RAGE
Betrayal is like a python. It chokes out every emotion. Every emotion except for rage. Not anger. Rage. There is a distinct difference, and Azula felt it right now.
She stared at Ty Lee, dressed like a water peasant, daring to look directly at Azula.
"You ought to leave, before I smear the walls with your charred skin," snarled Princess Azula, glaring fiercely at her ex-girlfriend. "I told you more than once that this could never be mended."
Ty Lee rubbed her lips together. She knew she should leave. She knew she should not test Azula's patience. She knew she would never win the princess's heart back.
But something strange and powerful within her told her that she needed to try.
"Did you love me?" asked Ty Lee.
Azula paused and contemplated her answer. Perhaps it would not hurt to be honest. Maybe it would make this traitorous Kyoshi Warrior give up.
"I thought I did," spat Azula. "I only thought I did."
Ty Lee hesitated and took one daring step closer to the princess.
"Then you loved me. 'Cause that's what love is: thoughts. Love is just thoughts, Azula."
The princess looked away.
She could not bear to let this conversation continue.
