!" as he stepped forward, an aura glowed from his sword, "And I'll start with you!"

Yang's hair glowed bright yellow, almost like a fire, "Go ahead and try!"

They leaped into the air. Yang pulled her fist back, her aura enveloping it like fire. Adam clutched his trigger, his aura glowing from his sword. They screamed at each other before they clashed, and it was not their weapons that they fought with. No, it wasn't any weapon that could create an explosion like that. One that tore the courtyard in half, and shattered parts of the wall.

Only a clash between auras could do that.

In that clash, it was not a battle between two people that was to be solved, but a question. Did Adam want to kill Blake more than Yang wanted to save her? No, I don't think that's what it was. Or at least that's not why Yang won. The reason Yang stood up from that clash and not Adam, was because she loved Blake, more than he hated her.

He was on the ground, gasping for air. His mask cracked slightly, just before it reached the middle of his face. He glared at Yang and tried to stand, but he stumbled back down.

Yang pitied him, "The names Yang. You better remember it. Because if you ever think about hurting Blake again, you better remember the girl that kicked your ass just for wanting to hurt her."

Yang glared down at the swordsman for a brief moment, then walked away, her gauntlets turned to their inactive forms. She was walking to the castle doors, thinking she was going to reunite with Weiss and Blake before they rendezvoused back with Ruby. She didn't think about the rocket firing at her.

She fell over and coughed up dust. Her aura protected her from the blast, but the impact still felt like the swipe of a bear. She tried getting up, but another rocket blasted her. This time she punched it away, and it exploded a safe distance away. Then came the bullets. She held up her arms and her gauntlets activated to block the onslaught.

Atop the walls, the second wave of White Fang members climbed the wall to carry out the invasion. When they saw a human standing over their leader, they couldn't find it within themselves to let her walk away. They had to retaliate, and so they opened fire. Machine guns, pistols, and bazookas fired upon Yang. She was doing her best to protect herself from this overwhelming assault, but bullets were grazing her too much. How many scars would she have at the end of this battle? Did she know about the bullet wounds? Or the shrapnel cutting her? Her aura was blocking most of the damage, but an aura has its limits. Sooner or later, her soul would give out. And what then?

Adam got back on his feet and stared at the onslaught. The bazooka rockets delivered a cloud of dust that obscured Yang. Now the White Fang members came down to the courtyard, almost shooting Yang at point-blank range.

I'm certain they didn't expect to see what followed.

A pillar of yellow light erupted from the dust cloud. It rose toward the sky, higher than the House of Schnee, until it parted the clouds. As the light dissipated, Yang walked out glowing. She grinned at the White Fang before she returned fire.

Qrow walked over to the airfield, dragging the last White Fang member by his shirt, "Here's the last one, Schnee," he threw him into the hangar, "Think it's wise to make this the prison?"

Winter shrugged, "We have to put them somewhere. Besides, the dungeon might be compromised. At least we can keep an eye on them here."

Qrow looked down at his own feet and said, "Thanks again, Winter for keepin' my niece safe."

Winter smiled, "I wouldn't say that. I think, she's the one who saved me."

Qrow nodded, "Normally I wouldn't ask this, but you managed to get a word out to Ironwood?"

"Our signals are better than before, but we can't send anything across the world just yet,"

"That idiot really had to bring his whole fleet to Vale didn't he?" Qrow sighed, and while Winter admonished him for insulting her superior he suggested, "Get a message to Atlesian military, and have them pass it along to Ironwood. We need air support now!"

As Winter was about to issue orders to her men, she caught eye of the pillar of yellow light, "What in the world is that?"

Qrow turned around and his eyes widened, "Crap! That's my niece!" thoughts were rushing through his mind. He didn't have time to part words with Winter, nor did he care that she witnessed him transforming into a crow. He flew toward the House of Schnee and circled the wall.

Down in the courtyard, he witnessed his niece, blasting the White Fang with bursts of yellow light. His eyes caught sight of a raven landing on one of the towers of the castle. He flew upwards to join it.

"Not even gonna help her?" he asked.

"Why should I? She's doing fine on her own," she said.

"How long have you been watching?"

"Just a minute. When you hear the clash of swords, you can't stay away," she grinned, "She's doing well. I was sure she was dead, but,"

"But what? What happened to her?"

"Whatever happened. Something triggered inside of her. That light you saw. That was her. But, it wasn't her aura or her semblance," Raven watched the battle with a glint in her eye, "I think, that was her pulling her soul out."

"Her soul? So. She's using her soul for what? Ammunition for her weapon?"

Raven shook her head, "No, you idiot. She's using her soul as a weapon."

Yang didn't know how she was still standing, nor how she was blasting yellow energy at the White Fang, but with every punch, a burst of energy came forth and knocked out a White Fang member. One of them fired a bazooka at her. It hurt, but the energy she fired back was stronger than before.

She wondered if this was her semblance at work. Was she getting stronger with every hit, and so this energy was getting stronger too? Either way, she would have to end this battle soon. She didn't know how long this energy would last. And if it did go out, if Adam wasn't defeated.

He came toward her, his sword sheathed. She knew he was going to absorb her energy. So she was going to give him everything she had. Yang threw a punch. Adam stopped just in front of her and pulled his chokuto out to absorb her energy. But this, was more than he ever saw.

It felt like a tidal wave. The energy beam was taller than both of them and wider than the courtyard gates. The energy crashed into the walls, and threatened to break them down.

But Adam, he stood in front of it all, and he absorbed it into his sword. But this was too much energy. If it didn't run out soon, could it overload his semblance? He started sheathing his chokuto.

"No you don't!" Yang shouted, and she threw a punch with her other hand.

The energy grew even more powerful. It threw Adam back. He still held onto his sword, and he tried to sheath it, to activate his semblance, but it was no use. The wall gave way. The energy, now reassembled a tidal wave, and it pulsed through the forest, tearing apart every tree and cutting a trench through the ground. It brought Adam with him, but Yang couldn't see where he went.

Finally, after the energy travelled three miles, it vanished from her fist. Yang was breathing heavy, but she turned her back on the courtyard, and walked inside the castle.

Qrow watched with amazement, as Raven opened a portal, "She's definitely my daughter, Qrow."

His sister disappeared, and he was left to ponder what he just witnessed.
