Ally's Pov.
I thought Hayden was being overprotective and overreacting but no doubt I should have known he was right. A few days later I am walking home when Snotlout appears out of nowhere. He has never harassed me outside of school and I can tell he is getting desperate. With Hayden hanging around me he can't do anything. Hayden said he didn't really say anything to Snotlout but it seemed like he got the hint anyway.
"Hello there Ally."
He takes a step forward and although I want to run away and find Hayden I hold my ground. I will not let him scare me anymore
"Let's talk about how you have completely brainwashed Hayden."
"What are you talking about?"
"There is no way he just suddenly like you, what did you do!"
"Nothing."
He growls before taking another step forward, into my personal space. He tries to stand over me but I am just a fraction taller.
"Tell me before I give you a one-way ticket to ride the pain train."
I straighten my spine and look down into his eyes.
"You don't scare me."
His eyes flash with something dangerous and before he can punch I punch him, square in the jaw and just as a little piece of revenge knee him in the groin.
"I will not let you push me around anymore."
I step around his body that has crumpled to the ground and walk home. I am nervous and excited. Nervous that this will not be the end of this but excited because with Hayden's help things will get better and I will be able to defend myself.
When I get home I see Hayden sitting on the front step reading something on his phone. I smile and sit next to him bumping our shoulders. I am giddy and being this close to him makes me nervous for a different reason.
"I did it, Hayden. I defended myself."
He turns to look at me, turning his phone off and sitting aside. He is smiling but I see the concern in his eyes. He wants to know what happened and if I am hurt. He is so sweet.
"Snotlout thinks I brainwashed you and I punched him."
He slings his arm over my shoulders and draws me close. I put my head on his shoulder and lookup ay him. This close I can see the small flecks of blue in his forest-green eyes.
"I am proud of you."
He smiles and I find myself returning that smile.
"And I told you it was a good idea."
I laugh and we fall into our usual banter. This is what I have craved since I was young. A true friend and maybe something more.
