Second generation- the first year

A/N: So we are back to where Krysta is at Hogwarts. The backround chapters are over; there won't be very many more like that, seeing as this is supposed to be about Harry's CHILDREN, not Harry.

I had to split this chapter in two because it was soo lengthy and too many different things happened. Plus, I didn't want you guys to lose your place in a 5,000 or more worded chapter...

In these next two chapters, our characters face problems like jelousy, anger, insecurity, annoyed people, andweird, crazy fangirls.

Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter.

Chapter 5- Surprise, Surprise...

Albus watched as Krysta Riddle, eyes shut tight, had the hat placed on her head. It seemed to be deliberating for half a moment. Then it bellowed-

"GRYFFINDOR!"

Albus was the only person that clapped at all; everyone else seemed too dumbstruck. Krysta shakilly made her way to Gryffindor table, where Albus scooted over to make a place for her. He smiled encouragingly at her, motioning her over to him. She looked back at him, gasped, and made her way even faster to him.

"Well, now that that's settled," the Headmistress said. "Time to eat."

As soon as the Great Hall's chatter had started back up again, Krysta leaned over to Albus, whispering, "Is your dad Harry Potter?"

He looked at her. How could she know that?

"Yes," he whispered back uncertainly. Krysta looked releived.

"Your Mum told me they had two sons here... She said she wasn't sure what house you were in yet, though. Your name is either James or Albus."

"Albus," he said. "And how do you know my mother?"

Krysta looked like she wanted to cry. "I'll tell you later..." she said, and began to eat the food that had apeared on the plates.

They were eating in silence... until James showed up.

"Albus! Congradulations on being in Gryffindor. Too bad Rose didn't get in too."

"Um, Krysta, this is my brother James."

James looked disgustedly at Krysta. "Well well, if it isn't the evil supposed-to-be Slytherin..."

Albus was mortified. "James! You don't even know her!" Krysta looked at James, held back a sob, and ran out of the Great Hall.

"Good job James, you've just made a little girl cry."

James looked at Albus furiously. "She's a Riddle! She deserved it."

"And how did she deserve anything of the sort, may I ask?"

James glared at him. "I keep forgetting Mum and Dad never told us... I myself heard it here. I'm sure it's true; i've even read books about it..."

Albus gaped at him. James reading books? "Told us what?"

"That Dad's parents were killed by the Dark Lord Voldemort. That he and Aunt Hermione and Uncle Ron defeated him. That Voldemort's real name was Tom Riddle."

Albus stared. "So this girl's father-"

"Was an evil mass murderer that was killed nineteen years ago."

Albus looked at him. "That can't be right; she's only 11. Maybe her mother was married to him or something, and then later on she got pregnant with Krysta..."

James shrugged. "She looks a little like him, from the pictures."

"No, that can't be right... But even if they're related, that's no reason to yell at her like that. She is a Gryffindor, after all."

But he knew that that made no difference to her personality just from befriending Scorpius.

"I'm going to find her, James, I think you really hurt her feelings."

Suddenly Rose and Scorpius hurried over to him.

"Why did the new girl run out of the hall?" Rose asked.

"James insulted her because of her parents," Albus explained. "I'm not sure where she went, so I'm going to look for her... Want to help?"

"Sure," they agreed, and headed out of the Hall.

As it turned out, there wasn't much to help with. As soon as they reached the Entrance Hall, they saw her crying, curled up in a ball on the floor. Albus ran over to her, holding his hand out for her. "Are you ok?" he asked. "I'm sorry if James was being so rude; he gets worked up over stupid stuff... In fact, I'll bet he'll insult Scorpius down to the shoes on his feet..."

Krysta looked up at him, took his hand, and stood. She still looked like she was about to start crying again.

"Hey, its OK, don't cry. You've got friends here now."

Krysta looked at Rose and Scorpius. "Are they related to you?" she asked Albus, without looking away.

"Rose is. Scorpius is our friend. Here, come back into the Great Hall with us; a teacher will surely come out here and ask what we're doing if we don't."

Krysta followed them back into the hall, with tears threatening to pour down her face. She didn't eat anything else. Rose and Scorpius went back to sit at their own tables, and Krysta followed Albus back to theirs. Soon, a boy named Caleb Braxton called out for the first years to follow him. Albus and Krysta stood, joining the other first years and following in line with them. They were lead up some staircases and around some corners, until finally they came to a portrait of a Fat Lady in a silky pinkish dress.

"Password?" the portrait asked, making many first years jump.

"Snickerdoodle," Caleb Braxton aswered, and the portrait opened to a hole, in which Caleb had them all climb through. On the other side of the hole was a large room, which Caleb called the "common room" that had several staircases and a fireplace with several couches and chairs around it. Caleb showed them which dorms were theirs, the girl's and the boy's. Then he went up to his own dorm, and most of the first years went to theirs. Albus and Krysta stayed behind.

"So... James told me something," Albus said, "About your... Dad..."

Krysta's face twisted in pain. "I am not my father, Albus," she said plainly. "My father was a torturer. I am a healer. My mother was of the Black family, but she never knew until she turned 11. Albus, I never wanted to be his daughter. I hate him. I hate what he did, the destruction he caused. I hate to call him father. I hate what he did to my family. I hate that my mother died trying to protect me only this afternoon..."

