"It's okay, it's okay. There is nothing to worry about. Mistress Brenda just teased you. And don't forget, you've just forgiven Ryan. Its not like you like him or anything." Angela looked at her reflection with unease as she wore her uniform.
Angela had been feeling nervous, eversince Brenda said 'Angela Reeves'. To her, it felt like she was caught doing something wrong or had done something wrong. Why? Even if Brenda knew that Angela had private moments with Ryan, why was she scared to tell her? Why was she against in letting her know? It was simple. She had screamed at Ryan and complaint about his so called assault. Not only that, she slapped Ryan and so did his father, Charles. She hated Ryan, loathed him and his nature, but now, all of a sudden, she feels alive near Ryan? It felt wrong. How can she convince the fact that she acted like that and now is cool with Ryan. Ryan was slapped by his father. An adult, getting a childs treatment. How would she face Brenda, who was also there in the crime scene? How will she explain? That was something that kept on lingering in her mind.
Clang
Angela turned around to see who it was.
There he was. The person she kept on thinking about. Mister Ryan Reeves.
"Hey, Angela." Ryan closed the door and said smilingly.
Angela, upon seeing Ryan, felt in ease. Like all the thoughts vanished and her mind was relaxed. Well, that was quick.
"Hey...Ryan. Good morning." Angela replied with a smile.
"Sorry, I couldn't check up on you last night. I was late and tired. Went straight to bed as I returned."
"Yeah, I know." Angela looked down for a second.
Ryan noticed it. Stepping forward, he asked politely "You okay? Look pretty down. Is everything alright?"
'Nooo. There is definately something up. But how do I tell him?'
Angela thought for a second but knew that it was better to not let Ryan know. She didn't want to disturb him.
"Nothing, it's nothing. Everything is alright." Angela smiled and nodded.
Ryan took her word for it. She didnt seem sure but it wasn't the time to keep on asking the same question.
"I was wondering." Ryan looked into her eyes.
"The way I approached you, it was too cheesy. Certainly, didnt got the reaction I was expecting." Ryan scoffed. "It was inappropriate, I admit and I want to make amends."
Angela cocked her head, she didnt understand what Ryan was asking.
"I'd like to restart my approach. Ahem. Angela, will you go out with me? Im free for the day, I want to take you out. On a date." Ryan raised his brows.
Angela could only stare at him. Disbelieving what she heard from the handsome feller. But she heard right. Her mouth curved into a smile.
Her laughter was escaping but she managed to hold it. Angela nodded aggressively and then giggled.
Those giggles. They made Ryan's heart feel warmth, it felt satisfying to hear it.
They stared down at each other until Angela opened her mouth.
"But, I have work to do. How would I manage?"
"Its alright. Do you want me to ask mom? I can do that for you."
"No! No, no. I'll ask myself. Dont worry." Angela stopped Ryan as she didnt want his mother to know about all of this.
"Things have changed, Angela. Mom probably has forgotten already, you don't have to worry."
"No, Ryan. I can do it. Please don't worry."
Ryan looked surprised by her courage.
"Why don't you get ready. Pick me up at my place in an hour, okay?" Angela nodded as she asked.
Ryan moved his hand, slowly grabbing Angela's hand which seemed to twitch by the mere touch of Ryan. He slowly brought it closer and kissed it before whispering in his manly voice "Thanks, beautiful."
Angela was lost in her thoughts. Her mind was filled by the view and voice of Ryan. "Thanks" that whisper fluttered her heart. She blushed as she pulled her hand back and gestured him to get out.
Ryan responded by exiting her room without breaking eye contact.
It was 8 o'clock. Breakfast was awaiting the owners of the residence, while Angela waited patiently and kept on memorising what she had to say.
Brenda arrived.
Noticing Angela looking shyer than usual, Brenda spoke.
"Good morning. You're feeling shy as ever. Saw "him" again." Brenda smiled mischievously.
"Oh, Good morning, Mistress." Angela looked up suddenly in surprise.
Brenda sat on her seat. A few moments passed and Angela still stood by her, silent as the night.
"Hmm?" Brenda hummed, looking at her.
'Just say it. There's not much time.'
"Umm..." Angela spoke to retain Brenda's attention.
Brenda looked up, with a strawberry stuck between her lips.
"I..uh, I...was wondering...Can I take the rest of the day off?" Angela said quickly in one breath.
Brenda swallowed and raised her brows for a second and, then smiled.
"Meeting someone? Someone special?"
'Dont be nervous, be honest.'
"Y-yeah. Umm...it's sort of...a meeting. I was wondering if I could make this request and ...go out for just one day?" Angela slowly said with fear in her tone.
Brenda took another strawberry and took a bite, whilst maintaining eye contact.
The look she had was normal but to Angela it felt like she was saying "no".
"Dont ever ask permission, this is your home, too. Go get him, tiger!" Brenda smiled.
"W-what?! R-really?! I mean, Thank you so much, Mistress. But how did you--"
"You're a hundred years too young to fool me, darling. I know its a date, hence the excitement in your eyes." Brenda pointed at her eyes.
'She is good! So clever.'
"Umm, Thank you, again. I believe I must go." Angela turned around and started to walk but was stopped by Brenda.
"Need some help in dressing? I have a better taste in fashion for such occasions."
"Oh, no, thank you. I think I got this one." Angela smirked confidently.
Brenda replied by scoffing and gesturing her to scadaddle.
Angela quickly walked to her apartment and took a shower after deciding what to wear.
Ryan clumped his way downstairs.
Brenda had finished her breakfast and was waiting for Charles to get ready. Her mind focused on the brisk sounds of walking. Within moments, she saw Ryan passing by.
