A/N: So here's a songfic based on When You Look Me in the Eyes by Jonas Brothers, something to celebrate my birthday! Same AU as Girl Talk but set 3 years after, meaning Hiccstrid – 40y/o and Zephyr – 18y/o.

After being asked out to a dance, Zephyr's emotions get conflicted and asks her mother for advice on how she handled it with her dad. Zephyr x OC and background Hiccstrid.

Zephyr was nervous. The midsummer festival is only a week away and she just got asked out to the dance by Sven Jorgenson, son of Snotlout and Frieda Jorgenson, and her best friend. Sven is a big man, standing at 6'2", he's as tall as his chief and possesses the same body build as him. His hair is black, inheriting from his father and had his blue eyes as well. Despite his fearsome appearance, he's very friendly and has a habit of flirting with other girls. However, Zephyr is the only teen that Sven hasn't tried to flirt yet, mainly because of her sword and dagger skills can easily chop one of his limbs. Even asking her out to the dance made him freeze in his tracks, but Zephyr knows that he wouldn't do anything stupid with her.

Returning to her home after a long day of training, she was greeted by the sight of her parents making out in their sitting room; Astrid straddling Hiccup's lap, while the chief kissed her neck. Thankfully, they were fully clothed, so it wasn't that awkward.

"Oh my Thor." she gasped. At the sound of their daughter's voice, Hiccup pulled out and Astrid got off his lap.

"H…hey darling!" the chief stuttered, "How's training?"

Zephyr rolled her eyes, "Well enough considering. I'm gonna pretend I didn't see that." With that, she headed upstairs to change into home clothes.

Once she was out of earshot, Hiccup remarked. "Hmm, I still can't believe Zeph didn't gag when she caught us honey."

"She is 18, babe. I'm pretty sure she knows a thing or three about kissing." Astrid added.

At the mention of kissing, Hiccup's eyes went wide; he began overthinking if his princess had a secret boyfriend that she has yet to spill out. His wife noticed the sudden change in his expression and pecked his cheek in reassurance.

"Relax Hiccup, I'm sure she's not yet ready for that kind of stuff." Astrid said sincerely. "Besides, it took you over 3 years after I first kissed you when you got the nerves to kiss me back." she teased.

"I suppose she got the shyness to confess from me." Hiccup shrugged.

"But I love you for it, coz it made you, well, you!"

"I'll take that as a compliment milady."

"Besides, if she ever thought of having a boyfriend, she has to go through me first." Astrid continued as she set the table for dinner before calling their children.

Once the family finished dinner, Zephyr was pacing up and down her brother's room, asking him for advice on dealing with stage fright. It's her first time being presented in front of the whole village and she doesn't know what to wear or act like a chief's daughter.

"Come on big sis, it's just a dance. Nothing to get into a tizzy fit." Nuffink started.

"But I'm of age now Nuffink." Zephyr retorted, "And it doesn't help that I have to be introduced to the whole of New Berk being the chief's firstborn and all."

"Yeah, but since when did Dad followed traditions?"

"Never, well except during Snoggletog when he makes a speech, but that's just to appease the elders."

"Exactly. So you have nothing to be worried about, unless you have a date with you." her brother continued. Zephyr's cheeks went red at the mention of having a date; does she consider Sven her date?

"Well...Sven asked me out if we can go out as friends, and I said yes." she squeaked. Nuffink's eyes widened at the mention of her sister's best friend's name.

"Oh boy, you gotta talk to Mom about that."

"Talk to me about what?" a voice echoed, it was Astrid standing by the doorway. Zephyr glared at her younger brother for not keeping the door locked as her eyes traveled from Nuff to her mother.

"N...nothing." she lied.

"Zephie wanna talk to you if you approve of Sven as her date." Nuffink interjected, earning him an elbow to the chest. "What?!"

"I'll take it from here Nuff." his mother waved her hand and ushered Zephyr towards the balcony. Once the two women made it there, Astrid noticed the tenseness in Zephyr's body language, a telltale sign that she wants to admit something to her but is too shy to do so.

"Mom, is it bad that Sven out of all boys asked me out?" Zephyr looked at her mother. Astrid shook her head.

"Of course not!" she replied, "Sven's a good kid and I'm glad you said yes to someone you knew a lot."

"But didn't Gobber say something that when you're 18, it's a Viking's coming of age to get married?" Astrid chuckled.

"That is true, but that doesn't apply here anymore. I mean, look at your dad and I, we were betrothed at 19 but didn't marry until 2 years later." she explained, pertaining to her and Hiccup's love story. Although Zephyr is quite bored at hearing her parents' story again, it proved to be somewhat of a guide in finding her own romantic relationship.

"Which reminds me Mom" she riposted, "How did you know Dad was the one true love for you?"

