A short one for you all

It had been five years since their saviour had disappeared but Magical Britain was once again a thriving society. Arthur Weasley had ushered Britain into a new era of peace and prosperity and he was widely believed to be the best Minister of Magic for over a hundred years. Arthur had mended many of the burnt bridges between magical 'creatures' and witches and wizards, by firstly eliminating many from being known as, creatures. Centaurs, Goblins, House Elves and many more were now known as magical citizens and enjoyed much more freedom than they had had for a long time. House Elves were still bonded to Masters, as they would die without it, but new laws had been introduced to stop the ill treatment of them. Any witch or wizard who was found to be forcing a House Elf to hurt themselves or perform degrading and dangerous tasks could be fined or even jailed if the crime was harsh enough. The Forbidden Forest had its name changed to Polaris Forest, chosen by the Centaurs who believed that the North Star was leading them into a new age, it was now a place where the rights of the citizens living in their were honoured and respected.

It had taken some time but people had gotten used to living without the threat of Voldermort hanging over their heads, or the blood-purists spouting their propaganda from every level. Reforms were introduced to the ministry to ensure that openness and due diligence was ensured, Arthur had seen the many faults of the ministry during his years and had worked tirelessly to turn it back into a beacon of truth and morality, rather than a cesspool of corruption it had been under Fudge. Blood Purity had become a thing of the past, at least in the public eye, with words like 'mudblood' being outlawed and those caught using heavily fined.

All in all the citizens of Magical Britain were the happiest they had been in an age. Even the older generation couldn't remember a time when things had been this good and Augusta Longbottom, the new Chief Witch of the wizengamot, had grown more relaxed and was even known to now crack a smile here and there. Augusta had many reasons to be in a more congenial mood these days as her hero grandson had married the only female member of the golden trio. Their relationship had blossomed since Hermione had visited Harry all those Christmas ago. The two misfits in school had found a deep connection and understanding with each other. Neville absolutely loved Hermione's brain and had confessed that he had always had a huge crush on her. He had originally wanted to ask her to the Yule ball in the fourth year but Ron had talked, or bullied rather, him out of it. The more time Hermione had spent with Neville she had realised just how smart, caring and generous a man he was. The year under the Carrows had changed him dramatically as he finally shed all insecurities and doubts about his ability. The two often engaged in deep philosophical discussions and debated laws of magic. Neville had continued his love of Herbology and was currently studying a Mastery in the subject under Madame Sprout. Hermione had entered the Ministry as she had always planned and was working for the Department of Muggleborns. Despite her early reservations and criticisms of Wizarding society she had grown to love the many traditions the world held. It seemed that Neville had explained many of the worlds quirks in a far better manner than Ron ever had. Afterall she was now Lady Longbottom, Neville had accepted his title as Lord on his 18th Birthday as the world was in too much turmoil during his 17th, and was treated according to her station. She worked diligently in her new job to help muggle born children transition into the Magical world and adopt the customs she had never been told about and had often criticised. Both loved their work and had a small but cosy house in Hogsmeade that they had made their home. Both wanted children but were waiting until Neville had his Mastery and Hermione had built a stable career. The two often thought about Harry but as many friends do after school had moved on with their lives. Their relationships, their jobs and their friends took up most of their time. Besides, with Harry putting in zero effort into the friendship Neville had helped Hermione realise she couldn't spend all her time on a one sided friendship. It had taken some time but she had come to accept that Harry didn't want to be apart of their world anymore and she had to just move on.