'As expected.'
"Don't attack her like last time, Ryan. Be gentle." Brenda shouted.
Ryan heard it. He stopped and then continued his way to his car, but with a smile. Apparently, he knew his mother would find out, thats why he was neither surprised nor scared.
Ryan reached the apartment. He knew where she lived because many times Ryan dropped Bernard right outside his door. But never once did he see Angela.
"Okay, Ryan. Dont be awkward, just speak your mind." Ryan spoke to himself, providing reassurance.
Knock-Knock
Angela opened the door to see her prince charming.
What she saw right before her eyes surprised her. Something beyound her expectation.
Ryan wore a white plain thin T-Shirt with a light red hoodie on top. Blue jeans and classic sneakers embedded on his feets. His hair was set in its usual manner but a little slided to the left.
'Wow! He looks good!'
But the true expression of awe was on Ryan's face. His eyes were so widened that it seemed like they'd pop off at any second. The view infront of him was the causality.
Angela...her dressing was really well.
The young beautiful maid wore a thick, buttoned, black shirt with the top most button left open. A thin, cream colored outerwear which had no button or zip. Black jeans and black loffer-like shoes.
"Whao...You look amazing." Ryan said unconsciously.
'Where did she learn to dress like that?! She looks so perfect!'
Angela smiled and replied "Thanks...You look pretty good yourself. " But no eye contact.
"So...Shall we?" Ryan gestured.
Angela replied by nodding.
As they sat on the car, it was time to decide where they had to go because Angela didnt get out much so it'd be better for Ryan to take the lead.
"I know its early but spending rest of the day together might be refreshing." Ryan said as he started his car.
"I know, Thank you."
Ryan drove the car to the well known fun station. During the drive there were no talks as Angela kept on admiring and staring at the view which Ryan didnt want to interrupt.
They reached the destination.
"Huh? Where are we, Ryan?" Angela was confused. Isnt date like eating somewhere first.
"Well, I just thought, its too early to eat so why not have some fun. Its great, trust me." Ryan expressed enthusiastically.
'Funstation? Lets see.'
Angela took Ryan's word for it and entered the rather enormous place.
It was around 10:30 and yet it was surging with all kinds of people. Children waiting in line to play the VR, shopowners arguing with youngsters about the prizes, parents chasing their children and the loud music. It all felt wild yet so normal, although, this was Angela's first time.
"Hey! Follow me." Ryan shouted to cause Angela to hear him. The music was so loud it felt like Ryan was whispering.
Angela held her ears and followed. Just at the central left of the room was a bowling alley and a baseball simulator.
As Angela entered she was confused. Like, what?
"Bowling? Baseball? Ive never done this before." Angela said.
"I know but its really fun. Come on, you'll love it." Ryan ran to the ticket booth but noone present to buy tickets
Angela slowly followed.
"Hey, wait!"
Ryan bought tickets for him and Angela and initiated the game. Ryan taught Angela how to bowl. It took a couple of attempts but Angela understood it.
"Okay, Angela. Just look at the centre, focus and then slide the ball."
Angela focused on the pins, took a deep breath, remembered Ryan's instructions and then threw the ball.
Smack!
The ball hit the centre and knocked each and every pin.
"I did it? I did it!" Angela shouted in excitement.
Ryan's face said it all. Even he wasnt expecting this to occur.
Angela turned around smilingly to Ryan and noticed his shock, making her chuckle.
'He looks so cute.'
"Youre on. Wanna compete?" Ryan said suddenly, as if his honor was on the line.
Angela didnt expect it but she smelled jealousy in the air. She wouldn't back down from a challenge, she accepted.
Many rounds passed and they kept going at it. Finally, Ryan won by a pin score of 40 to Angela's 36.
Ryan kept on raising his brows at Angela, mocking her, attempting to anger her.
Angela looked elsewhere. For the first time, Angela was feeling anger at a loss.
'He's enjoying it. So annoying, sometimes.'
Ryan took a deep breathe and said "Hey, lets try this one."
Angela looked at where he was pointing : baseball court.
"Baseball? I only seen it in T.V. Its hard, isnt it?" Angela concluded.
"Every game is hard when its your first time. Come on, its better than bowling."
Ryan bought the tickets, and again gave a short tutorial to Angela.
"Listen, the ball is going to be launched by that machine. What you have to do is hit it on any of the 3 targets above. You win a different price if you strike a distinct target.
As the ball is coming, square your feets, take a deep breathe and..."
Sup
Smack
Ryan striked the ball and hit the lower 3rd target.
"See! Like that. Come on, you try."
"But--."
"Its just a game, you can do it. Try a little."
Angela didnt argue. She looked at the bat and Ryan and then accepted it.
The counter started. In 3 seconds the ball was gonna launch. Angela tightly held the club and waited for the ball to arrive.
Sup
Missed.
'Huh?'
"Its alright, try again. 2 strikes left." Ryan assurred.
3 seconds. 2 seconds. 1 second.
Sup
Missed.
"What? How?" Angela got tensed.
"Hey, dont get nervous. Calm. Calm."
Angela looked at Ryan, then at the machine.
Took a deep breath and squared her feet.
'Calm, calm, calm.'
Sup
Smack
Ting Ting Ting
Angela hit the 1st, highest target that caused the bulbs to light and a ringing sound came.
"Yahooo! I did it!" Angela continuously whooped, jumped and giggled in joy.
Ryan kept on staring the celebrant female. He felt numb for a second, as if he was paralysed. It was that laugh, that giggle that made Ryan feel so spaced out. His heart was beating fast, face red as a tomato, and mouth wide open. Her smile, that damned smile was the causality. Ryan felt this emotion for the very first time, thats why it was overwhelming him so much. The longer he stared, the stronger the feeling got. Angela looked truly beautiful as she was smiling and giggling genuinely. Slowly, Ryan placed his hand on his heart and felt the strong beats.
