621 Prophecy

Just a few months ago Jonas Quinn began seeing creatures from another dimension. He was concerned then that he had suffered brain damage from exposure to Naquadria as did his former professors. Then he had a turn in Nirriti's genetic manipulation device. Now he was seeing visions. It was just flashes and he had no control over it.

Was it the exposure to Naquadria catching up to him? Was it his visit to Nirriti's secret lair? Was it the combination? What the hell was wrong with him? Was this new found ability of any use or was it a liability, misleading the people around him? In any case the headaches were killing him.

Jonas Quinn had a healthy view of his intellect. He had an amazing ability, by Tau'ri standards, to absorb information. He had mental focus as well as acuity. He was sure if he applied himself he could focus this precognitive ability so the information would not only be wider in scope but more specific.

O'Neill didn't believe it but he couldn't discount Jonas' visions either. They had seen crazier things. Carter, who Jonas saw hurt in one of his visions, was ordered to remain on base. She was annoyed and Jack couldn't blame her. So Jonas went to the infirmary, Carter futzed with some gizmos with Siler. And O'Neill, Teal'c and SG-15 returned to P4S-237 and wound up imprisoned.

Jonas' vision involving Major Carter was in a way true, she was injured but here on Earth at the SGC.

Doctor Fraiser diagnosed Jonas as having a brain tumor and advised having it removed immediately. Jonas feared it would cause him to lose this new ability that might be of value to the SGC. He could help save lives, he could be of value, make missions successful. If the tumor were removed would he be just ordinary again.

His condition continued to deteriorate but forestalled surgery for a brain tumor when another vision presaged an attack on the SGC. Jonas sought to control the vision, to gather more information to prevent this tragedy. He saw an ambush taking out the troops on the planet as he was wheeled away to surgery. The warning although heard by the enemy in turn alerted the airmen and saved them from disaster.

The returning soldiers were met on the ramp by General Hammond and Major Carter. O'Neill requested permission to return to the planet with SG-3 and SG-10 and was granted that request. He needed a trip to the infirmary, a shower and change of clothes and a chance to debrief the General while the other teams geared up.

On their way down the passage to the infirmary O'Neill asked Carter about the sling.

"This Jonas' fault?" He asked, he seemed annoyed.

"Don't blame him. He put himself in jeopardy to warn you about the ambush."

"Are you alright?" Jack asked in a softer tone, he didn't want to talk about Jonas. It was Sam he was concerned with.

"I'm fine."

Jack thumbed the strap on the sling.

"I should have been more careful, he did warn me." Sam said.

"Yeah, he said you'd get hurt but he didn't say where."

"I should have come with you."

"Oh Carter, we were hit with a stun grenade and wound up in jail. And you think the food was bad at the 'feast' you don't want to even think about the stuff in the prison." He looked around the infirmary. "Pretty crowded in here. What do you say I get a shower" he looked down at the clothes he had been in for the better part of a week "and meet you for lunch. I'm starving."

With a smile Sam replied "Yes Sir."
