Forgive me guys if my writing is too bland and the stories are too fast paced. Its just my style and the best I can come up with.
The day had arrived. The Worthington's made their way into the Reeves residence in a rather, fashionable way. A pearl-white limousine entered the residence, right infront of the main door. Angela was ordered to pick them up and lead them inside, though they knew the way in because it wasnt their first time here. But it was all part of a 'Formality'.
One by one the family members stepped out of the vehicle. First person to step out was a middle aged man, James Worthington, very close to age to Charles. Wearing a fancy tuxedo, he offered his hand to a woman, who was supposedly his wife, Marie. Then came out, Jacob, James's son. Standing about as tall as Ryan and having a thicker physique, he was actually quite attractive. He wore a ocean blue tuxedo with an unbuttoned coat and no tie. Next was his wife, Jody, A blonde, green eyed, short woman. And finally, thier daughter called Alyssa.
Angela upon seeing the family members, one by one, couldnt get over the fact that all were soo...good looking. But she knew. She knew that good looking rich creeps turn out to be real jerks and was expecting them to be oozing with rudeness. Stepping forward, bowing, Angela spoke politely.
"Good afternoon, Sir's and mistresses. The family is waiting for you inside. Im Angela. I offer you their salutations."
Looking up, everyone smiled, nodded and made their way in.
'Wow! They aren't so bad afterall! Why was Mistress Brenda so stressed?!'
Thought Angela, surprised by the polite nature of the guests.
"So far so good." remarked the maid who was last to enter the residence. Why wasnt she nervous? Why wasnt she feeling scared?
The Worthingtons made their way to the guest room where, Charles, Brenda and Ryan were expecting them. After exchanging of salutations, the families sat down and, as usual, like any other family union, discussed political business. Each member participating in the senseless argument and sharing their views, all except for Ryan who just sat there, spectating. Angela didnt enter the room but stood outside after serving water. Hearing the family talks, she felt nauseous. It was soo...stupid. She stood at an angle where she and Ryan can look at each other clearly. Ryan didnt glance at her, not even once but on the other hand, Angela kept on glancing for some reason. After last nights burst-out incident, she felt slight regret but held on to the same motivation.
A few minutes passed and Brenda came out of the room, calling out to Angela to follow her.
"Yes, Mistres Brenda? Is everything allright?"
"Nooo!" Brenda suddenly replied, stratling Angela.
Angela kept on looking at her face hoping to get the answer.
"Im sorry. I just...There is no subtle way to say this but..Jéan isn't here. He went to his mothers this morning. There is no chef...We dont know anyone else who can cook except you."
'Uhh, WHAT?!''
"I...I-i dont understand"
Sighing hard "You will have to cook, Angela."
"B-B-B-ut I-I-I cant. I--"
"Yes, you can and you will."
Angela's head was bursting by this sudden news. Thoughts popped up, demotivating her and making her even more confused.
"Listen" Brenda said "You can do this. Please. You can. For us." Brenda almost begged. The look of nervousness could also be seen in her eyes.
'Brenda is ...scared?'
Noticing the concern, Angela realised it was her time to show why she was working there. She didnt feel a slight bit of courage but still to give her mistress hope, she smiled a fake smile. Brenda took it as a yes and left the kitchen leaving the maid shaken to her very core. Breathing harder and harder her heart wasnt slowing down. This was scary for her. She didn't even know what to make and what to do first.
Hearing the pants and sighs, Ryan who was walking nearby entered the kitchen to see his 'beloved' scared. Ryan approached.
"Hey...are you okay?"
Angela turned around to see Ryan looking at her with concern. The energy in her body was utilised in shaking and with the tiny bit of power left, she nodded slowly.
"Hey, what happened?" Ryan came closer.
Angela slowly looked at him and answered after a few seconds. "J-J-JÉAN isnt here"
Ryan realised what was going on by that simple sentence.
"Hey, listen to me. You can do this. Just cook and dont look back."
"No! I cant. Its soo confusing. Like what am I supposed to do?"
"Angela"
"What if I screw up the dish? What if they dont like it? What if I ruin your families reputation?"
"Angela"
"What will I cook? What will they do if they hate my cooking? What should--"
"Angela!" Ryan smacked the table and stared into her eyes with determination.
"You can do this. If you are that concerned about our reputation then why are you scared? Souldn't that drive you? Shouldn't that motivate you? Stop this nonsense and believe in yourself. No matter what you cook they will love it, I know it. Dont be scared. Dont be nervous, cuz that wont help you."