'Why am I...feeling this feeling? What is this that Im feeling?'
The giggles kept on lingering in his mind and didnt show any sign of stopping. The apparent joy on this girls face was enough to overwhelm Ryan. He didnt want it to stop, he was begging for her to continue all day.
Seeing her like this for the very first time in his life truly was worth it. Something so mythical, so magical, so magestic, it felt like it was ripped from a fantasy but perfected beyond belief.
'Perfection.'
Angela turned around to see Ryan holding a genuine smile and thumbs up. It stopped her movement and made her blush. Smiling she picked up the price card from the socket of the machine.
"Guess I beat you on this one." Angela remarked as she approached Ryan.
Ryan grinned, replying "Clearly, underestimated you. Wanna go play other games?"
Angela upon hearing that, nodded diligently like a kid who was offered another free bowl of ice cream.
Ryan and Angela explored the whole station and played almost every game until 2 o'clock when it was time for lunch.
The couple played, ping pong, bumper cars, basket ball, VR games and stack the pyramid which Angela won. The room was filled with their laughter and smiles. Angela truly enjoyed all these games which left her shocked because she never thought she'd enjoy this much here. Ryan enjoyed more with Angela than with with his friends. A good time for both of them indeed.
Time had flied. It was around 2 already and the couple ventured out to satisfy their bellies.
Ryan drove the car to a nearby cafe -- a diner, to be exact. It was a normal dinner, filled with sizzling noises, continuous grumpy grunts from the owner chef and workers complaining about the very thing they ruin their sleep for.
Angela sat across Ryan, holding the same grin of joy, eversince, leaving the fun station.
"Dont even have to ask but I guess you had a lot of fun there."
The excitement could barely be controlled by Angela. Her true intention was to scream in hype and let all this joy out. It was very difficult for her but she maintained her cool by constantly reminding herself that it wasnt her home and Ryan was with her...she didnt want him to think of her as a creep.
Angela nodded continuously.
"The only time I had this much fun was when I first went to the Sinn Park with my parents. The rides, the candies, the competitions were so fun, I begged my parents to leave me there for the rest of my life." Angela finished by giggling.
Ryan stared and stared at his date, the smile, the expression and the googly eyes were like a magnet, they were unbelievably attractive. Ryan enjoyed this moment while also paying attention to the blabber of Angela.
Angela stopped eventually, realising she was talking too much. Feeling shy, she looked down and apologized.
Ryan only scoffed at her reaction, but she didnt took it the wrong way.
"Umm, so..Where are we?" Angela asked, jerking her head from left to right.
"This...is the best diner you'll ever be to. Its not too restaurant-y but the feel of the casual food here is elevated...alot. You'll know what I'm talking about."
"Can I take your order?" Came a voice of an old woman.
"Ah, just give her a second." Ryan realised he hadn't given time to Angela to order.
The waitress kindly waited at the side, taking orders of others while Angela's eyes scanned the menu.
After a few moments, Angela decided her order.
"For me, a beef grilled steak, with the chimichurri sauce and mash potatoes. Also a coke." Ryan spoke as if he didnt even want to eat something else.
"For me, umm..a chicken salad and a lemonade." Angela smiled as she gave her order.
The waitress left them.
Now, they were alone. Technically, there were people around them but alone as in nobody was gonna bother them.
"I dont talk much, as you know, Ryan but I have to ask. What do you think about life? I mean, there is something you want to share with someone, I can tell by the look in your eyes." Angela said rather confidently.
Ryan didnt expect that. Her to speak first and to ask such a difficult question? Very unexpected.
"Well, it is kinda controversial but its about...parents. You know, the problem is that the parents, they.. they don't teach their children to go to school, make friends and have a good time. They are most obsessed with their children acing their exam and getting a job, like, they are teaching them literally to get out as quickly as possible and live on their own. Its really harsh, you know?"
Angela was surprised to hear that from Ryan. Was Brenda harsh on him?
"Why do you think that? Did Mistress Brenda and Sir Charles act that way?"
"Oh..hahah...no" Ryan scratched his head and scoffed.
Angela raised her brow in confusion.
"Its...my friends..." Ryan looked down "This guy Mike, my best friend. I remember going to his home, chilling as usual as a kid and I almost every day, saw his parents, like...grunting at him for not being well in academics. Same with others but Mike's condition really hurt me. I felt...for him...I didnt like seeing him so scared and sad." Ryan's voice lowered as he explained his consensus.
"Ohh, Really? Thats sad." The only words Angela can think of as she felt remorse for Mike's past.
A few moments of silence.
Even Angela felt awkward of replying to short. Cant blame her, she didnt know what to say.
"Lets change topic. Lets talk about awkward moments. I'll go first." Ryan's mood lightened up, suddenly.
Angela also felt like to talk about something else, something less depressing.
"Its was when I was 12, I was coming home from school, which bernard picked me up, by the way. I went upstairs to look for mom. Just outside the door, I heard huge banging noises and music. Slowly, opening the door, it was mom...dancing, in orange pyjamas with dad who was wearing matching pyjamas too. They were dancing on the song, Take on me, with their hands moving in sync with one another and legs shaking continuously in a cave man like manner. It was soo bizarre, I first looked in shock then Laughed my ass off. Mom saw me and screamed 'RYAN!' so hard her voice cracked." Ryan started to chuckle.
Ryan displayed with his hands how stupidly Brenda was dancing making Angela chuckle as well. But that mimicry of Brenda's voice made them both laugh harder.