She looked at him, eyes brimming with tears. "Did you know I was born in 1958? I don't look like it, do I? My mother and I were on our way out of America, so she could join the Order of the Phoenix, and I could start Hogwarts. She wanted so badly for me to start Hogwarts...

"But before we reached home, we were caught in a storm that turned out to be a time-warp. I awoke in the house of a muggle named Simeon, who had fainted. I revived my mother and a wizard that had heard the old muggle scream found us in the old house. He got us to St. Mungo's. My mother died that very same day-this afternoon. Everything has happend so fast since then... I didn't expect to be orphaned and adopted all in the same day..."

She sighed. "My mother's name was Anna May Black. Her nephew, my cousin, is your dad's godfather. So the auror that came to see me that morning, right after seeing his kidds off on the Hogwarts Express was your father, and your mother was with him. They had seen my mother's memories, which she had given the auror before she died. They wanted to adopt me."

Albus gazed blankly at her. Whoa. His parents had adopted Krysta... Then he smiled.

"Have you met Lily yet?"

She laughed. "Mrs. Ginny said I would meet her over Christmas holidays, if I wanted to come... home. She said Lily would be overly excited to have a sister."

"She would be... She used to beg Mum and Dad for one when she was little."

"Really?" Krysta laughed. "We'll be hearing from them soon, I guess. Mrs. Ginny said that Mr. Harry would be owling you and James soon about me. She said I could tell you myself if I really wanted..."

Suddenly they saw an owl, Candy, pecking over-excitedly at the window. Albus rushed over before she could bust a hole through it.

"Aw, Candy, don't do that!" he exclaimed.

"Candy?" Krysta laughed.

"Lily's fault," Albus told her. She just laughed again. It was a beautiful sound. Albus untied the letter from Candy's leg, and the owl hooted happily and flew away.

"Well, I guess Dad's decided to tell us now," Albus said, by looking at the sender of the letter. He smiled hugely. "James won't like this..."

Krysta frowned. "That's not funny," she said, biting back tears. Albus went over and sat next to her, and together they read the letter.

Albus,

Please do not be angry with us, son. We have done what we believe is best. We've adopted Krysta Elfrida Riddle.
No matter what you hear, son, we expect you to please try to get along with her, because you will be related to her for the rest of your life. I'm not as worried about your reaction as I am about James's, but I still worry that you won't accept her.
Please try to be understandable. She has had a tough life. Her mother only just died today.
So, what house did you get into, Albus? Your mother and I are curious.
Reply soon,
Dad

Albus smiled. "He's more worried about James's reaction than mine... James is more predictable, you see?"

Krysta nodded, blinking back tears.

"Oh, Krysta, he'll get used to you. Mum and Dad will set him straight. In fact," Albus added mischeivously, "I think that after I send this next leter, he'll never make fun of you again..."

Albus pulled out some parchment and a quill and wrote-

Dad,

You're right. James was furious that she showed up at all. He told me about you and her dad... I want to know more about that one. And not hear it from my brother. Anyway, Krysta and I are friends; we got sorted into Gryffindor together. Rose is in Ravenclaw with this really weird boy named Cory Sumter that claims to be your son. She's set him straight for now, but I heard him boasting to a tiny Hufflepuff girl about how you take him fishing every weekend. He seems to think you are famous, and so does everyone else.
When Krysta got put in Gryffindor with me, James insulted her real bad about her parents. He made her run out of the hall crying. I was wondering if you could talk to him about that, since he won't listen to me. He insists that she's evil and wants us dead.
Rose doesn't want me to tell you this, but I think I can trust you with it, to not tell her parents or Mum. I don't think you'll be against it. We've become friends with Scorpius Malfoy. He's in Slytherin, but he's a real nice bloke. He wants to make a difference in that house; that's why he chose it. Don't be mad; he seems to be pretty scared of his dad and mum and sister. I think there's something wrong there... If I get any more suspicion of the sort, I'll tell you.
I promise I'll remember to go to tea with Hagrid on Friday afternoon, and I'll bring Rose, Scorpius, and Krysta if he doesn't mind. I'll owl him about it later.
Krysta and I will keep in touch,
Albus

Krysta smiled slightly when she read the letter. "He'll be in trouble; you do realize that?"

"Oh, he'll deserve it," Albus said slyly. "I'm tired now, though, and the rest of the house should be getting in soon."

"Don't you want to see the expression on James's face when he finds out his dad adopted his ememy's daughter?" Krysta said sarcastically.

Albus thought for a moment. "I do, actually, but you don't have to."

Krysta sighed. "I might as well, since he'll have to get used to me anyway."

They silently waited fo the rest of the house to come up the stairs. Soon the portrait hole opened. James walked through it, smiling hugely. When he saw Albus he smiled wider.

"Hey Albus, I just got a letter from Dad!"

Sherman the owl flew into the room looking irritated, still tied to James's letter.

"Oh good, I did too, and I wanted to send him my reply..." Albus took the letter from the owl and tied his own onto it. "Go on, Sherman, give this to Dad."

Sherman flew out the window, and Albus handed James the letter.

"I know what that's going to say," he said. "Krysta, come here please."

Krysta walked over, but stayed hidden behind Albus, afraid of another outburst from James.

"Go on," Albus said. "Open it."

A/N: Oohh Sorry for the suspense, I just couldn't find a better place to cut it off...

And this chapter was originally VERY long.. So don't smash my head in for its smaller-than-expectedness.

Thanks for staying with me here. :D
