Bada bing bada bang bada boom we're back mother fuckers. I don't really have much else to put here aside from we're almost at 100 favourites in The unbreakable shield so thanks for that guys! anyways lets move on to the next chapter of The unbreakable shield. oh! also I have a Q&A so go check out my profile please, but more on that at the end of the chapter.
"Well, uh, um..." the shorter of the two figures seemed to stutter before they turned away from Kirishima and Raphtalia.
"I-I'm sorry but his glare is making me to anxious to answer!" they suddenly said in a clearly nervous tone with a much more distinctly feminine voice then before.
"Ah! come on Fuyu-chan you cant back out now after all we agreed that you'd be the one to talk to him!" the taller of the two spoke in a slightly gruff voice while trying to reassure the the smaller of two as the redheaded shield hero and his tanuki companion watched on with sweatdrops on their heads.
"You don't understand Gregar-kun! I'm not as brave as you are!" the now named Fuyu yelled at the also now named Gregar while turning around which, incidentally enough, also caused the hood of her cloak to fall off revealing her long snow-white hair and icy blue eyes to the world, combined with her delicate features she looked quite stunning to almost anyone who would see her.
"Of course your as brave as me if not even braver after all you were the one took down that entire dire wolf pack that attacked us!" he yelled back trying to convince his companion otherwise on her opinion on herself.
"That's only because you were crazy enough to draw their attention away from me long enough for me to cast my spell!" she exclaimed with her retort to his claim.
"Uh, excuse me but you wanted something from me?" Kirishima said trying to dissolve the tension of the two as they were making a scene, also he just wanted to find out what they wanted and be done with it.
"Right!" they both responded as they stood at attention as they only now realise what a commotion they were causing and felt kinda embarrassed by the stares of the people looking at the scene.
"Ahem, well sir shield hero we were hoping to accompany you on your journey to combat the waves." Fuyu said much more professionally now that Kirishima wasn't glaring at her.
"Hm? if you wanted to join me why weren't you at the palace when the adventurer's joined the heroes then?" he asked curiously with slight suspicion.
"W-well...um..." Fuyu looked down looking quite nervous.
"We got lost." the taller of the two said as he scratched the back of his neck.
"Yeah, that." Fuyu confirmed while looking away, embarrassed.
"...How?" Kirishima asked after some silence.
"Well, neither of us has been to Melromarc before and our map was torn apart and eaten by some annoying monsters, so yeah." Gregar replied.
"Alright, well I don't mind you joining my party but just so you know your pay is gonna be based on performance." he told the two while adding them to his party.
"Uh..." Gregar clearly didn't know what that meant if his face of confusion was anything to go by.
"It means the better you do the bigger pay you'll get Gregar-kun." Fuyu informed him.
"Got it!" he said with a nod letting her know he understands now.
"Anyways, I think that proper introductions are in order, I'm Eijiro Kirishima the shield hero!" he said with his usual shark toothed grin.
"I'm Raphtalia!" the young tanuki girl continued with her master's introduction with an adorable smile on her face.
"I'm Fuyu Kita, its a pleasure to meet you!" the white-haired girl told them her name with a small bow.
"Heh, I'm Gregar Plagor but you can just call me Gregar!" the taller of the two spoke with his own grin as he pulled down the hood of his cloak to reveal him having short-medium length black hair, slightly gruff features, and surprisingly gentle magenta eyes.
Somewhere in the forest
"As source of thy power, decipher the laws of nature and pierce my enemies with cold arctic ice, Zweite ice spear!" Fuyu called out her attack as several spears of ice formed in the air before shooting towards a small pack of dire wolves which easily got mowed down by the icy barrage of, well, ice.
As it turned out Fuyu had a massive affinity for ice based magic and she is skilled enough in it that she can cast zweite(mid-tier) ice spells and can even cast first(low-tier) ice spells without even needing to exclaim the full chant and not even need to do any sort of chant for the easiest spells.
"RAGH!" Gregar roared as he barrelled into a bugbear slamming it into a tree before decapitating it with his dual axes, he had at some point lost his cloak revealing to the world his shirtless torso, ripped six-pack, and bulging biceps which made Kirishima have to admit that this guy was manly as fucking hell. the attire he did have consisted of a pair of black bracers on his forearms, loose dark brown pants, and black combat boots, and that's it, nothing else.
Gregar was a dual axe wielding berserker who, more often then not, went into a situation without knowing all the details not to mention he doesn't even have a plan half the time, actually, no, he doesn't have any sort of plan 80% of the time but usually this is offset by his insane natural brutish strength.
Meanwhile Kirishima and Raphtalia were doing quite the deadly dance of death with the redhead blocking attacks and the young tanuki demihuman telling the monsters to piss of by shoving her sword through their skulls, fortunately for the party she has gotten over her fear of blood thanks to Kirishima and a poor, unfortunate rabbit which showed itself to the wrong group at the wrong time.
Eventually though the party went to the spot where Kirishima and Raphtalia stayed the night before and set up camp(they were fighting monsters for the rest of the day).
Hoing through his menu's Kirishima checked everybody's levels.