The laughs died down.
"So, tell anything funny about your mom. I mean, no offense, for just fun, you know" Ryan asked.
"Okay." Angela started after thinking for a second. "It was my dad's birthday. He was coming home a bit late than usual but it worked for us, since we wanted to give him a surprise. Our apartment neighbour's were waiting for the prank and dad's arrival. We all had planned...I mean, mom mostly, that when dad comes all would scream happy birthday and right before he could blow off the candles, mom would come from behind and smash his face on the cake. But...hahaha...As dad blew the candles, he heard something from behind. Like a ninja he side stepped and well mom tripped and fell at the cake. The room was filled with laughs, which lasted for more than an hour, I think. Mom was completely covered in cake, I couldn't tell if she even had a face. Haha, She locked herself in a room the whole night in embarrassment." Angela started to chuckle.
Ryan chuckled modestly because he really found it funny. Especially, when Angela elaborated her mothers looks and reaction.
'She's funny. Why doesn't she talk much?'
"Yeah, that was in the year when she passed on to the Lord." Angela's smile remained but her look diverted.
Ryan saw it and had to do something, since he was the one reminding her of her mom.
"Hey, dont worry. She is alright. I know you miss her like hell but know that she is fine. She is watching over you as we speak. She probably is waiting for the day when you visit her and she will take each second in taking revenge."
Hahah
Angela giggled, then smiled shyly. Ryan also smiled.
Ryan did the same thing again. AGAIN. He was spaced out by the sight before him. The same giggle and smile just dulled his senses and caused him to stare at her.
Angela looked up to notice the look on his face. She looked down and bit her cheek, to stop her from grinning. Gathering all of her strength she finally spoke.
"What? Is there something on my face?"
"No, it is your face...You're the most beautiful girl I've ever met and I cant believe God has created you." Ryan whispered in his dry voice, apparently, he was conscious.
Angela gestured with her eyes to her hand. Ryan didnt get what she was saying, until he looked down. Ryan was holding Angela's hand softly.
"Oop, Sorry, I wasnt aware." Ryan quickly pulled his hand back.
"Foods getting cold." Angela gestured again.
'What? When did this arrive?'
Ryan, like a bird, kept on looking here and there for the waitress who delivered their order.
"Wow. Maybe, I was lost...maybe, too lost." Ryan smirked flirtatiously, acting like a smartass.
"So, you're a stalker too, huh? Mister Ryan Reeves." Angela took a bite and looked seriously at Ryan.
Ryan opened his mouth and held his hand to say something, to make up an excuse but couldnt come up with anything.
Angela only giggled at this moment and enjoyed her salad, leaving Ryan humiliated.
Ryan thought of something. He was clearly embarrassed for staring too much, hence, he thought of something else that would be more like a move, so that this would not create an unnecessary silence.
Ryan took a piece of his steak and brought it closer to Angela. Angela looked up to see Ryan's fork pretty close to her face.
"Try it, its good." Ryan whispered.
"uhhh..What?" Angela's heart skipped a beat.
Right infront of her was Ryan, offering her his food, that he wanted to feed her himself. Angela's eyes opened wider than usual. She still wasnt believing what she was seeing. Her heart was beating fast with her mind getting blocked from reality.
'Go on, go on. Its just food he's offering, nothing to be afraid of. Nothing to be so shy of.'
Angela slowly moved her head forward, took the piece of meat and chewed on it, her eyes were still focused on Ryan. Ryan smiled and continued his meal while Angela slowly chewed and swallowed the piece. A red hue started to appear on her cheeks as she processed all that was happening. She looked at her plate as her thoughts begin to regenerate.
'Seriously? Why am I feeling that warm feeling as before when Ryan teased me? Uughh, why did he think of doing that? That smile is so annoying, sometimes!'
Ryan was successful in making her feel that way but was Ryan really trying to make her nervous?
"Did you like it?"
"Hmm?"
Angela looked up.
"The steak? Did you like it?"
"Y-yeah. I-it was great. Thank you."
Ryan stopped.
"Sorry."
Angela stopped as well. Huh?
"I know that felt awkward, im sorry. Just...I ...thought...You'll like it. Not the meat, the gesture of sharing...I thought it will look nice and maybe you would be satisfied with it."
'What? What??!! He wasnt...was he? He was trying to make me smile. He was doing that for me?'
Angela blushed again.
"N-no. No, no, no. Why are you saying sorry? Its alright--I mean,... I did like it.." Angela looked down as she admitted it.
Ryan only smiled.
A few moments passed.
Ryan started to look up as he saw something infront of his eyes. It was a fork.
Angela holding it.
Ryan looked at Angela in disbelief.
Angela smiled and squinted her eyes "You scratch my back, I scratch yours?"
Ryan smiled in satisfaction and accepted the food.
Both staring at each other. Eyes focused on one another. The wind slowed down. Time seemed to stop.
Hahhaha
Both burst out laughing making the surrounding customers expression replaced with atrocity. The laughs ended and the couple continued to talk and share funny incidents. Angela kept on hearing Ryan's stories, enjoying every bit, chuckling at each one and eventually getting lost in his eyes.
Ryan was funny and so open. How he was making her laugh, sharing eveything, it all made her feel like she was home. Feel accepted. The way he was talking, his polite, hilarious tone was enjoyable. She was loving this date. This beautiful date.
Angela found herself getting lost in Ryan's words as she saw how clean his slate was. It was a perfect move to agree for this date.
'Its so fun being around him.'
The couple finished their meals with Ryan paying for it. Angela tried to take out money but Ryan was too quick.
Stepping out, Ryan was unlocking the door locks of his car, when Angela stopped him.
