Lila walked back over to Marinette. "He likes someone else," She said.
"I know… Do you know who?"
"I do, but he said not to tell anyone,"
"Okay…"
Over the next few days, Lila started to feel a connection to Marinette. Not like a crush, more like a very good friend. She no longer wanted to hurt her.
"You know," she said to Gabriel, "I don't think Marinette's that bad anymore."
"Nonsense," he said, "When she finds out you're lying, she'll go back to how she was before. I want to continue with our plan."
Lila thought for a moment. She thought about the good times they've been having the last few days. She didn't want it to end. But she didn't want to lose Gabriel's loyalty either. "Okay, but I still need to gain more trust," she said.
"Good," he said. He drove off.
A few days later, Lila thought she gained enough trust. She decided to go through with her plan in three days. That means three more days of fun with Marinette. Three more days of going to her house after school every day. Three more days of having thoes delicious macaroons and croissants. She was going to miss all of it.
That night, she layed in her bed, remembering all of the good times they had together. Knowing that it would all end soon. She started crying. It began silent. She thought about it even more. Then came the sniffing. She thought about all the memories. By this time, she was crying like an average person.
Her love. Her trust. She was going to lose it all. She started sobbing. She sobbed more than she'd ever sobbed before. It was so loud.
"Lila?" Her mom came in and said.
"MOOOOOOOOOOOOM!" She sobbed.
"What is it, honey?"
"I'M GOING TO LOSE A FREEEEEEEEEEEEEIIIIIIIIIIIIIND!"
"Oh, honey… It's not about how many friends you have, it's about how many are true friends."
Lila wiped away some tears. "But it is a true friend…"
"If you're going to lose the friendship, I don't think it's true," she said. Lila accepted the hug her mom offered. "I will always be here for you."
Lila pushed her mom away. "No, you won't! You're always too busy with work for me!"