Angela after hearing Ryan felt a bit better and calmed down a bit. Looking down, she asked a question.
"What should I cook?"
"Surprise them." Ryan said smiling and started to exit the kitchen.
"T-Thanks, Sir Ryan." Angela said looking at him.
Ryan left smiling.
Apparently, both had forgotten last nights burst out and were focusing on the mission at hand. Angela, wasnt letting go of her anger toward Ryan for coming in so close to her, for harassing her almost. But she accepted what Ryan did for her. And thought to apologise once the guests are away.
With a new found courage, Angela had the best idea to surpise the Worthington's. She had about 3 hours which was plenty of time to prepare, appitser, meal and desert for the bunch.
For an appitser, she was preparing an eastern classic yogurt mixed with cumin and mint leaves. For a meal, it was going to be a sweet and sour chicken with topped lentils.
Finally, for desert, a blueberry pie. Everything was set and she was engrossed in it.
The plates were on the table and, according to culture, the grub will be served as soon as the guests settle. Brenda heard faint noises of someone slowly lifting and placing continuously. Maybe a sign from Angela?
"Its 2 o'clock already? Time for some therapy." Brenda gestured everyone to gather around the family dining table.
Ryan kept his eyes on Angela, who was standing near it with a faint smile.
The guests settled and it was time for them to truly be pleased by the Reeves family service. Infront of them was the creamy yoghurt in a small smoothie glass.
James nearly scoffed at the sight of the appitser, preparing stinging sarcasm in his mind, should it taste average. But as soon as thet took the first bite, sweet moan were released by the Worthingtons, especially James. A look of delight spread across their face as they munched on the rest of the appitser. Surprising the Reeves family, who also tasted the yoghurt and were truly amazed by its simplicity and flavour.
"Plain yogurt whipped with cream, cumin and mint. Its quite impressive." Marie remarked enjoying every bite of it.
"I second that." Jody spoke.
Both were unaware...in fact almost everyone was unaware that this was prepared by a single maid not a fancy chef.
Angela smiled upon the hearing the compliments.
Brenda gave a thumbs up to her.
"I wish I could stuff more but Im waiting for the main meal." James expressed his thoughts.
"Yes." Angela stepped forward to open the top of every plate near the guests and the Reeves family to show her work of art.
A look of curiosity filled the minds of the business men as to see what was infront of them. It looked peculiar, serving beans and corn with chicken, which were cut in small symmetrical pieces for everyone. Nobody complained because they thought they same for the yoghurt and were expecting to be pleased.
A small bite from the chicken and corn burst fireworks in their stomach as their expression was filled with happiness. Like how a child wakes up from his sleep to see his mother right near him. Again, compliments were escaping the mouths of everyone, even Brenda who was shocked to see this was done by her maid.
"Mmm. I must say this is quite delicious. I wish I could buy your chef from you, Charles." James grinned.
"Yeah, can we make a double deal here?" Jacob joked.
"You can speak to the chef directly because shes standing right behind you." Brenda said smiling at Angela.
'What? You dont have to tell them...' Angela thought.
With that remark, everyone..even Charles bombshelled. Angela, looked at them and glanced at Brenda who gave a thumbs up and a nod, making her feel accepted and special. Feeling acknowledged she nodded to the guests.
"Do this everyday and you might see me here all the time." James laughed.
"You're an excellent cook. Angela, was it?" Marie spoke.
"Yes, yes. Angela Doss."
"You got yourself a whole cavalry here, Brenda." Jody said looking at her.
Brenda, Charles looked at each other in happiness. The guests were pleased and fillied with joy, all because of Angela. Her cooking was their messiah now. These services might end up their deal to fruition.
Ryan felt happiness and pride as if it was him that made all this.
Apparently, noone was interested in talking bussiness, even Charles. Everyone was concerned about the happy meal and were dying to taste the desert.
Angela went to the kitchen, as soon as she saw that everyone was finished, to bring the blueberry pie. Holding multiple plates in a tray, she slowly approached the table to prevent the embarrassing ordeal of limping over. Sighing slowly, she placed the plates infront of everyone and returned back to her spot.
At this point, it wasnt even a surprise because their expectation was met. The pie was lovely. Every bite felt like a tsunami of flavour. Simple yet elegant.
Brenda's focus then went on to the granddaughter. She smiled at her cuteness and remarked it with honesty.
"Wow, your kid is so lovely, Jacob."