"I was 15 when I started falling for him, darling." Astrid smiled. "At first, we didn't know what that feeling was, me kissing your dad before we began dating. But all I know is that I wouldn't give him up for any other boy in Old Berk."

"During our time on the Edge, after our little lover's spat, I told him I was silly for acting like I wanted attention. Then he looked me in the eyes, and told me that he loved me. That's when I found my paradise, staring at your dad's green eyes, I feel safe, protected, and loved, even to this day." she continued. Zephyr remained silent.

"Do you feel something different when you're with him?" Her auburn haired daughter nodded.

"Then you need to wait if he feels the same way for you, but I not doubting that he does."

The next few days were a busy time for everyone in the tribe as they double timed to decorate the new Great Hall (where Hiccup and Astrid got married) for the festivities. The women were usually out on decorating and cooking duty, while the men set up the tables for the grand feast, as well as the dance floor for the dances. When it came time for the midsummer festival, everyone had gathered in the Hall, wearing their best outfits. The Haddocks were dressed fit for a chief's family as they sat on the table facing everyone else. After the usual speech from Hiccup and the dinner, a band started to play the first song for the night, with Tuffnut as the singer.

"This is the first for the night, so find your dates and dance your hearts out!" he announced.

The music started to play, everyone scrambled to pair up with their dates, be it their girlfriend or wife. Hiccup stood from his chair and asked his wife to dance, to which Astrid lovingly complied. Nuffink also got out to ask Ashley out, leaving Zephyr alone. She didn't have to wait long when a tall man wearing a fur cloak came to her.

"May I have this dance, Zephie?" Sven extended his arm, asking Zephyr's hand. She held her best friend's hand as he led them to an empty space where they'd be out of their parents' line of sight as they swayed to the music. Holding out one hand, Sven latched his other hand around Zephyr's waist; she placed her hand on his chest.

They stayed silent for the first few moments of the song, swaying mindlessly to the rhythm. Despite them denying that they don't dance, this proved it otherwise.

"Can I ask you something?" Sven asked nervously. Zephyr tensed at hearing this and her cheeks flushed red.

"S..sure." she gulped. The tall teenager looked down at his best friend, her blue eyes meeting his own.

"Do you believe in best friends ending up falling for each other?"

"I...I'm not sure. But I've heard of stories of that happening." she smiled back, eyes still fixated with her partner's.

The couple continued to sway along the music and hummed along the lyrics.

"Zephyr?"

"Yes Sven?"

How long will I be waiting
To be with you again?

Instead of flat out admitting his feelings, the teen Jorgenson sang this line. "I'm gonna tell you that I love you, in the best way that I can."

Zephyr's insides warmed at the way he sang that to her, it was soft, sweet, and straight from the heart. She wrapped her arms around Sven's neck, pulling herself closer to his body. Now it's her turn to sing her heart out.

"I can't take a day without you here,"

"You're the light that makes my darkness disappear."

Sven twirled Zephyr around, her back now pressed against his chest as they sang together.

The auburn haired teen turned around, facing her best friend once again. While other couples returned to their tables, they remained dancing, not caring whether they were the only ones still at the dance floor. It's as if they were in their own world, shutting out everything in the background.

"More and more I start to realize,"

"I can reach my tomorrow,"

"I can hold my head up high,"

"And it's all because you're by my side."

They slowed down to the rhythm, Sven leans his forehead against Zephyr's, gazing at her lovingly; their lips are a mere inch apart.

Zephyr crashed her lips against the teen Jorgenson's, who promptly kissed her back. His hands ran from her hair down to the silk of her dress before landing on her waist. She pulled him closer, running her hands in his messy raven hair.

At another side of the dance floor, Hiccup and Astrid were slow-dancing when the auburn haired chief caught sight of Sven and Zephyr kissing. His breathing heaved, as if he was about to charge on the young Jorgenson for ruining his daughter's purity. Astrid saw this as well and before Hiccup could say anything, she brushed her lips against his. When they pulled out, Hiccup looked at his wife with worrying eyes.

"Honey, look at me, it's okay. She loves him the way I loved you." Astrid reassured, cupping his cheek with her left hand. Her husband sighed and placed a kiss on her hand.

"It's just...sad to see my little princess all grown up."

"You sound like my dad when we first started dating." his wife chuckled, "But I don't blame you for being overprotective."

"I love her Astrid. That's what fathers do."

As the song waned down to its outro, Hiccup pulled Astrid closer and they shared another loving kiss. They left the dance floor, leaving only Sven and Zephyr in the middle, still kissing and their arms wrapped around each other. Everyone gave a round of applause for the newly formed couple. Their respective parents looked at them with pride, as their kids found love right then and there.