"Ryan?"
Turning around "Hmm?"
"I want to walk...Being in car is boring, dont you think? Lets enjoy some air, let me take you to this park." Angela requested politely.
"Im game. Seems like a good idea." Ryan said as he locked the car and gestured his date to lead the way.
Angela liked it. She liked Ryan accepting her small request like that. It made her feel like an equal, which in every date, partners expect.
Angela kept on glancing, as they walked, at Ryan from the corner of her eye until Ryan caught her, which made her blush.
"Is there something you find creepy on me, Miss Angela?"
"No, its just your face." Angela replied, chuckling at the end.
Ryan didnt scoff
"Yeah, I know. But did you notice that from your eyes or did that pointed nose sniff that out." Ryan held his laughter until Angela gasped and touched her nose as she felt it.
Looking elsewhere in humiliation, she thought of a perfect revenge. Angela stepped on Ryan's right leg making him jump in pain infront of everyone.
"Oouch! Hey, that hurt!"
Angela didnt reply, she just walked with an annoyed expression.
Ryan caught up.
"Hey, wait up! Hey...Jeez, sorry, okay?"
Angela smiled mischievously as she replied "Its okay, Sir Ryan."
That made Ryan grin.
'Fiesty as ever! She's something else.'
"Ryan, If you dont mind my asking, what to you prefer in a girl. Like, qualities and what to expect in return?"
Ryan glanced at her.
"No, I dont mind that. A good question, though." Ryan replied, then, thought for a moment.
Moment of silence.
"Well, you know about Mary and how we met our twisted ends. See in relationship, only one thing should matter and that is trust. Trust is not easy to buy, not easy to maintain and impossible to regain but if there is trust then all the problems cease to exist. Trust breeds calmness, which further breeds a understanding environment you know. But what I expect from a girl is loyalty. Cheating is unforgivable, hence, loyalty is all I want. Have you ever seen a girl who is disrespectful but loyal? Nah, if a girl is loyal she has every quality anyone wants."
'Ryan...You continue to amaze me! I was expecting you to say qualities like sensitive, caring and peaceful but loyalty is what you want. Thats so sweet!...
Im sorry you had to have Mary of all people. She will get what she deserves, I swear.'
Angela felt a tinge of anger in her heart too as Ryan mentioned the name of Mary.
Angela smiled wholeheartedly.
"I didnt expect that answer, Ryan. Im so impressed, honestly! You're a good soul." Angela smiled at Ryan which Ryan heard and blushed as he heard the final remark.
"Sooooo...what about you? First date, right?" Ryan asked anxiously.
"Hmmm. Lemme think." Angela thought and was reminded of an incident at high school.
Ryan looked at her as he saw that she remebered something.
Both were walking side by side with minimum distance in between them, talking on and on, without even realsing how many people stopped to look at the lovely couple.
"Okay, listen. In high school, I was walking out of my class when this guy, Pedro or something like that stopped me. He was like 'Hola, do you have notes of Maths? I need it.'" Angela even mimicked the Spanish accent, making Ryan laugh, genuinely.
"I was like, yeah I do, you want them now. And pedro, as I remember, didnt even have a perfect Spanish accent, it felt like he was faking it. But the girls were seriously crazy for him. Anyway, he said, 'No, senorita. Can I do the owners of taking you out?'"
As Ryan heard that, he felt his heart skip a beat.
"I was like, Take me out? No, I mean, like a fight?
His reply : No, like going out. I was confused beyound belief, I just said, my Dad's here, sorry gotta go and I vanished. Heh" Angela stopped, her mouth opened as she realised it, finally. "Now, that I think of it, he was asking me out on a date! Hahahh. Poor Pedro, everybody made fun of him and I didnt even know I was the one who rejected him." Angela giggled holding her head.
"Yeah, poor Pedro, indeed." Ryan faked a scoff.
Angela looked at Ryan who was having a staring contest with the ground. He looked sad.
Angela knew what it was. Instead of making up, she decided to annoy him.
"Oh, do I smell jealousy?"
"Jealous? No, I was...I wasn't jealous. Jealous? Me? No, thats not possible. Jealous." Ryan stammered continuously.
' Yup, jealous indeed. I like it when he gets like that.'
Angela laughed mockingly making Ryan even more irritated.
'Damn it, she's enjoying this!'
A few moments passed.
Ryan thought of changing the topic.
"Speaking of Pedro. There was this dude, in our section named Pedro, too. A nerdy book worm wity terrible hair, like worse than Mom's." Ryan scoffed, Angela mouth widened as she heard Ryan making fun of his mom.
"Like, he was an awkward yet a confident guy. No girl, I mean, No girl, ever looked at him. Not even his mother for, all I know."
Angela laughed hard.
"So one day, Pedro stood at the central table of the cafeteria, threw his food at the floor to get everybody's attention and he began. Clearing his throat, he sang, All of me by john legend. His voice, his tone, it was HEAVENLY!! Seriously, it was so mesmerising, even the teachers rushed to hear it. Everyone was shocked and were like 'That idiot, pedro?' It was so wild Me and My besty Mike couldnt believe it. As it ended the cheers and claps didnt stop for a while but when it stopped, Chelsea, the hottest girl in school at that time, went to Pedro, grabbed his shirt and gave him a kiss, earning another wave of cheers. Mike and I, we cried tears of blood. It was painful yet so beautiful. The guy debuted so wild and became most popular in all of the campus. Hah, Pedro. Such a creep that man." Ryan explained fully and smiled genuinely at Pedro's fame.
Angela heard everything and liked what she heard but her mind shifted to another topic.