"Hehe. We wanted to be grandparents and were blessed with such a beauty." James said looking cutely at Alyssa who smiled in shyness.
"Yeah. I, sometimes ask Ryan to fulfill our wish but every engagement breaks before we could even tell him." Charles said looking at his son.
Everyone looked at Ryan.
"Tough break, huh, Ryan?" Jake said.
"Is adoption an option, Dad?" Ryan joked. Everyone chuckle except Charles.
'If only she knew'
During the talks the granddaughter, Alyssa, spilled a small piece of pie on her clothe.
"Oh, no!" Alyssa spoke in her squeaky voice.
"Ohhhhh. Lemme clean that up." Jody stopped her munching to help her daughter out.
"Is there a rest room near? Little Alyssa needs cleaning up." Jacob smiled to his daughter.
"Ohh wait, wait. I'll go take her to the room and clean her up, if you dont mind." Angela approached quickly, making Jody sit down in act of kindness.
"How kind of you. Thank you so much." Jody smiled.
"Appreciate it." Nodded Jacob.
"This is awkward, I think." Alyssa said in sadness.
"Oh, no, honey, its fine. Tell you what, this happens to Master Ryan all the time, and he is confused on why nobody wants to be his wife." Angela smiled taking Alyssa slowly away.
That made everyone burst in laughter even Ryan who looked down in embarrassment. Alyssa also laughed and looked happily at the kind maid.
This also made the Worthington's surprised of how lively the family was eversince the maid arrived because she wasnt here last time they came. Charles admired Angela. Her cooking, politeness, devotion and humour may be the key to the business deal he wants to make so bad. But it wasnt about the deal, it was about Angela, a good person with such devotion. He started to respect her even more and decided to make her stay with the family forever. Not the service but her very presence was essential now.
Angela took Alyssa to the bathroom and washed her cloth delicately, preventing any splashes.
"Thank you, miss. Im Sorry for my trouble."
"No, not at all. And call me Angela." Angela smiled
Alyssa smiled and looked deeply at the maid's face.
"Wow, youre so pretty." Alyssa said in astonishment.
Angela blushed until she heard her second remark.
"At first, I thought you were big brother Ryan's girlfriend."
"What?! No, No its not like that..." Angela felt her heart throb and blood rush to her cheeks.
'Girlfriend? What?! No..noo'
Alyssa looked confused, noticing the red hue on her cheek.
Angela felt nervous for abit until she calmed herself and changed the topic.
"Sooo...do you want more pie?"
"No. But Can you show me around? I want to see more of this house. Can we? , please, please." Alyssa begged.
'She's so cute!'
"Okay, okay. But first you need to take permission."
"Okay!" Alyssa ran to the table.
"Hey, wait!"
Jacob said yes to Angela and the pair were out of the house near the swimming pool. It was a good opportunity to talk about the deal, alone with the Reeves family.
Angela first showed Alyssa the pool and the the beautiful garden enveloping the entire residence. Alyssa conversed with Angela telling her all about herself.
"It isnt that cool being rich and all. My friends only talk about my possessions."
"Well, then you need to find people who arent with you because of what you own." Angela said getting reminded of her past as well.
"Youre right. But tell me, how are you working here? Shouldn't you be in college like Big bro was?" Alyssa asked innocently.
Angela stopped, smiled and spoke "There are somethings not meant for everyone. I didnt fit so I stepped out."
"But, why? Didnt you like it?"
"No, honey. Its because I found what I was looking for. You cant stay where you know you dont belong ."
Alyssa didnt know what she was saying but hugged her suddenly.
"I wish you could be with me forever. Youre such a good person. Can we be friends?"
Angela's mouth gapped but then curved into a smile as she laughed and hugged the girl back.
"Yess! Why not?"
It seemed the day was going perfect for Angela.
The Worthington's left with excitement bidding a good goodbye. As soon as they left, Brenda and Charles jumped in joy and cheered for a few moments.
Angela chuckled realizing the deal was done and they got what they wanted. Brenda tightly hugged Angela making her squeal n pain.
"Thank you, thank you, thank you! Youre the best, Angela." Brenda looked at the maid with sparkly eyes.
Angela was still surprised by her behaviour but she didnt complain.
"Yes! Youre the best decision I ever made. Now the geeks are gone, this calls for a celebration." Brenda rushed to take out some champagne, leaving Charles and Angela alone.
"Hey, kiddo. The deal is made and youre responsible for it."
"But...how? I dont get it."
