AN: Aww, this is kind of cute, too. Why didn't I post this before?! It's just a little Kataang fluff. Here you go!

It was raining.

Pouring, actually. Coming down in sheets- no, blankets- and the wind was howling. And yet, the Avatar stayed outside.

You would think that this would be because he had some important Avatar business to take care of, and it required him to be outdoors, but that wasn't it. Actually, all Aang felt like doing was sitting in the rain.

He knew that he was just begging the spirits for a cold, but he didn't see it as that. Rain was water, and water could be bended by a waterbender- which was what he was doing. Waterbending always made him think of his wife back home, made him feel slightly less homesick when he had to go away on long journeys like this one.

Indoors, a couple watched him through the window, a silhouette bending in the downpour. "A waterbender," one of them muttered. "I wonder who he is?"

"A crazy waterbender," his wife said. "Who would be outside in this storm except for a crazy person?"

The man just shook his head.

Aang did not stop waterbending for two hours.

By then he was too tired to continue anyway, having been outside for a longer amount of time than he knew, and so he escaped to a familiar cave- one where he, Katara, and Sokka had stayed long ago- and collapsed on the ground next to Appa, falling asleep instantly.

In the morning, the storm was over. Aang decided to pay a visit to the market for some food to take on the rest of his journey, as he was supposed to take a tiny detour into Ba Sing Se before finally heading back to the watertribe. This detour would only take a week or two, and then he could finally go home. His heart was aching; he had already been gone for a month, and he didn't want to extend his time away.

He threw on a hood and a headband(fangirls in this town could be murder) and went out to the marketplace, basket in hand, wondering if they might have anything that would interest Katara. The vendors in the market were kind- and one of them did have a beautiful blue hair clip, one that matched his wife's eyes perfectly- but they were also gossips.

"Did you see that waterbender out in the rain yesterday?" one asked him. "I haven't seen a waterbender in this area since the Avatar and his girl passed through, years ago!"

Aang grinned at the word choice of the vendor. "No, I didn't see any waterbenders," he said. "I just got here."

"Well, a couple down the street saw him, and they said he was amazing!"

Aang only shrugged. "Maybe he'll come around here today," he said, before moving to another vendor for fruit.

This vendor had more gossip. "Did you hear that Firelady Mai is having a baby?"

Aang had, in fact, heard this news. Zuko had been to visit before he left, and he had already been told. "No," he answered. "and I wish Firelord Zuko the best of luck. Between trying to reform his entire country and raising a child, he will be rather busy. It is very lucky that he has both Firelady Mai and GranFirelady Ursa to help him."

"Lucky indeed," said the exasporated vendor.

But the last vendor- the one which sold him vegetables- gave him news he had not yet heard. Very, very startling news.

"Did you hear, sir? The Avatar's wife is pregnant!"

Aang nearly dropped his basket.

"What?" he exclaimed. "Who-who told you that?"

"Oh, the news has quickly traveled," the vendor said happily. "A diplomat from our little town visited the watertribe last week, and returned yesterday with the news! She's getting big, or so he said."

Aang stared at him. "She's- she's- she's going to have a baby? You're sure? Comepletely sure? She didn't just randomly gain weight and everyone just thinks she's pregnant?"

The vendor gave him a funny look. "I'm sure," he said. "The diplomat said she was about... Say... Four months along?"

Aang's jaw dropped. "Four months? Would... Would she have known, you know... About two months before that?"

"Ah, no, and that's the problem! Her husband left about two months ago for some Avatar thing, and no one has been able to reach him to tell him!"

"How... How big is she?"

"Bigger than she should be, for four months. The diplomat said that her family believes that either she's having twins, or she's having an elephant seal," the vendor joked.

The Avatar sank to the ground. "Twins," he said under his breath. Then he jumped back up again. "So, the Avatar's going to be a father?"

"Yes, I would assume so," the vendor said. "You look rather happy, young man. Do you know them personally?"

Aang was grinning from ear to ear. In seconds, he airbended his cover away, and everyone was staring at him. "I'm going to be a father!" he cried happily. "Me, a father! Ha!"

The vendor stared at him in shock. "You-you're the avatar?"

"Yes, I am," Aang said proudly. "And I'm going to be a father as well! Me!"

He twirled on the spot. A few people cheered, saying "Yeah, Avatar!" "Congradulations, Avatar Aang!" "Did you just now figure that out?"

Aang tossed some money at the vendor. "I've got to get home," he cried. "Ba Sing Se can wait!"

"That's the spirit, Avatar!" cried the vendor, trying to gather the ridiculous amount of money he had been thrown as Aang practically flew away, back to the cave where Appa was staying.

He surprised the flying bison with a huge hug. "We're going home, buddy!" he exclaimed. Appa roared in approval as Aang quickly packed and "Yip-Yip"ed out of there.

Back in the Southern Watertribe, Katara was taking a walk.

"Only a few more weeks," she said to herself. "Then he'll be home."

Sokka came toward her, Suki trailing behind with their son Suluk. "Come inside, Katara," he said. "Suki says she's going to make tea."

Katara did not move, but instead stared silently out at the icy tundra, contemplating over when her husband might come home. But Aang would be home sooner than she thought, as she quickly found out when she heard his voice call her from far away.

"KATARA!"

She turned around. There was Appa, flying, and Aang, standing on him and waving frantically. Her smile was huge as she ran towards him, and he took his glider and flew towards her, and the two of them embraced as though they had not seen each other for years, before Aang pulled away with a huge grin. "I heard while I was away," he said, gesturing to her pregnant belly.

Katara grinned. "We're going to be parents," she confirmed happily. "I didn't know it before you left, but after that I got really big, really fast."

"So, it wasn't some weird bloating after all? Are you really having twins?"

"We think that if it's not twins, it's a baby elephant seal," Sokka declared as he and Suki ran up to them.

Aang laughed. "So I've heard," he said happily, twirling Katara in the air and giving her another hug. "I've missed you," he said.

"So have I," Katara agreed. "But you're with me now, and that's all that matters."

And they took each other's hands and turned to face the unknown future with grins and glee.

The End.
