Mana folds her arms with the hood of her gray hoodie draped over her spiky brown hair. She walks down the partially lit sidewalk, passing by various businesses that are still closed for the night. But the lights of a small convenience store up ahead signals that it's still open. She swings the door open and the bell rings as she steps inside.
The bald man behind the counter who was previously sleeping on the job, snorts and quickly wakes up. He cringes as he struggles to keep his balance on the chair that he is leaning back on. Mana chuckles lightly, amused by his goofy behavior and he finally falls to the floor with a thud.
"You alright down there?" she asks, peeking behind the counter.
"F-Fine! Just fine!" he assures her, popping up to his feet. "Customers aren't very common at this time of night. What's a young lady like you doing out so late?"
"Couldn't sleep." She makes her way to the back of the store to grab herself a drink, then heads back to the counter. "Figured I'd get some fresh air and something to drink." She digs in her pocket and places the money on the counter.
"Well be careful out there," the man warns as she heads out.
A cold breeze blows and she places one hand into the middle pocket of her hoodie while using the free hand to hold her drink that she sips on occasionally. She narrows her eyes when she thinks back to one of many arguments between her and Atem.
"Why do you insist on doing this?" he asks as he stands across from her in the bathroom. A pile of clothes lies in between them, stained with blood. After healing herself, she had attempted to wash out the dry blood on her skin and clean up before he found out.
"Atem I'm fi—"
"Mana, this has to stop, now," he says sternly, turning his head to her. She clenches the towel at her chest and looks at him with furrowed brows. "Every time you walk out that door, I'm afraid I'm going to lose you."
"But you're not going to lose me!" Mana shoots back. "I'm right here, aren't I?"
"You're not invisible Mana. You were careless then and you're being careless now. You think having the power to heal yourself will save you all the time. But what happens when you've done too much and you no longer have the strength to?"
She sighs heavily, resting her shoulder on a nearby building and leaning her head on the cold bricks. She hates arguing with him. She doesn't see herself as being careless at all. Not then and not now. In every single situation, she was trying to help others. What's so wrong about that?
She remembers when she was in the hospital all those years ago, laying in her bed. He stared tearfully into her eyes. "Why did you have to go off on your own? I told you you can't do it alone!"
"I don't know why he doesn't have more faith in me. I always turn out fine in the end," she says to herself. She stands up straight and takes another gulp of her beverage, continuing to walk aimlessly down the street, turning at random points and crossing various streets until she finds herself at KaibaLand. The entrance consists of a large Blue Eyes White Dragon Statue in the middle with the name of the park overhead. She can partially see the silhouettes of some of the attractions ranging from a few rollercoasters, a ferris wheel and more.
"It's a shame he couldn't open this when he wanted to," Mana comments. She looks down at the black iron gates that are closed and span the width of the entrance. She follows the trail of iron bars until her eyes rest on the far right end where there appears to be some activity. One of the gates are partially opened and on the ground lies the broken chain and lock. She watches as one slim figure with long hair walks out toward his limo. She squints her eyes, watching as he interacts with one of his henchman.
"I should probably tell Kisara," Mana mutters, turning around, taking out her phone and preparing to walk away.
She hears a manly grunt coming from behind her and she slowly puts her phone back into her middle pocket. She can practically feel the stranger's eyes looking her up down, the only thing visible to him being her bare legs from wearing shorts.
"What's a cute little lady like you doing out here all by herself?" his low grainy voice asks.
"Oh you know, just minding my business. You should try it sometime," Mana replies and she begins to walk forward. He places a hand on her shoulder and she quickly whips around, dropping the bottle in her hand and it rolls to his feet. He is a tall muscular man with a bald head, wearing a tight black shirt, blue jeans and black shoes. His dark brown eyes are fixated on her and his mouth is in a grin.
"You're even cuter than I thought," he says, picking up her bottle.
"Yeah, well you're exactly what I pictured you to be," Mana replies with a blank expression. He moves closer to her and she groans inwardly. "Maybe I should be the one asking you questions. Like what are you doing hanging around a closed theme park?"
"Tell you what," he starts, balancing Mana's bottled beverage on one finger. "I'll forget you even caught me out here if you go out on a date with me."