'Chelsea...hottest girl, huh? Mention that again, I dare you...bastard'
Angela thought angrily.
"Yeah" A short reply by Angela.
Ryan looked at her and found the perfect opportunity for revenge.
"Oh, do I smell jealousy in the air?" Ryan said in a squeaky voice.
Angela glanced, her eyes filled with rage and annoyance.
Ryan burst out laughing, holding his stomach as did. Each laughter was getting into her nerves, irritating even more. Angela quickened her steps to just get away from this annoying dude but Ryan followed.
"Hey, hey. Sorry, okay? Angela...ahahh, sorry I told you, Im like that."
Angela didnt reply.
"I told you, Im like this infront of people I like being with. Im glad you became our maid, Angela, youre the most fun person I've ever met." Ryan said genuinely.
'What? Did he just say that? Did he mean that. Ryan! Wait, what? I wanted to be angry at him but now I'm becoming satisfied by just his one remark? Damn it, this is so annoying...'
Angela looked to the right to hide the hue on her cheeks.
"Hey, wait here, I'll be back." Angela said and quickly went to the ice cream trolley, nearby.
Ryan looked at her unsure of what she was doing. She saw Angela smiling and laughing with the server. Did she know him?
Angela came back with two short cones with a creamy topping. She handed one to Ryan. Ryan was curious of how it'd taste but it certainly didnt look tasty. From its appearance, it was just a normal ice cream.
Slowly, taking out his tongue, Ryan licked the cream.
Delicious!
Ryan became suddenly surprised of the flavour of the cream. It was so rich, neither too sweet nor too salty, neither too dense neither too creamy. It was perfectly balanced. A party in his mouth. After the first lick, Ryan munched on it rapidly as if it was the last time he was going to taste it.
Angela scoffed at this cute moment.
Ryan eventually stopped as he realised what he was doing.
"Hey, got something on your face." Angela stepped forward and cleaned the cream on the tip of Ryan's nose with a small napkin.
She smiled at Ryan, at his cuteness.
"Like it?"
"Its delicious! So tasty, you better keep yours away from me." Ryan joked.
Angela was satisfied that Ryan loved what she bought for him. It really put a smile on her face.
"So who is that server? You know him?" Ryan took a few more licks.
"Oh, him? Thats joey, I've been coming to taste his ice cream for as long as I can remember. Which reminds me, this is the park I was talking about. I came here everyday with my parents just so I could walk the gardens and taste this cuisine you know. And thats how joey became a friend of ours." Angela said smiling toward Joe.
"Wow. Thats really great. How you cling to one special place is really impressive, maybe thats why everyone is fond of you, huh?" Ryan flirted smoothly.
Angela raised her brows feeling proud of this quality.
"Excuse me, güero." Someone patted on Ryan's lower back from the side.
Turing around to see a brown kid with a camera and a few pictures. The kid, Spaniard from his accent, gave the pictures to Ryan which Angela also took a look at.
They were taken just now. A picture where Ryan is slurping on the ice cream while Angela giggled. Another where Angela cleaned Ryan's nose. Another where they are both talking and smiling at one another. Candid but astonishing.
"Hey! When did you take these? They're good!" Ryan asked as he looked at each picture closely.
"I just saw youse couple looking beautiful as ever, so I thought it's the perfect time to take them." The young photographer said with honesty.
"Wow, you have skill, honey! How'd you learn to do that?" Angela asked politely.
The kid looked down, ashamed of something.
Ryan looked at him and asked "You okay, kid?"
"Im not trying to gain sympathy but thats what I do for a living." Ryan and Angela looked at each other than at him.
"I used to work at my dad's shop, but that bussines didn't go well. From the shop, this camera survived and to help my father, who is also working at this moment, I take pictures and sell them." The kid said honestly.
Angela looked at the kid, not believing what she heard just now. A young 11 year old, working as a photographer to support his family. At this age! Such a talent but disturbed by the unfaithful conditions. Angela felt only respect for the kid. It kinda reminded her of herself.
"So, You choose to work hard and never give up? Is that true kid." Ryan asked seriously.
The talented photographer nodded diligently before saying "I have legs and arms, why beg when you can do much better, right?"
Ryan scoffed, astonished by the moxie of this kid. No excuses, only work and work. And at this age the kid was already rich by heart.
Ryan had finished his ice cream before the photographer approached them. Ryan took out his vaulet, opened it, and gave the kid 500$.
"Take this kid, and remember, Never ever give up, never back down, work hard always and always believe in yourself." Ryan said with an acknowledged grin.
The young boy hugged Ryan in happiness before vanishing and bowing in respect.
Angela didn't know what to say, didnt know what to think, she just stared at Ryan. That act was utterly righteous, selfless and by pure heart. How Ryan was moved by the boy and gave the kid so much money just left her speechless. Angela developed more and more respect for her date. Looking elsewhere, Angela blushed, felt her heart flutter for a few moments.
'Youre something, Ryan.'
Angela's daydreaming came to an end when she heard a voice calling her beloveds' name.
"Hey, yo, Ryan. Whats up, dude?"
Turning around, it was Mike wraping his arm around Ryan's neck.
'Oh, deep shit!'
"H-h-hey, Mike." Ryan stuttered.
'He had to spawn at this time of the day?!'
"You've been busy, huh? Not picking up my ca--" Mike turned his head to notice, a ravenhead nearby standing in confusion.
"Oh, shit! So thats what you've been doing, huh?" Mike gave a knowing smile and from the looks of it he was going to screw things up.
Ryan shook his head non stop, giving a signal, for Mike to stop. He was literally begging from his eyes.
Mike enjoyed this second "Michael, Nice to meet you." Mike introduced himself.
