*It had been two days since the Pain attack on Konoha. Obviously the whole village was basically razed to ashes,so even with Yamato around...not a lot of people had homes at this point. Naruto, being the "hero" of the attack, had a place of his own, but he couldn't sleep well alone, so Kakashi, Sakura, and Sai were staying with him for awhile, since they didn't have anywhere to go either. *
Sakura's POV
I woke up with a jolt, again, for the second time tonight. I was wearing earplugs, cause the first night was pretty rough, also. But even still, Naruto's screams invaded my sleep once again. I was usually the only one who actually woke up, since Naruto had his own room...he couldn't help the nightmares, to be fair.
This time, however, Kakashi-sensei was leaning against the wall with a devastated look on his face. He grabbed a towel that was lying carelessly on the floor. "Sakura, we should go to him. He shouldn't be alone right now. You of all people know what he saw that day."
I nodded, and grabbed a cloth that was nearby. Kakashi and I quietly snuck out of the room, as to not wake Sai, and headed toward Naruto's room.
Naruto's POV
Ugh, I'm covered in sweat again...and shaking...is it cold in here? Why am I crying? And then it came back to me...the image of Hinata, crawling toward me, bleeding from the head, suffering to save me because she had taken up my ninja way. I put my head in my hands and sobbed as quietly as I could. "Hinata...why?" I murmured to myself. "Why? Just...why?"
I heard a creak at my door, and looked up to see Sakura and Kakashi-sensei quietly coming into my room. To check on me? Did I...wake them?
Sakura's POV
It was worse than I thought. Naruto's eyes were puffy from tears, and his face was wet, from both tears and sweat. His pajamas were stuck to his skin, soaked in sweat...and he was shaking.
"Oh, Naruto.." I said softly. I silently handed him the cloth to wipe off his face.
Kakashi looked at him kindly and said "Hey, Naruto, take off your shirt...it's drenched." Naruto looked down at his chest. "Oh, sure..." he said listlessly. He tossed his shirt into a corner of the room, and accepted the towel Kakashi handed him, to dry off some.
"Ungh...I don't feel so well..." he said suddenly. "Excuse me." He rushed off toward the bathroom. We couldn't help but overhear the sounds of him being sick, it was silent in the house, of course.
Naruto's POV
I walked back toward my bed. My stomach hurt so much...I couldn't eat anything at all. I couldn't get Hinata's broken and battered body out of my mind...I know she survived...I know she is okay, but it feels...I know I saw her die that day. In my dreams, she dies...everytime.
"Sakura, Kakashi-sensei. Did I...wake you up?"
Sakura smiled sadly at me. "You were screaming in your sleep, Naruto. It's okay. We understand."
My face felt wet. I guess I was still crying? Or crying again? Will I ever stop?
Sakura sat beside me, and offered me her shoulder. I sat beside her, and let her rub my back. The three of us just sat there for awhile.
Kakashi's POV
Oh, Naruto. Minato-sensei and I had hoped there would never be another war for you to face. Watching Naruto suffer was hard to take. I remembered how it felt...to watch my friends die. Obviously Hinata didn't die, but Naruto had seen many friends put their lives on the line for him, over and over, within a short period of time.
Pain wouldn't have come to Konoha if we hadn't had a Jinchuuriki. At least, not right away. And on top of that, he'd learned that his father was the Fourth Hokage...the man who had sealed the Nine Tails within him...killing himself to save the village.
Only time would heal the wounds Naruto had been inflicted with. But, time wasn't something we had.