Mana sighs and waves her hand, causing a huge amount of force to hit the man and he goes flying back. She looks over at a nearby clock tower and sucks in her teeth. She really should be getting back home. She turns back around and walks over to retrieve her drink out of the man's hands and then she walks away.
"I'm happily married," she says, opening up her bottle to take a sip. She smacks her lips and looks at the bottle questionably. "Ew…all of the bad aftertaste must be at the bottom." She tosses it in a nearby trashcan and continues walking. Her mind goes back to who the other person was at the park gate and what they were doing there. She puts the phone up to her ear, only to hang up in frustration when Kisara doesn't answer. As she continues walking, she starts to feel a bit sluggish. She stumbles a bit and holds onto a nearby building for balance.
Once again, she hears footsteps coming from behind her and she slightly turns her head, seeing the man from the park following her once more.
"Seriously…?" she whispers angrily and she begins to make a run for it. To her dismay, he begins to run after her as well. Typically running comes easy for her and she figures that she will be able to outrun a man his size, but as she continues down the sidewalk, she starts to feel even more sluggish. "What's wrong with me?"
Hearing the alarm of a car go off, Atem grunts and rolls over in bed. He places his pillow on top of his head, attempting to block out the noise, but to no avail. He slams the pillow to the side and sits up, sliding a hand down his face and growling with frustration.
"How are you even sleeping through that?" he asks aloud to no response. He waits a few more seconds before sighing and reluctantly looking over to see that Mana isn't there. He reaches over to the opposite side to grab his cellphone off the nightstand and he dials her number. It rings a few times and finally the other line picks up.
"Mana."
"Hey," she says in between breaths. "Got a little situation."
"What do you mean?" he asks and his eyes widen when she yelps loudly. "Mana, where are you?" He hops out of bed and quickly slips on some clothes.
She gets slammed to a wall, managing to still hold the phone up to her ear and she quickly ducks out of the way as the man tries to land a punch. He grasps his fist after hitting the brick wall and she scrambles away yet again. With each passing second, she finds herself feeling weaker. "I don't feel so good."
"Just tell me where you are."
She hangs up and brings up her messages, texting him her location. She uses the sleeve of her hoodie to wipe the sweat off her forehead and observes her surroundings, thinking of a way to lose him. Narrowing her eyes she stops and turns around to his surprise. A nearby trash can gives her an idea and she motions her hand at it, attempting to levitate it in the air and lunge it at him using her magical abilities.
Her hand glows briefly, then stops to her horror. He laughs and slowly approaches her. "That won't work this time."
"He must've put something in my drink," Mana grumbles angrily. She grasps the trash can with both hands, lifting it above her head. "But I still have my physical strength!" she yells, throwing the metal trash can at him and knocking him over. She chuckles weakly and tries to run off again. But the bald headed man uses the lid of the trash can and throws it at her feet, causing her to trip and fall to the ground.
"Darn him…" She attempts to get to her hands and knees, but feels him pulling her up by the crown of her head. "Let go!" she screams as he drags her to an alleyway.
"All you had to do was go on a date with me and all would've been forgiven," he tells her, slamming her against the wall. "Too bad you had to do things the hard way."
Mana grunts, head butting him and he cries out, clenching his face. She drops to the floor, holding her head. "Smooth. Real smooth," she grumbles while grimacing in pain.
He slowly stands to his feet, glaring down at her and clenching his fists. "You're gonna pay that!" He brings his leg back and slams it into her side. She can feel the air leaving her body in that one hard blow and she clenches her side, coughing a few times. Once again, he encloses his large hand around the top of her head and he brings her face to face with him.
"You weren't that cute anyway," he says and she grins.
"With a face like that, I don't think you're in a position to say anything about looks," she says slyly before gasping as he lands a punch in her stomach. She attempts to lift her hand to try one more attempt at a magical counterattack, but she just doesn't have any energy left in her at all. He brings his fist back and throws another punch, but instead his face is met with someone else's foot after a flying kick from Atem.
"Yay…" Mana says goofily, feeling more groggy as the moments go by and she falls forward to the ground.
