Chapter 16
The Snowman
During the Curse
Morgan Green had not seen a winter like this one since… she couldn't remember how long. She sat at her kitchen table, looking out the window, sipping hot chocolate. Memories…strange childhood memories flooded into her mind. Were they real memories? Or were they memories made up from dreams? They weren't clear. But she remembered playing in snow every winter. There was always someone with her in those memories, though she was always a blur. All Morgan could remember was long blond hair, tied back into a braid. The more Morgan thought about those memories, the more it felt like there was a fog blocking her vision, refusing to move away. Refusing to let her see the truth.
Morgan tried not to dwell on those thoughts. They would only make her feel frustrated. She shrugged and decided to make the most of the snowy day.
She took out her cellphone and dialed her boyfriend's number.
"Hello?" He said.
"Hey babe," Morgan smiled at the sound of his voice. "Do you wanna build a snowman?"
He giggled, knowing his girlfriend wasn't kidding. "Sorry honey, I can't. Got a lot on my plate at work today."
"No worries." Morgan replied. After they said their goodbyes, Morgan bundled up an went outside. She played in the snow, made a few snow angels, and then went to work rolling snow until she got the perfect snowman.
"I'll call you…Olaf." Morgan said. "I love you Olaf." She giggled, giving the snowman a warm hug. Sometimes, snowmen made her lonely winters more bearable.
Story Brooke
The team continued their journey through the mountains. The sun was shining, but it was still cold. As they walked through a forest of willows, the ice had dripped, making the willows appear to be decorated in lights.
"Well, I was reminded of Cazadras." Pippin admitted. "But then we arrived here…"
"I never thought winter could be so beautiful." Anna said.
"I know! But it's so…white!" The group heard a distant voice drift through the trees. "Why not throw in a little color, like crimson, or green, a maybe a yellow… no! No! Yellow and snow…ugh! No go!"
Anna and Pippin turned to see a strange little creature had been walking behind them. It took the group a moment to realize it was a walking, talking snowman.
"Am I right?" The creature asked, turning to Anna. She screamed and kicked off the snowman's head. It landed in Pippin's arms.
"Hi!" The creature tried again, smiling at Pippin.
"You're creepy…" Pippin stated before tossing the head back to Anna.
"I don't want it!" Anna snapped, tossing it to Emma.
"It's just a head!" Emma said, tossing it to Ruby.
"Hey Frodo! Head's up!" Ruby shouted.
"Heads?! Really?!" Frodo asked, tossing it back to Pippin.
"Okay, we got off on the wrong foot." The creature said, as its' body walked around, attempting to get its' head back. Pippin tossed it to Anna, who noticed the body walking around.
"EW! EW! EW! The body!" Anna cringed, throwing the head at the body.
The creature stumbled and stood back up. Though it wasn't exactly human, its' head was clearly upside down.
"Whoa wait, what's going on? What am I looking at? Why are you hanging off the earth like a bat?" It asked.
"Uh, hang on, one second." Anna said, walking toward the creature and flipping his head back in its proper place.
"Oh!" He smiled at Anna. Now that he was put right, the group could tell this creature was a snowman. "Now I'm perfect!"
"Well, almost." Anna giggled, pulling a carrot out of her bag.
"It's like my whole world just turned upside down!" Olaf said, turning to Pippin. Anna missed and shoved the carrot into the back of Olaf's head. Only a small portion stuck out of the front of his face.
"Whoa! Head rush!" Olaf gasped.
"Oh! Too hard! Are you okay, Olaf?" Anna winced.
"Are you kidding me? I am wonderful!" Olaf replied. "I've always wanted a nose! It's so cute!" Olaf touched his new nose. "It's like a little baby unicorn!"
Anna pushed the nose out further, giving Olaf a full carrot-nose. Now he truly looked like a snowman.
"Now I love it even more!" Olaf gasped in excitement. "Now, let's start this thing over, hi, I'm Olaf, and I like warm hugs."
"Olaf?" Anna asked. She sat in thought for a moment while the snowman smiled at her. She searched her memory, and remembered playing outside with Elsa, ice skating, sledding, and building a snow man…
"Olaf!" Anna's eyes brightened. "Right! I'm Anna."
"Say, who that funky looking guy over there?" Olaf asked, looking towards Frodo and Pippin.
"That would be Frodo." Anna replied.
"Oh, and who's the Baggins?" Olaf asked.
"…Frodo…" Anna said uneasily.
"Oh, Frodo and Frodo! Makes things easier for me!" Olaf said.
"This is Emma, Ruby, and…Lacey." Anna continued.
"It's nice to meet all of you!" Olaf said.
"Olaf, did Elsa build you?" Anna asked.
"Yeah, why?" Olaf asked.
"Fascinating," Pippin said, taking one of Olaf's stick arms.
"Do you know where she is?" Anna asked again.
"Yeah, why?" Olaf replied.
"Do you think you could take us to her?" Anna continued.
"How does this work?" Pippin asked, bending Olaf's arm before getting smacked in the face with it.
"Stop it, Frodo!" Olaf said to Pippin. He grabbed his arm back and re-attached it to his body. "Yeah, why?"
"I'll tell you why," Frodo said, kneeling to Olaf's level. "We need to bring back summer."
"Really?" Olaf asked cheerfully. "Oh, I don't know why but I've always loved the idea of summer, and sun, and all things hot!"
"Really?" Pippin asked. "Seems to me like you don't have a lot of experience with heat."
"Nope!" Olaf replied. "But sometimes I like to close my eyes and imagine what happens when summer finally does come. Bees, plants…relaxing on the beach, getting tanned…"
"I'm gonna tell him." Pippin whispered.
"Don't you dare!" Frodo snapped, smacking Pippin's arm.
"Well, come on then! Let's go save summer!" Olaf cheered before taking off.
"Somebody's gotta tell him…" Pippin said, looking a little concerned.

Lacey, however, was fascinated with Olaf. She had never seen anything like it, and no one was questioning it… Maybe she had been seeing magic this whole time. Maybe she wasn't crazy… maybe…
Her head started to hurt again…it felt like something in her was trying to escape, something sweet, something childish…something good and familiar. Nathan, who also called himself Frodo, looked at her with worried eyes. This made her heart feel warm… He asked her if she was all right, and her heart began to flutter. She reassured him she was fine. But she was far from it.
For one thing, she was believing in magic…and it didn't feel like the first time she had. Another thing…she was beginning to wonder who she really was…Belle or Lacey? Maybe she was both… The last thing plaguing her mind was…was she falling in love with Nathan Bearer? He was so patient with her…and so kind to her. He treated her like a princess. It was as if she was at the top of his list of priorities. But she thought she loved Mr. Gold…she thought she liked the dark and mysterious type. Though, Nathan had his own mysteriousness to him… and everything about him… it just seemed so familiar- like someone she read about once and admired.
She shrugged. This was an adventure after all. Why worry? She decided she would let the pieces fall where they may.
Author's note: I forgot Han's cursed name that I gave him…or if I gave him one. Haha! One job, Jessie! Also, don't ask me how Olaf knows Frodo's last name, I don't even know. O_O