Many others had also been able to find peace and happiness again after the war ended. George, despite missing his brother everyday, had married Angelina Johnson only 2 years after the final battle and had a baby girl. The joke shop was still going strong and George and Angelina ran it together as a couple. Their little three year old running around the store playing with all the many toys, she was truly her father, and uncles, daughter. Ginny's dream of being a Quidditch star had changed after the war and had found her calling working as an elite group of Hit Wizards. Arthur had set up the group to be a specialised task force to root out any pureblood supremacist ideas that propped up and prevent any further terrorist activities from starting. Ginny had gone through the Auror Corps training and had shown immense skill, quickly being chosen for the squad. She had recently formed a new relationship with the son of the French Minister's son whom she had met during a government function that her father had asked her to come along. Fleur continued to work for Gringotts while Bill sat as proxy in the Wizengamot for House Potter. He had been a useful ally for his father and had become a supremely talented politician himself. They had two beautiful daughters who took right after their mothers. Molly had never been prouder of her family, despite Ron's licentious behaviour she had never been more content. She did miss the green eyed boy that had become another son to her, but she too in time had moved on from expecting anything from the lad and was far too preoccupied with being a grandmother and the Minister's wife.

Harry had not been totally forgotten during this time. A statue of the young man had been built and placed in the centre of Hogsmeade. It was understated and showed a 17 year old Harry standing still, his arms clasped in front with his wand held pointing down. His head held high and the scar and glasses prominent, along with his trademark messy black hair. It had been erected on the first anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts in honour of the boy-who-lived who had not been able to make it to the ceremony. Strange whispers grew about the legend of Harry Potter and many began to believe that he wasn't a real reason at all, but an ancient spirit that had been sent to look after Magical Britain. Of course those who knew him knew better, but many had never met Harry Potter and his legend grew. Always remembered, always honoured and even thanked in prayers, Harry Potter was still held dear in many of the hearts of the magical population.

Other noted events were Daphne Greengrass marrying Blaise Zabini due to a marriage contract that had been drawn up by Blaise's mum many years ago. Susan Bones and Hannah Abbott were engaged and had adopted a young muggleborn boy who had been abandoned to an orphanage. Susan, after the loss of her own parents, was determined to care for this young boy, who at 5 had been called a freak and abandoned. Lavender had found love in the arms of a noble lavish Italian Wizard who doted on her and she provided him with two children. While many other classmates remained single and were enjoying their new found freedom.

Of course every period of peace and prosperity cannot be without scandal. This one came in the form of an unplanned pregnancy to the only other member of the golden trio still in the public eye. Ron's philandering ways had finally caught up with him when Romilda Vane of all people turned up pregnant with his child. He had been quite put out when he heard the news and denied heavily that the baby was his. He didn't even remember the drunken sex they had had in Tuscany. After a magical DNA test was done, it was found to be indeed his child and Ron had done the honourable thing in magical society and married her. It was almost unheard of to have a child out of wedlock in magical society and Ron couldn't allow his child to be treated as a bastard without a title and chance of being respected by the society. While the blood purity bigotry had died down, there were still many proud magical traditions that were upheld in society.

International relationships had never been better between Britain and surrounding magical nations. Arthur and Jaques Rouvroy, the new French Minister of Magic, had become fast friends at their first meeting and now Magical France and Magical Britain were closer than ever. Arthur was determined to show that Britain was a strong and united country once again and had set about restoring long lost alliances and relationships between Magical Nations around the world. Firstly he had reached out to MACUSA and showed that Britain was now once again a strong Magical community that could be trusted on the world stage. After some back and forth MACUSA had entered into a more formal alliance with Britain, just as their muggle counterparts had. Other countries in Europe like Bulgaria, Switzerland, Belgium, Spain, Greece and Turkey had too welcomed Arthur's overtures. Many nations in Africa and Asia had also warmed to Arthur as Minister including Thailand, India, Japan, Egypt, Algeria, Kenya and many more. Arthur had also managed to gain international acclaim as one of the first to allow displaced citizens of magical Afghanistan asylum after a war had broken out between the muggles. Their government had been destroyed and many had been forced to flee to their neighbouring countries. Arthur reached out a hand of friendship and helped relocate magical citizens either to Britain or other European countries that were willing to have them. The recent muggle war that had now spread to Iraq concerned the Minister who again began offering aid to the Magical citizens found in that area. Arthur had truly transformed from the shy, bumbling, lowly ministry employee to a powerful and well respected world leader.

A brief interlude to catch up on the rest of the world before we plunge back into the story. Hope you enjoy!
