Waves of Fury

A/N: Thanks to all the reviews! I appreciate every single one, especially to the one by DrCyrusBortel. Also, I don't have any much of an idea how Viking weddings were held. I only got ideas from Hiccstrid's wedding in THW so don't get too much on a tissy fit if I'm not realistic and I try my best in keeping Hiccstrid in character, sort of.

A year has passed since Hiccup proposed to Astrid onboard the Stormfly and now marks the day they'd tie the knot. Traditionally at their age, Berkians were already married and have at least one child together; that wasn't the case for these two and they often bend these rules just because no one actually enforces these traditions anymore in the late 80s. The couple had to repatriate to their home Navy a few months prior to prepare for their wedding and today is that day. At his house, Hiccup made some final adjustments on his suit. Being a naval tradition, the groom's suit is composed of an all-white attire with his rank displayed on the shoulder epaulets, his insignia and accolades on the left chest and a navy officer's hat. He was assisted by Snotlout and Fishlegs, who were his groomsmen and Tuff, who had the honor of being Hiccup's best man.

A few weeks ago, Tuff and Snotlout got into a debate on who would the navy captain ask as his best man after announcing the wedding date. It took a bit of bickering and a broken nose but Tuff won the deal, stating that he's already married. And indeed he was married to Camille "Cami" Felton, the daughter of a Royal Norwegian Air Force pilot, for 3 years.

"Alright Tuff, how do I look?" Hiccup presented himself to his friend.

Tuff, or Tuffnut as Berkians call him, stroked his 'beard' which was actually his long blonde hair braided in the middle, as he scrutinized the groom.

"Other than missing a beard, you're set." he commented. Hiccup rolled his eyes at Hookfang's second in command. It still baffles me as to how he gets so serious while on duty. He thought.

"Why didn't you pick a family member as your best man Hiccup?" Snotlout complained.

"Because Tuff won it off fairly, unless you want your nose to be smashed again?" Fishlegs retorted, prompting Hiccup and Tuff to chuckle.

"By the way, how's Ruff taking in the idea of wearing a dress today?" the auburn haired captain turned to Tuff.

"Took a lot of persuading, from Astrid mostly but I had it worse. I mean, she asked me if she could wear freaking jeans there!"

While the men continued to tell stories, in the Hofferson residence, Astrid's aunt Alicia was straightening up her niece's waist length hair while her maid of honor Ruff watched in delight. Like her twin brother did with Snotlout, she and Astrid's girl BFF Heather Flint fought tooth and nail to be her maid of honor. Fortunately for them, the latter still ended up as a bridesmaid and accepted it graciously unlike Hiccup's cousin.

"We got the best positions at the wedding! Thanks for choosing me as your maid of honor Astrid." Ruff smiled.

"Yeah that's no big. I know Tuff wouldn't do something stupid to Hiccup unlike his Snothat of a cousin." Astrid remarked, followed by a burst of laughter from everyone in the house.

Ruff nudged Heather, who was sitting beside her. "Now I kinda understand where you get those crappy nicknames." The jet black haired woman smiled sadly as her hair had just finished being fixed.

"What's the matter sis?" Astrid piped in.

"I'm just saddened that Dagur wouldn't come today. He kept babbling through his airmails that he wouldn't want to miss his brother's wedding for the world." Heather sighed. Her brother, the captain of the Berserker Dragonfly, was somewhere in the Persian Gulf again, most likely being escorted by Stormfly or another US warship.

Once Alicia had finished with Astrid's hair, the bride stood up from her seat and let her bridesmaids judge her look.

"Damn Ast. Hiccup's one lucky man to marry you!" Ruff commented, to which Heather nodded in agreement.

"Well, she did glow up ever since she and Hiccup got together." Astrid's aunt added. The blonde bride blushed at this compliment as she's only used to Hiccup or Heather complimenting her looks.

The venue selected was a cliffside platform overlooking the port, a prime spot for outdoor weddings. Initially, it was to be held aboard Stormfly's helicopter deck however she's called to action in the Gulf again with a new, all-American crew as the war nearly ended. And since the weather was sunny with some light clouds, guests don't have to worry about getting rain-soaked. The event was expecting almost 400 guests, a third of which are sailors from both the Royal Berkian Navy and the US Navy outpost in Bahrain.

Berkians have a different way of officiating and holding marriages but since Hiccup and Astrid had a slight glimpse on how Americans do weddings, they decided to combine their traditions with a Western twist coupled with a hint of Naval marriage traditions. The venue itself was decorated with flowers from the seats to the aisle and the flower arch entrance; two Viking statues stand proud in between the altar, to be presided by the town's pastor; and just before the altar, a line of Navy officers would lift their swords to form another arch for the bride.