Kirishima: 19
Raphtalia: 20
Gregar: 21
Fuyu: 22
He kinda found some sort of irony in the fact that his level is the lowest despite him being at the top of the list of names of the party while Fuyu is the highest level despite her being the lowest on the list.
"Alright we should probably figure out our next move should be." he said while transforming his shield into its [Map shield](1) form and then placing it on a nearby tree stump using it as a makeshift table, then he had everyone gather around the stump.
"So Gregar, Fuyu, you guys probably know where is the best place to go so I'll leave it up to you guys." he said as both him and Raphtalia(who was adorably nibbling on some food) looked at their other two party members expectantly.
"Don't look at me, I'm the dumbest one here." Gregar said with a deadpanned tone and expression on his face, it wasn't that he didn't think highly of himself its just that he acknowledges that his entire party was more brain smart then him, he prefers using his fists over thinking dammit!
"Uh... well, the place I'd suggest is the village of Lute." Fuyu said while pointing to the place on the map, looking it over Kirishima saw the village she was referring to was pretty small but was still decently big enough to hold a good-sized population.
"Alright its settled then, we're heading for Lute village tomorrow morning." he said while summoning his shield back to his arm and changing it back to its default form.
"Y-you really think its the best idea!?" she replied startled at his readiness to believe in her suggestion so easily, after all it wasn't the best choice, was it?
"Well you recommended it so I have no doubt this'll be profitable one way or another." he responded with a small smile, he already figured out the type of person Fuyu was, after all Midoriya used to be like this before he started to get some manly confidence under his belt, it was clear that someone or a lot of people have been putting her down for most of her life and this had led her to have doubts in her own abilities regardless of how effective they are, so the easiest way to help her with this was to believe in her so she herself sees she truly is a reliable person.
"Yeah Fuyu-chan! its obvious we're gonna get something good out of this!" Gregar cheered with a grin, Fuyu was the smartest person he knew so if she made a choice which the team leader quickly agreed with then it had to be a good idea!
"Uh...thanks you guys..." she responded almost inaudibly while blushing up a storm at all the "praise" she was getting as she wasn't accustomed to being told her ideas were good.(2)
"Well, how about we all get some rest for tomorrow? after all we're gonna have a busy day right?" Raphtalia suggested to which the other three agreed they all went to their own sleeping places, with Raphtalia taking a nap on Kirishima's lap as she figured his presence somehow wards off nightmares and Kirishima didn't mind this since, as the saying goes, whatever helps her sleep at night.
He also equipped one of his unused shields, turns out if he has them equipped long enough he gets passive bonuses from them so if he simply has his shield in that form while he sleeps it also counts so easy boosts, they may be minor boosts but he learned from his gaming experience every little counts.
Lute village
When Kirishima thought this trip would be profitable he really didn't expect to obtain multiple new shields so easily, but hey hes not gonna complain!

[Rope shield]
Those were just some of the new shields he unlocked but those three in particular stood out.
The [Miner's shield] gave him getting mining abilities, obviously. The [Buzzsaw shield] was unique as it took the form of a sawblade which he could use to actually attack without using his fists or shield bashing someone in the face, and when he tried it out on a tree he cut strait through it with little to no resistance meaning that this was a very dangerous shield, probably not one he'll he using against humans.
The [Rope shield] however had one of the most, interesting effects, aside from being able to unwind and be used like an actual rope it also had another ability called [Airstrike shield] which he was going to test out right now, so putting his arm forward he focused and called out the ability.
"Airstrike shield!" then a big green transparent shield appeared floating in the air.
"Well then, that'll surely be useful!" he said with a smile.
"Hey Kirishima-san, I've been talking to the villagers and it appears they have a problem we could potentially help with." Fuyu said as she walked in with Gregar while Raphtalia hopped off the barrel she was sitting on thinking they may be leaving in a minute because despite the short amount of time shes spent with him, shes learned one thing about Kirishima and that is hes a hero at heart and is always willing to help people, the several people he helped since he entered the village can testify to that.
"Whats the problem?" and as she predicted Kirishima turned his full attention to it.
"Well, it would appear as if monsters have infested the caves in which the villagers used to mine in which has put a dent in resources from underground, however they have somehow dealt with this problem by increasing their proficiency in their agricultural methods to make up for the lost use of the mines." Fuyu explained slightly nervous with Kirishima's attention fully focused on her.
"Ah, so if we were to clear out the baddies infesting the mines the village would be even better off then before!" the redhead said with his shark-toothed grin on face while thinking of being able to help so many people just by clearing out an almost completely abandoned mine.
"Pretty much, though there was said to be some sort of powerful monster in there you I'd advise us to be cautious while we're in there." she said with a look of worry on her features, if there truly want some super strong monster in the caves anyone would be worried!
"Alright then, then we'll just have to be careful and watch each others backs!" but it didn't seem like that extended to Kirishima as he just seemed to be more pumped up about this, oh well...
In the caves
Walking through the labyrinth of a cave system wasn't to difficult due to the map they were graciously given by the village mayor so navigating wasn't that much of an issue, and the natural lighting by the gemstones covering the walls and ceiling also helped and made it so they didn't even need to use torches to see, though they all had a few just in case they went into an area without the crystals giving off light.
