Hey!
Emmione Watser here!
I was listening to 'Rewrite The Stars by Zac Efron and Zendaya' earlier today, and I thought that I should make a songfic about it. This is going to be a Dramione one-shot. In this fic, the war never happened and the main characters are in 7th year (except Ginny, she's in 6th year).
Anyway, I'll stop talking and let you read! Enjoy!
McGonagall tapped her water goblet and the whole Hall went silent. Hermione Granger looked at the head of Gryffindor house intently.
"Attention!" McGonagall called, even though she already had everyone's attention. "6th and 7th years, please stay in the Hall after the younger students have gone to bed."
Once the younger students had gone to bed, all the 6th and 7th years stayed in the Great Hall.
"This year, we are going to have a singing competition." McGonagall paused to let her words sink in.
"Oooh! That could be fun!" Ginny Weasley said at the Gryffindor table.
"I guess…" Hermione replied.
"This is going to be soooo boring." Draco Malfoy said to his friends at the Slytherin table.
"I don't know…" Blaise Zabini replied.
"A sign up sheet will be at the front of the Hall. You may choose to do it alone, or with a partner or partners." McGonagall continued.
"Hermione! We should do it together!" Ginny said to her best friend.
"I don't know… I can't sing." Hermione said.
Ginny raised her eyebrow. "Um… yes you can. You have an amazing voice."
"Really?"
"Yes."
"You have a better voice."
"No, I don't. No one has a better singing voice than you."
"Now that is not true. Have you heard of Rose Tucci?"
"Who?"
"Never mind." Hermione shook her head.
"Draco, come on, we have to do it. It sounds like fun!" Blaise urged.
"Blaise, I can't sing." Draco replied.
"Yes, you can, and you will!"
"No. I will not."
"Please, for me?" Blaise did puppy eyes.
"Seriously? I would never do something for you." Draco told him.
"Oh! I know who you will do something for." Blaise wiggled his eyebrows.
"What?"
"I'll be right back!" Blaise ran off and Draco just shook his head. His friend would go to any length to get what he wanted, but that's probably why he was a Slytherin.
"Granger! Weaslette!" Hermione heard a voice behind her.
"Blaise Zabini?" she asked as she turned around.
"Yeah, are you joining the singing competition?"
"Um…-"
"Yes, we are. Together." Ginny cut in. Hermione looked at her.
"Great. Can I ask you a favor?" Blaise said.
"Uh… sure, since you're not the worst Slytherin I've met." Hermione said.
"Thank… you? Anyway, can I join your group?"
"What?" Hermione asked.
"Of course you can!" Ginny exclaimed. "Right Hermione?"
"Right…"
"And can… Draco join too…?" Blaise asked.
"What?!" Hermione cried.
"Um… I don't know… will he be… civil?" Ginny asked.
"Of course, I'll make sure of that." Blaise reassured her.
"Okay, then!" Ginny confirmed. Hermione was still not convinced, but nodded slowly.
"YOU DID WHAT?!" Draco screamed.
"I asked Granger and Weaslette if we could join their band… thing." Blaise replied matter-of-factly.
"I know that! Why did you do that?!"
"Because… you'll do it for her, won't you?" Blaise wiggled his eyebrows.
"Ugh! No I- fine." Draco gave in.
"Yes!"
That's why, a few days later, Hermione, Ginny, Blaise and Draco were in the Room of Requirement thinking of a song to sing.
"Oh! Why don't we do 'What makes you beautiful' by a muggle band One Direction?" Blaise suggested. Ginny and Draco looked confused, for they had no idea what this 'One Direction' was.
"I like that song, but I don't think it will work…" Hermione said.
"Okay then."
"And how do you know a muggle band?" Draco asked.
Blaise just shrugged. "I pick things up."
"Why don't we write our own song?" Ginny suggested.
"Yes! We can do that." Hermione said.
"Yeah, for once Weaslette has a good idea!" Draco said, feigning amazement. Ginny and Hermione both rolled their eyes and Blaise gave him a look that said 'Be quiet!'
The next day, Hermione had written a full song.
"Here. I call it 'Rewrite The Stars'." she placed the sheet music for the piano, on the piano and started to play and sing along.
(A/N: You can listen to the song to get what she sang)
Hermione played the last note and the other three started clapping. Hermione blushed.
"We should do that. Mainly because it was awesome. But also because none of us have a song." Blaise said.
"Okay." Ginny said. "Let's start practicing!"
When the time of the competition came, the Shooting Stars (Hermione, Ginny, Blaise and Draco's band name) were ready with their song.
"Where have you two been sneaking off to?" Harry exclaimed.
"You'll see soon enough…" Ginny replied mysteriously.
"Welcome everyone!" McGonagall called out to the school. There was a whole stage set up at the front of the Great Hall with instruments and everything else you need for a singing competition. "First up we have… the Grenades!"