Hiccup waited nervously by the altar for his bride. Sensing his uneasiness, Tuff patted the auburn haired groom's shoulder for reassurance. Then a white car stopped by the entrance of the platform, marked by a flower arch and there Hiccup's world went into slow motion. It was Astrid, but she looked ten times prettier than when she's wearing the US Navy uniform. She's wearing an off-shoulder gown, with a light train flowing over her back. A crown of roses was atop her head, replacing the maidenhood headband she's used to wear and her long blonde hair was fully down and up to her left shoulder. Hiccup loved seeing her letting her hair down; she only did it when they're alone together. Her face was heavenly, Hiccup could tell that she only had minimal make-up, save for the bright red lipstick highlighting her soft lips. She walked down the aisle graciously, everyone glancing at her.

The preceding program passed uneventfully; the townsfolk were getting a bit impatient with the western style of preceding and wanted the couple to get married already. When it came time for the 'I do's', everyone was on their feet excited.

"Do you, Harvey Horrendous Haddock the third take Astrid as your beloved wife until one of you is called upon to Valhalla?" the pastor asked Hiccup. He heard sniggers from Tuff and the groomsmen at the mention of his real name but ignored them anyway.

"I do."

"Do you Astrid Freya Hofferson take Harvey as your beloved husband until one of you is called upon to Valhalla?"

"I do."

The pastor continued, "By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you two husband and wife. You may kiss."

Hiccup pulled his now wife close to him, his lips meeting hers. Everyone cheered for the newlyweds, especially Cdr. Gobber who acted as Hiccup's father figure. They first thanked everyone in the navy side, giving their salutes to the captain and lieutenant commander; the combined crews of Stormfly and Hookfang the first ones to congratulate the newlyweds.

The newlyweds were then escorted aboard the Hookfang's deck for the reception. The Berkians planned two receptions for the newlyweds: first was the navy hosted one then a second town-hosted one to be held the next day at Berk's town hall when they receive their wedding gifts. Just like how Astrid walked the aisle, the staircase leading up to the frigate was flanked by naval officers with swords atop, another naval tradition. From Tuff's toast to Fishlegs proposing to Heather, it was quite an eventful reception and the chefs aboard served the finest buffets rivaling that of those served on aircraft carriers.

After a long tiring day of feasting and drinking, Hiccup and Astrid Haddock were escorted to their new home for their honeymoon. It was near the old Haddock residence but Hiccup decided that his mom would live there. When the couple entered the masters bedroom, they engaged into a hot and horny make-out session. Astrid pinned Hiccup on the bed, her on top of him and glided her hands across his chest. Hiccup did the same, his hands around her waist as he started pulling off the zipper that held her dress in place. It didn't take long for their clothes to go missing and the whole bedroom filled with sounds of moaning, saying each other's names, and dirty talk as Hiccup and Astrid became one in flesh. Like any other newly wed woman, Astrid's first time hurt but she knew that would change once they continued doing that. Once that was done, they both reflected on the day's events and Hiccup shed some tears of joy while Astrid braided his hair.

"Why you crying babe?" Astrid wiped a tear off his cheek.

"I'm just….overwhelmed with everything today milady. I just wished Dad were still here to see us together and our future children." the navy captain sobbed. His father, former RBN pilot Capt. Scott "Stoick" Haddock died during Operation Linebacker II of the Vietnam War (just like Hiccup, he was drafted under the Allied Forces program); Hiccup was only 8 years old back then. During a bombing run over Hanoi, the B-52 bomber that Capt. Stoick had flown was shot down by a Vietnamese surface-to-air missile, disintegrating his bomber instantly. Since then his mother Valka had been the one taking care of him up until he joined the navy.

"Babe, we both know that your dad is watching us from Valhalla. Without a doubt he's proud of you, of us." his wife curled onto his legs. Now that they were married, Astrid didn't have to worry about Snotlout or the Thorston twins barging in to one of her snuggle moments with Hiccup. She only showed this soft, clingy side to Hiccup alone and he loved her for that.

"Mmm, I love how you cling your whole self to me. It's much more comforting this way."

"True. No more distractions, and no more Thorston antics." the blonde chuckled. Hiccup proceeded to attack his wife's plump face with kisses, much to the latter's delight. Her soft moans meant more than just mere words; after all, they're better at showing their love than saying I love yous.

Feeling content with everything that happened for the day, Astrid yawned. "Goodnight my captain, my babe. I love you."

"Goodnight milady. I love you too." Hiccup whispered, planting a kiss on her lips.

They might've been in love for 6 years already, but their real love story is just about to begin.