"Uh... master?" Raphtalia suddenly spoke while looking up at Kirishima.
"Hm? whats up Raphtalia?" he answered while looking at her showing she had his attention.
"Is there anyway I should properly address you?" she asked somewhat shyly.
"Meh, call me whatever ya want." he replied casually as he turned forward again.
"Oh, ok Eijiro-sama" she said choosing to call him by his first name which unknowing to her, caused a small smile to appear on the redheads features.
After a bit of walking they found a nicely lit and decently open space in the cave so they decided this is where they'll mine out some ore and crystals to bring to the villagers until they could fully clear out the cave.
"Well, we better get to work!" Kirishima said as he swung down next to a couple of crystals and began to mine with Gregar joining him while the girls stood on watch for any monsters.
Then, Raphtalia noticed some paw prints on the ground leading down into one of the tunnels connected to the opening, just as she was about to inform the others she heard footsteps, and what she saw made her heart stop beating for a few seconds before it began to race a mile a minute.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!" she screamed in terror which drew the attention of the two-headed dog monster and it begun to charge toward her seeing her as nothing but its next meal.
But then, Kirishima came right the fuck out of no where and full body tackled it with the force of a speeding 18 wheeler truck and drove it back and away from the young tanuki girl.
"Raphtalia are you ok!?" he shouted out to her as one of the heads tried biting into his shoulder as Kirishima held the other head at bay, only for it to bite down on his hardened body and broke some of its razor sharp teeth.
"Kirishima-sama are you ok!?" Raphtalia yelled in panic, in her mind just because the head recoiled from its attempt didn't mean the redhead was unharmed from its attack.
"I just asked you that!" he replied before hardening one of his fists and smashing it into the two headed dog's head he was holding back.
"But, to answer your question I'm fine, it damaged my clothing more than me." he continued as he raised his shield up and switched it to its [Rope shield] form.
"Alright Raphtalia lets take this guy down just like the rest of the monsters!" Kirishima said while keeping a close eye on the monsters movements, it just seemed to be observing him for now while recovering from his punch.
"B-but it'll kill us! we should run while we can!" she cried out truly scared that a monster will take away someone precious to her again.
"Raphtalia... we cant run from this thing, if it has a canine sense of smell like normal dogs have then it'll be able to track us anywhere so we have to take it down here and now!" he said seriously as the two-headed monster began to charge at him, to which he responded by hardening his hands and grabbing both the heads and skidding back a bit before stopping the beast in its tracks.
"How are you so fearless?..." Raphtalia asked confused as to how her master was so fearless against a monster around twice as tall as him.
"Fearless? heh, I'm far from fearless Raphtalia, there's a difference between being fearless and having the courage to face your fears head on!" he said while starting to push the beast back.
"And in my opinion you only need two things to do something, drive and determination. drive is your motivation for doing it while determination is having the guts to stick to it and see it through to the end!" he continued as he pushed the monster back more and more before shoving both its heads away and giving a punch to each of them.
"I-I understand Eijiro-sama!" Raphtalia said steeling her nerves while taking out her sword, after all she had both the drive and the determination, her drive was to help him survive and her determination was nigh limitless!
"Good, now lets do this and get rid of this thing once and for all!" he said before charging the twin headed beast and shield bashing the fucker before Raphtalia leaped off of his back and twirled in the air gaining momentum before slashing at both heads cutting off one while putting a deep wound in the other, and when she landed the monster charged at her intending to get revenge, only for Kirishima to intervene.
"Airstrike shield!" he yelled out as the floating green shield appeared between the two and the black dog proceeded to run strait into it but it didn't even make a dent while it suffered from a concussion and got stunned, then once the shield dropped Raphtalia ran forward and finished it off by stabbing it in the skull.
"Good job Raphtalia! oof!" Kirishima congratulated her, and she proceeded to tackle him to the ground and hug him while crying tears of relief.
"Please, don't ever leave me Eijiro!" she pleaded with him while forgetting to add "sama" though in the moment neither took notice of that fact while Kirishima just transformed his shield into its default form and then hugged the girl back.
"Sigh, you don't have to worry about that Raphtalia, I'm just glad your ok..." he said gently while patting her back.
"So... we should probably go feed the remains of that thing to my shield and find Fuyu-chan and Gregar-kun."
"No, just a few more minutes..."
Kirishima merely sighed as he laid there hugging his companion in relatively comfortable silence.
And that's it reader(s)! this is chapter 8 of The unbreakable shield and of course I'm sorry it took so long but I just couldn't get my lazy ass up to do anything at all aside from going to the bathroom and getting food so yeah, just be glad I actually finished this thing, at last! anyways as I mentioned at the beginning of the chapter I have made a Q&A fanfiction where you guys, yes you! can ask questions about me and stuff, IDK, anyways feel free to go check it out anytime you want, or not I mean its really your choice what you do but if you don't then I'll be very sad and will probably eat comfort food in my room for a while, but anyways that's it now lets more onto the numbers, er, I guess I mean number since there is only one in the chapter...