"Angela Doss. The pleasure is all mine." Angela said smiling.
'Damn, she really is hot in them clothes!'
"Sorry to interrupt but Ryan hasnt been picking up his calls, his friends, want to meet him."
At this moment Ashley and Jessica jumped and surrounded Ryan, leaving the poor guy nervous as hell. It was a date yet he felt so nervous, he begged God to do something.
Sighing hard, Ryan spoke "Lemme introduce you guys. Angela, that douchebag is Mike. Redhead is Jessica and this blondie is Ashley. My friends since kindergarten. And guys this is Angela, she's my friend."
Angela said Hi and smiled to all three.
"Friend? Really?" Mike mocked raising his brows.
'Jesus, Mike, please.'
"Things working out, eh Ryan?"
"Mike!" Ryan shook his head, indicating him to remain quiet.
"Which reminds me...that night after the bar. When he saw you like that, he cried like a bitch and --"
Dub
Ryan punched Mikes arm in total frustration.
"Shut up, Mike!" Ryan growled.
The girls laughed with Mike who seemed to enjoy annoying Ryan like that. Angela tried to hide her smile and maintained her postion, looking elsewhere in shyness.
"Excuse us." Jessica pulled Ryan with Mike leaving Ashley to stand beside Angela.
"Dude, why didnt you pick up our call? And when the hell were you gonna tell me about this sudden patch up?" Mike interrogated.
"Forget about that. Ryan, seriously, is that the person your mad for? Damn, she is gorgeous." Jessica said glancing at Angela.
Ryan could only smile at this remark.
"Its more than that. She's a good person, really hardworking too."
"Come on, Ryan we know she is your maid, but Damn, she is one hell of a dame. You got yourself a jackpot there." Jessica winked.
"So things are working out? Which reminds me? Where's my money man? I won the bet!"
The topic shifted from Angela to Mike's bet.
Mike's pitch elevated making Angela hear abit of their conversation.
"Crazy, huh? They're always like this." Ashley said looking at the wild trio.
"Yeah, Hehe. I never thought Ryan had friends who were more like him than he is himself." Angela scoffed making Ashley laugh too.
"Angela, right? Enjoying the time with him?" Ashley looked at the ravenhaired beauty.
"Yeah, I think its probably the best day of my life. I found out so many things about him." Angela glanced at Ryan.
"He is extremely annoying, somtimes he irritates me so much I just wanna drop him to the bottomless pit of the earth."
"But even that wont stop him. He will still find a way out, right?" Angela grinned making Ashley laugh.
Both were getting along pretty well.
"He's an amazing guy, he does these things that attract you, like gravity."
"Amazing is an underrated word. Words cant describe what he really is. Infinite qualities in just one person, like impossible but possible." Angela praised Ryan.
Ashley looked at Angela happily.
"You like him, don't you?" Ashley asked politely.
"I...I'm not sure." Angela gave an awkward laugh.
"Take care of him. He truly deserves it, poor guy suffered too much."
Angela knew what she was referring to. Mary. The girl who cheated on Ryan with such cruelty.
"Jess, convince Ashley, okay?"
"You got it!" Jessica replied.
The trio stepped forward, bid farewell and left.
Ryan and Angela looked at each other and then elsewhere. It was awkward now. What Mike kept on saying infront of Angela was still clinging to her mind, and it kept on making her blush. So with Ryan.
"So, what was your friend talking about? What bet?" Angela asked anxiously.
'Fuck! That stupid bet. How do I tell her it was about our kiss? She'd kill me if she found out I had made a bet when she was unconscious and probably suffering through that experience?'
"Uhhh, what? I...I don't know--Lets go to the park." Ryan stammered making Angela confused.
The couple walked to the park. The scenery was soo peaceful! A large land surging with pine trees and tall grass. Thin, pebble surged lanes with clean coloured benches at each corner. Couples walking their children and some athletes jogging continuously.
Ryan was impressed, he didnt expect it to be this quiet and cheering.
"Mom, Dad and I used to come to this park almost everyday. We walked and walked, and didnt keep track of time, like, time flied for us. It was fun." Angela kept on glancing at the scenery, smiling and telling more and more of her stories.
Apparently, she didnt even stop to catch her breath. Angela kept on talking but Ryan didnt mind it, he actually wanted her to talk until she herself gets tired. The smile on Angela's face, her altering expresion was warming Ryan's entire chest. He loved her cute habit of excitement.
During the talks Ryan slowly grabbed Angelas hand. Angela stopped immediately as she felt the touch of Ryan. Her mouth shut and body startled. Angela looked at Ryan.
Ryan became concerned thinking if he had offended her.
"Oh--I thought...I thought." Ryan sighed
"Can I hold your hand?"
Angela was surprised to hear that. Why would he wanna ask let alone do that, all of a sudden? She wasnt nervous nor afraid just surprised.
Angela giggled "I guess, youre not supposed to ask that in a date. Being a gentleman, eh?"
"We all know what happened last time, when I did something without your permission." Ryan grabbed his left cheek "A straight burning slap across this flawless cheek."
Angela burst out laughing. She wasnt expecting Ryan to bring that up but the way he brought that up, cracked her up.
The giggles were fluttering the tall guy's heart. Ryan didnt want her to stop, stopping her would be no less than doomsday for him.
'Jesus, man, those GIGGLES.!!!'
The laugh died.
Angela maintained eye contact before saying "Well, as an apology for my reaction.." Angela lifted her hand, offering Ryan to hold it.
Ryan grinned, as he moved forward and held Angela's hand. The warm touch of his thick hands made Angela blush. It was comfortable, actually as for her, it felt like she had protection. Angela looked at Ryan as Ryan kept on talking about the scenery.