"In bussiness its the service that determine the outcome. You did a wonderful job, kiddo." Charles smiled "It is to let you know that I am truly grateful for your service."
Patting her head Charles continued "If you ever need anything, anything at all. Just holler at me. Im always here for you. Matter of fact, there is a secretary position open in my company, would you like to take it? Its got one hell of a pay" Charles raised one brow.
Angela was caught off guard with this one. This was different. A very different situation. It was a bit quick but Angela knew what she had to do.
"Sir Charles. Thank you so much for your offer but I respectfully decline. Its not that I had to work for you, its because I want to work for you. I love my duties and my job. There is nothing lacking and Im happy here as it is."
Charles smiled and brushed her hair making her giggle.
'She's something, alright.'
Humming and slowly swaying, the couple enjoyed the newborn feeling of excitation and achievement. Glass filled with champagne in one hand while the other grabbing their partner. Angela smiled upon seeing the view and started to clean up the plates. Ryan was standing near the diner table, eyes focused on Angela and her happiness. He held the same creepy grin.
'It's now or never, Ryan. Go, now!'
What was he thinking? What was he contemplating?
Carefully placing the plates on the kitchen cupboards, she heard a voice which felt more like a whisper.
"Thanks, hero."
Ryan.
Angela turned slightly to see who the person was from the corner of her eye. Angela still was upset and tired of Ryan and she didnt even want to look at him but it was a marvellous day for the whole family. No way, she would ruin it. So for the sake of the joyful vibe, she thought to let bygones be bygones for only tonight. And also to applogize for yesterday. Angela smirked a bit and nodded, not facing the young master.
"Never knew your talents would come so handy. No wonder, the whole building loves you."
"It doesnt take a penny to embrace politeness, you know." Angela replied speaking her heart.
"You impressed me, too. But that was not unexpected." Ryan started to step forward with Angela finished in decorating the cupboards and turning around.
"I hope you're adapted to me now , yeah?" Ryan came closer.
"Wha--?" Angela stopped as she turned fully to see Ryans face upclose.
Immediately, she tumbled back but her hips touched the marble platform. Her body was held by it.
'What the hell?! Why is he coming soo close? Ughhhh why do i even bother?!
"Why are you coming so close? What do you want?" Angela was flabbergasted. Her heart beated fast and blood rushed in an instant.
Ryan jerked his head forward and slowly whispered in his dry voice "You still don't get it. Its you that I want."
Coming forward and forward and...
CUP
Ryan placed his lips on Angela's pink lips. As soon as their lips touched Angela felt her whole body heat up, with nervousness taking over. Her eyes were open in shock and were widened even more when she felt Ryan lunging on her lips but gently.
Her mind was going blank, her voice wasnt coming out and her whole body was shaking. Ryan slowly placed his hands on her sides and pulled her forward abit whilst engrossed in tasting her lips. All of this was happening quick as only 15 seconds passed but it felt like an eternity for the maid.
Angela lifted her hands placed it on Ryan's shoulders and with all the strength she can muster, she pushed Ryan back two steps. Breathing hard with a shocked expression, she eyeballed him.
Splash!
Angela slapped Ryan as hard as she could.
Ryan grabbed his left cheek and looked in the other direction dismayed by what had happened before slowly turning his head to face her.
As soon as he turned, he saw tears dripping from Angela's eyes and cheeks. Her cheeks moist in an instant, her nose completely ruddy, her mouth stuttering to breath and her face surging with agony.
Ryan was left speechless by just her look.
"WHO THE FUCK DO YOU THINK YOU ARE? HUH? A rich asshole who can have anything in the world? A rich guy who will do whatever he wants to whomever he wants? WHO THE HELL GAVE YOU THE RIGHT TO TOUCH ME? It wasnt enough that you came close to me, huh? You wanted more. I TOLD YOU MANY TIMES TO STAY AWAY FROM ME AND STOP...DOING...THAT TO ME? BUT YOU DIDNT LISTEN. FUCKIN DEAF OR SOMETHING?! And here I thought Id applogize for yesterday and thank you fir today. Just because you own the house, does that mean you own me, too? Just because I serve you, means you can do whatever you please? I'm a damn maid here, Im here for my service not because Im your fucking toy whom you can do funny things with. I'M MY OWN PERSON. WHO GAVE YOU THE RIGHT TO TOUCH ME ?! DONT YOU HAVE ANY SHAME?! GOING AROUND, TOUCHING ANY GIRL YOU MEET? THATS WHO YOU ARE, HUH? Thats what you do? Go and touch random girls? Why? Because you feel like it?...Fucking nuisance...Why?" Angela's voice broke down and her sobbing continued with more agony.