The attacker holds his face and looks up, only to be met by Atem's angry glare. Before he can say another word, Atem draws back his fist and knocks him out cold. He looks over his shoulder, seeing Mana holding onto a nearby wall to stand up and she leans on it for dear life. "Whew…that was close." She hears footsteps approaching and she looks over to see Atem standing across from her with his arms folded. She slowly turns her head away, avoiding his serious gaze and she sighs.
"Wanna tell me what you were doing out there so late?" he asks standing in the middle of the bedroom while she sits under the covers on their bed.
"I was getting a snack," she replies, rubbing her eyes. "But then I kinda got pulled into some trouble and—"
"Kinda?" he repeats. "You were in deep trouble and who knows what would've happened had I not gotten to you in time!"
"I could've handled him myself had he not—"
"I honestly don't want to hear anymore," Atem says, turning his back to her.
"But there's something I need to tell you!" Mana exclaims, wanting to report what she saw back at KaibaLand.
"If it's anymore of your excuses, then I don't want to hear it, Mana. I'm tired," he says, turning back to face her. "I'm tired of you going out and constantly putting yourself in harms way. I don't understand your obsession with danger, but I don't want any parts of this lifestyle you continue to live!" he snaps, his eyes narrowed at her.
Mana's eyes widen and she places her fist up to her chest, feeling her heart pounding and her stomach doing flips. "What are you saying…?" she asks slowly, fearing his response.
"I need some time away…" he responds in a low tone and her heart feels like it is going to shatter into a million pieces. He turns around to avoid looking at her hurt expression and he heads to the door. "I'm going to stay at Yugi's for awhile."
"Atem…" Her eyes begin to water up and she quickly scrambles out of bed, running up to him with his back still turned to her. She wraps her arms tightly around him and she hides her face into his back. "Wait. Don't go," she whimpers and he sighs heavily. He slowly lifts his hands and places it on her wrists, gently releasing himself from her grasp before walking out of the room, closing the door behind him. He can hear her sobbing on the other side of the door and it makes his heart ache. A tear trickles down his cheek and he lowers his head, his bangs hiding his eyes.
This is the last thing he wants to do. But she has left him with no choice.

Kaiba stands in his office the next morning, typing away on his computer. He has been working very diligently to make sure there is an adequate amount of security at his amusement park and the rest of his properties. He wants to make sure the grand opening is perfect and that there will be no issues.
He looks over to a frame that sits on the side of his computer that contains a picture of him and Kisara. He sports his normal stoic expression while she beams into the camera. Things have been super hectic and he hasn't been able to spend much time with her. So he hopes that his little gesture this morning will suffice for now.
The bright sun beams through a tall glass window, adorned with light blue curtains that drape on the hard wood floor. A bird chirps on a nearby tree branch, stretching its wings to prepare for a brand new day. A light groan escapes Kisara's lips and she uses her arm to shield her face from the sun that shines directly on her. She yawns and lifts up slightly on her elbows, her hair draping over shoulders and straps of her short night gown that she wears to bed every night.
Not surprisingly, Seto isn't in bed with her. But in his place, is a tray of breakfast. Two pieces of toast, eggs, bacon and a tall glass of orange juice. A red rose sits in a glass vase and a white note with her name lays next to her food. She reaches for it and grabs the note, turning it over to read the other side. She smiles, reading the sweet words he has handwritten in cursive.
"Oh Seto…" she giggles.
The screen of her cellphone flashes, catching her attention and she picks it up. There are several notifications, including a missed call from Mana. Her eyes scroll over at the time she called and she raises an eyebrow. "Now why was she up so late?" she asks herself. Right when she is about to swipe to return her call, her phone begins to vibrate and Téa's name comes across the caller ID.
"Hey Téa!" she answers.
"Hey Kisara…"
Kisara tilts her head. Téa isn't sounding her normally cheerful self. "Um…everything okay?"
"Not exactly." She walks away from the living room where Yugi and Atem are so that she can talk more privately. "Atem came and stayed with us last night. I think something may be going on between him and Mana. I'm gonna be headed to her house shortly. Mind meeting me there?"
"Yeah, no problem," Kisara responds without hesitation. "I'll see you there." She taps the red button on her phone and sighs, looking out the mirror. "Oh Mana…what did you do…?"