After a few more bands went, it was finally the Shooting Stars' turn.
"Next up we have… the Shooting Stars!" McGonagall called. Hermione, Ginny, Blaise and Draco all crept on the stage. Hermione made her way to the piano, Draco to the guitar, Ginny to the bass, and Blaise to the drums.
The curtains went up and Hermione started playing. The rest of them joined in at the appropriate times. They all sang their hearts out.
Once they had finished, the whole school broke out into applause. Even the Slytherins.
The Shooting Stars got up and bowed before leaving the stage.
Harry and Ron were looking-no, staring-at Ginny and Hermione for the next day. Firstly, because Harry and Ron didn't know the girls could sing, and secondly, because they had sung with Slytherins.
"What is your problem?!" Ginny asked when she saw them staring again.
"What? Nothing." Harry replied.
"You keep staring at us." Hermione said.
"Oh, um…" Ron started.
"Never mind." Harry finished and got up from the couch they were sitting on. Ron quickly followed him.
"What is wrong with them?" Ginny asked her best friend.
"I have no idea. It might be because we sang with Slytherins. And we did so good." Hermione explained.
"Yeah, we did!" Ginny and Hermione high-fived. "But I was wondering… where did you get inspiration for that song?" Ginny asked.
"Oh, uh…"
"Come on!"
"Oh, fine. It's because… I might sorta… like someone… and we can't be together."
"Oh my gosh! Can I take a wild guess here at who it is?"
"Uh, su-
"Is it Malfoy?!" Ginny exclaimed excitedly.
"What? Of course not." Hermione replied, not convincing at all.
"You like Malfoy?!" Ginny almost screamed.
"Shhh… keep your voice down." Hermione warned, for people looked at her weirdly.
"Sorry." Ginny whispered. "You like Malfoy?"
"Maybe…" Hermione blushed.
"Come on! You have to tell her sooner or later!" Blaise urged.
"Then I choose later." Draco snapped.
"Why? You really like her, and I think she might like you back!"
"Really?"
"Yes, really!"
"I'm still not telling her."
"Oh, please?!"
"Only if you tell Weaslette how you feel about her."
"Okay!" Blaise said, jumping up.
"I didn't really… mean that." Draco sighed and got up and followed Blaise out the dorm room.
Blaise ran around pretty much the whole school in search of Ginny and Hermione, Draco following him grudgingly. Then Blaise realized they were probably in Hermione's dorm. So he ran to the portrait of the Fat Lady.
"Password?" the Fat Lady eyed Blaise and Draco suspiciously.
"Um…" Blaise replied when he realized they didn't know the password.
"Fortuna Major." a voice said from behind them.
"Brown, Patil." Draco said as he turned around. Lavender and Parvati nodded at them and walked into the Gryffindor common room. The Fat Lady closed the portrait before Blaise or Draco could get in.
Blaise groaned and said, "Fortuna Major?"
The Fat Lady unwillingly opened the door and Blaise walked in, looking a little proud of himself. Draco followed him right in.
"Weaslette, Granger, we have to talk to you." Blaise said, walking up to the girls.
"Okay, but can we not talk here? You're getting stares." Ginny replied. And they very well were. The people all around them were staring at the two Slytherins.
The four of them got up and walked out of the Gryffindor common room.
"So what did you want to talk about?" Ginny asked as they made their way to the Room of Requirement.
"Blaise wanted to tell you something." Draco said, giving Blaise a pointed look.
"Yeah." Blaise said, not at all fazed. "You're a really great friend, Ginny."
"Seriously?!" Draco yelled.
"What? I told her how I felt about her."
"Oh my gosh!" Draco walked a little faster. The other three quickened their pace to keep up with him.
"Thanks, Blaise. You're a really good friend, too." Ginny told Blaise.
"Thank you. At least someone sees how awesome I am!" Blaise said, looking at Draco.
"Hm." Draco said.
"Now your turn." Blaise reminded him.
"Ugh, fine." Draco said "Hermione, can I talk to you in private?"
"Sure." Hermione replied.
Draco wanted to talk to Hermione, and she was kind of worried. But he did call her by her first name, and that was a good sign. She walked with him to the next corridor, but knew that Blaise and Ginny were listening.
"So, uh… Hermione, I uh…" Draco started.
"Yes?"
"I like you!" Draco suddenly said. Hermione smiled and looked at him.
"I like you too…" she said.
"Really?!"
"Yeah…"
"YES!" Ginny and Blaise shouted as they jumped out from behind the wall.
"Seriously?" Draco said, annoyed.
"Oh, yeah, sorry, we'll leave you two to it." Ginny said and they crept away.
"So, what now?" Hermione asked, looking at Draco.
"Will you go out with me?" Draco said.
"Yes!"