'Why is this so relaxing? Its so comfortable.'
Angela went to the bathroom while Ryan waited patiently outside. It had been only 5 minutes since, they hadn't seen each other but it felt like forever.
"Ryan?" A soft voice came from behind.
Ryan turned around to see it was someone familar. Someone well known. Someone he loved. Mary Joseph.
"Hey, Ryan. Is that you?"
Ryan felt his heart getting heavy like someone had placed a couple of cinder blocks at his chest. His mind was blank, not with shock but with uneasiness.
"Hi..." a short reply.
Mary gulped and tried again.
"Its me, Mary. Its been a long time, huh? Youve gotten cuter." Mary fake laughed.
'Why am I even talking to her?!'
"Yeah, I know. Long time, indeed. Where is Jack?" Ryan asked in sarcasm.
Mary could feel the anger in his voice.
"He...and I broke up a few months ago." Mary replied looking down.
Ryan didnt feel glad, neither did he feel any remorse for her. It was like he heard a normal thing, like, "Sunny day".
Mary felt it again, the ignorance, the strong will of this guy.
"Listen, Ryan, Im really so--"
"Hey, Ry, honey!"
A soft voice filled with energy came from the side.
Angela.
Angela said that and grabbed Ryans arm and smiled wholeheartedly. A smile a baby gives as it wakes up to see its mother infront of it.
Ryan looked at Angela in surprise. His heart felt lighter now.
"Oh, Sorry. Am I interrupting?" Angela asked.
"Oh, No, ummm. Youre not." Ryan said.
'What is she doing?'
"Oh, Hey. I...didn't..know you were on a date, Ryan. Im Mary, nice to meet you." Mary said slowly.
"Date? No! We were out on a stroll and just visited this park. Im Angela Doss, Ryan's fiancee."
'WHAT??!!'
Ryans mouth opened with Mary's and held the same shock.
"Hahah, I know right. He proposed last month." Angela placed her head on his shoulder and rubbed her cheeks.
Mary had nothing to say. She was shocked beyond belief. Her mind was blank, her heart had almost stopped beating and she barely held her ground.
"Sorry, getting late. Come on, Ry, Mike's waiting for us at his house. It was nice seeing you." Angela dragged her "Fiance" away from the bathroom.
Ryan didnt have a chance to say anything, he just went along with the act and followed the crazy girl. Ryan felt the entire weight lifting off of chest, his body felt light and he had somehow gained his ability to talk and think again. He looked at Angela with awe, thinking about what just happened and how she helped him.
Walking away from the bathroom, Ryan grabbed Angela's hand, making her stop. Ryan moved her to a thick tree nearby and allowed her to stand next to it. Ryan looked happy. Not happy, GLAD! His face was filled with relief but with surprise also.
"Angela...you...you didnt have to do that." Ryan whispered.
"You didnt want that to happen?" Angela replied with concern.
"No, its not that...I mean, .." Ryan couldn't find the words.
Angela placed her hand on Ryan's left chest.
"She broke this, Ryan, and not by mistake but by her own volition." Angela clenched the clothe "She hurt you, Ryan, she did what is prohibited in a relationship. You showed so much compassion and she used it against you, you trusted her too much and got your heart broken. You are naive, Mister. Thats all. I know you, and youre a good person, and I swear I will not tolerate if someone does anything to you."
Ryan looked at Angela like Angela had said she was pregnant. A sudden good news that would blow his mind away.
"I...Thank you...But...why go so far...for me?"
Angela looked at Ryan's eyes, they scanned him from eyes to feet and back to eyes. She smiled mischievously and walked passed Ryan, holding her hands together and swaying her head from left to right. She looked back at Ryan, noticing his cute expression and started to giggle.
Ryan stared at her. His mouth curved into a smile "Fucking hell, This girl..."
'What'd I do to deserve her?'
The couple reached ther residence, only to find that Brenda and Charles were out as well. Strange, they do call Ryan, when Ryans out like this.
It was still a bit early, around 8 but both were very tired of having fun all day.
They both entered the residence, and went straight to the living room to see if the elder couple was present. Angela was removing her outerwear when she felt a hand supporting her. It was Ryan. The outer wear came off, Angela turned around to face her date.
Angela smiled along with Ryan and looked into each others eyes. Getting lost as usual.
"Thank you, for going out with me." Ryan placed his hand on Angela's cheek.
"Thank you, for asking me out, Ryan. I had a blast with you. It was one of the best days of my life."
Ryan looked at her face, her lips looked so pink. Her thin, tale lips stole his attention. He heard voices. Ryan heard in his head, a voice. A voice, telling him to make the move.
'Why has he stopped? Why isn't he kissing me? Maybe, I should make the move first? Come on, Ryan. Do it!'
Cup
Ryan leaned in claiming Angela's lips to which, obviously, Angela kissed back. They both tensed up. Angela's body heated up, heart fluttering non stop, and her mind going blank. Slowly, the grip around Ryan's neck tightened, as the kiss continued.
'So this is a genuine kiss, huh? Its so good. Maybe I like it even more because I want to kiss him. Huh, My second kiss.'
Ryan slowed down, slowly cocked his head back to stop but suddenly, Angela lunged forward to claim Ryans lips again. She didnt want it to end and her actions were clearly describing it.
Eventually they let go of the kiss and stared again at each other.
"Lets call it a day?" Ryan asked.
Angela nodded diligently and let go of the hug.
Both went to their rooms and jumped on their beds, thinking about today and how much they loved the others company. The talks, jokes, games, food and the moments all were washing over them making them smile in joy.
"So this is love, huh? " Both thought before drifting off to sleep.
