CLARITY

Ty Lee struggled to confront Azula. She meant to for so long but it terrified her too much. Every time she tried to open her mouth to say something, she closed it again out of fear.

But today, she knew she had to summon all of her bravery and do it.

She touched Azula's arm and softly stammered out, "I don't want… I don't like… I know it's wrong to tell you to do things but I think you need to stop with the day drinking."

Azula snapped her head up. Her glare could frighten away a dragon, but Ty Lee somehow stood her ground.

"You are in no position to demand I do anything or change anything. Accept me as I am or return to Kyoshi Island. I don't care," said Azula, although she believed so little of what she said that she almost choked on every single word.

Ty Lee took a deep, nervous breath as she reached out and touched Azula's face with a trembling hand.

"I'm not demanding anything. I love you. I'm afraid you're going down that path again and I can't handle it. I can't survive your destruction again," whispered Ty Lee.

And for a fleeting moment, Azula felt a clarity that made her stomach churn.

"I will think about it."

Ty Lee softly kissed her.
