A/N: I don't remember what I was doing with this fic idea either. This fic idea was the precursor to "Harry Potter and the Dragons of Skyrim" titled "Hermione Granger: Daughter of Skyrim", which detailed Hermione's adventures in Skyrim during the Dragon Crisis/Civil War with the Dragonborn and Sheogorath. Only after a few hundred words I decided to scrap this idea, saving it later for posting in "Vault M2J", although at the time it was titled "The Archive Rejects". This was the original idea for a sequel to "Harry Potter and the Gates of Oblivion". Thankfully, I came to my senses.
Try not to be too harsh in reviewing this one.
Hermione Granger: Daughter of Skyrim: Sheogorath Potter
Harry took in the fresh air of Tamriel. It seemed like an eternity since he'd last enjoyed the fresh air.
Hermione looked at him uncertainly.
It was unsettling to see such a different Harry Potter than what she had left behind. There was a sense of confidence that he'd never fully possess before and he was more filled out than she was used to seeing, though he didn't possess anywhere near the amount of bulk of someone like Hadvar or Ralof. Still, he was definitely more built than the counterpart of his she'd left behind before coming to Nirn- one of many signs of having lived several years in a land that was in many ways more primitive than the one she'd left behind.
Neither she nor Illyanna, who'd been her constant travelling companion since the events of Helgen, knew what to say. When the two women entered into the Blue Palace intent on investigating the strange apparition within the Pelagius Wing, they never thought they'd encounter none other than Harry Potter- though he was more commonly known these days as Sheogorath.
To Hermione, he was her best friend who'd she'd practically grown up with. He'd been there when she retrieved her parents in Australia, had been the Best Man at her wedding and she'd been a bridesmaid at his. They'd gone through thick and thin and had saved each other's lives on several occasions- yet despite his assertions that he was the Harry she knew and loved, this Harry seemed very different from the one she was used to.
On the other hand, to Illyanna Stormrage, Harry Potter was a figure larger than life, an important historical figure in a very tumultuous time. He was the mysterious Champion of Cyrodiil, a hero of no origins and her ancestor. While it was well known that two hundred years prior, Harry Potter had gone into the mysterious doorway that had appeared in the center of the Niben Bay, it always remained uncertain what had transpired behind the portal or why he had been the only sane person to return. There was speculation about whether or not he had confided his experiences within the mysterious beyond with Martin Septim, last Emperor of the Septim Dynasty, who was said to be his greatest friend.
There had been nothing in the family histories even hinting at his association with the Daedric Prince of Madness, never mind the fact that her ancestor had somehow become him. At least it explained why her family had revered Sheogorath since the time of the Oblivion Crisis when anti-daedric groups were sprouting up all over the place and how the tradition of visiting the Sheogorath Shrine in Cyrodiil at least once in their lifetime had begun. Only Tiber Septim (despite the conditions of the White-Gold Concordat) and Akatosh were traditionally given such reverence, however, unlike Sheogorath, the reasons why were well documented.
After all, Harry Potter had not only been a key figure in stopping the Oblivion Crisis, but he was still the only member of the now eradicated Knights of the Nine to hold the title of "Holy Crusader", having managed to defeat and kill Umaril the Unfeathered (something even the "Divine Crusader" Pelinal Whitestrike couldn't boast) due to the added blessing of Talos.
"It's been so long since I'd set foot on Tamriel," Harry said wistfully. "I'd almost forgotten how beautiful it was here. Still… Skyrim was always a bit too chilly for my tastes. Personally, I preferred the Colovian Highlands in Cyrodiil or Western Morrowind."
"A lot has changed since those days," Illyanna replied hesitantly.
"It's been two hundred years, so I certainly hope so," Harry replied with a smirk.