She looked down and just couldnt hold them anymore. She was truly hurt. Heart was aching and her brain was asleep. It was her right to act this way because who can withstand such a thing? When you know youre a nuisance and still you go around to annoy them and even kiss them? That is just wrong. Ryan was, obviously, in love but that doesnt give him the right to touch her. Thats just a sad excuse for an unexplainable situation.
Ryan stood in his position, hearing each and every thing from Angela and processing each word. Everything she said was correct and it sting his heart but what he couldn't bear, was to see , Angela. Crying. Her innocent naive voice who just wanted The guy to stay away from her. But for his selfish reasons he didnt listen to her. Ryan started to feel that he was evil who did such a wrong thing. He annoyed, irritated and now touched her. He only listened to himself and that hurt someone, how will he ever live with this pain now?
The crying voice and the burst out screams were booming and could be heard in the distance. Brenda briskly entered the kitchen to see what the commotion was about only to see Angela weeping.
"What the hell is--Oh, Angela baby, You okay? Ohh, Baby whats wrong?" Brenda quickly approached and placed her hands on Angela and tried to console her.
No reply, only a hug from Angela. Angela wrapped her arms around Brenda and continued her sobbing.
Brenda felt sad, her voice was so aching. She looked at Ryan who looked down in guilt. She got a gist of what was happening.
"Ryan, what the hell?!" Brenda growled.
"What the fu--" Charles entered the kitchen to see Brenda embracing the young maid.
"Oh, God. What happened? Hey, kiddo. You okay?" Charles came forward, moving his hand on Angela's head. "Angela, kiddo, what happened to you? come on, tell me."
Charles got no answer but there was an elephant in the room. Charles looked back to see Ryan and he realised what happened.
"Brenda, take her to the guest room." he said as he starred in disgust at Ryan. "Come in 5 minutes." Charles growled and left.
Angela's crying slowed down and she started to speak normally but stuttered here and there, telling them what had happened. She didnt want to deal with it alone, she was tired so she told them everything that happened in the kitchen and the past days. Brenda and Charles felt guilt, sorrow and disappointment.
Ryan entered the room.
Brenda consoled Angela who was still slowly crying and kept on embracing her head.
Splash!
A painful smack by Charles to Ryan. Charles was filled with rage and anger.
"Is this a goddamn joke to you?! Tell me, are you serious for even a second, in your stupid, humour filled life?! Is this funny? Tell me, son, is this funny? LOOK AT HER! You like that look of hurt on someone's face. Are you a damn rapist, assaulting anyone in your vicinity. Are you even ashamed? Thats a person right there whom you have assaulted. That person works day and night for us and for his father. That girl is a struggling person. Is this how we do things? She's our maid! How the fuck could you do that to her, son?! Its not because she's a maid, its because shes a person with the will of freedom. You dont go around, touching them when they dont like it. Tell me something, you touch Carrie Ann, my assistant too? Shes cute, too. She works hard, so you must've did the same. YOURE SISTER ALSO WORKS! ARE YOU GONNA DO THAT TO HER TOO?! She is someone's daughter, someone's sister. How the hell am I gonna explain this all to Bernard? She is our family, our family, you idiot! What is wrong with you? What Would you do if your sister gets treated the same way?"
Charles took a deep breath and continued his staring.
Ryan kept on looking down.
'What was I doing? What have I done?'
"Get out of my sight. Right now."
Ryan wanted to beg for forgiveness but he knew his father and Angela would get angered even more so he left without looking back, getting swallowed by guilt.
Charles slowly turned around, breathed hard and as genuinely as possible spoke "I...im so sorry, Angela. That was so abhorrent of him. He wont ever come close to you, I promise. Please, forgive him for me."
"Im sorry, I thought I could deal with it on my own but..." Angela sniffed.
"Oh, no honey. Dont say that. You did good, by telling us. Youre a part of this family too, dont ever hide it." Brenda consoled.
"Thank you, mistress" Hugging Brenda who hugged back.
"I think, its time for me to sleep" Angela stood up, thanked them once again and headed for her room. Before she entered, she turned around "Don't worry, master. I wont tell Dad anything." smiled weakly and entered her room.
Brenda and Charles were still feeling down. That was abit helpful but they were just saddened to see her like this.
What happens now?
