The ground split as a slash of the Excalibur Destruction was redirected at the earth beneath them. "Xenovia you stupid bitch!" Atlas yelled. "I am giving my best to help and you try to bury me alive?"
"Yuuto! Let's attack him from the sides!" Issei yelled as he ran at Freed from the left and his peerage mate from the right.
"Irina, Lint, Xenovia! Make room!" Atlas yelled while the book in his hands flipped the pages on its own again. "I have compared thee, O my love, to a steed in Pharaoh's chariots." He spoke out in Hebrew with blood starting to drip out of his nose and blue veins starting to form on his hands.
A giant golden magical circle formed itself in front of Atlas, summoning dozens of golden Egyptian chariots that were led by men with dog heads. All of them went at full speed towards the direction of the fight only for Freed to disappear in the horde of horses and wagons. "I can't withstand more! We need to leave!" Atlas yelled at the five teens in front of him, who were determined to stay.
"Then leave, we don't need your help in defeating him." Yuuto answered while Issei looked at the dust wall where a figure came out unharmed.
"We might need it a bit." Lint exclaimed only to look back and see him leaving. "We need your help! Come back!"
"Too late. Thank bloody over there. I might tell Rias where you are, but first I have to heal my wounds, and then I have to eat. She will definitely be here by the time you are dead. Promised." He explained sternly while leaving them alone.
"Great!" Xenovia yelled while looking at Yuuto. "Idiot.
"For their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed blood." Someone yelled from behind Freed only for a magical circle to appear behind him and shoot him away. "Let's go, this won't do much to him, or you five either." Atlas explained only for Yuuto and Xenovia to follow the path of Freed.
"Yuuto!/Xenovia!" Issei and Irina yelled in Union.
"Forget them..." Lint whispered only to walk over to Atlas. "We need to leave."
The two remaining devils and the silver-haired exorcist just looked at Irina who nodded and then ran into an entirely different direction. "What is she doing!?" Issei asked.
"She has an Excalibur. She will try and get him away from us, considering that Harry Potter over there has a broken arm." Lint exclaimed while looking at Atlas who was gone. "Really?"
"What is wrong with them?" Issei asked as he and Lint ran away from the church before something could happen.
Atlas reappeared in his new home, ignoring all the staring from the peerage sitting there. He threw book after book out of the shelve before he heard a cough and turned around. "Need this?" Atlas just sighed after seeing Sona standing there with a golden book in her hand. The book looked like it was made for the richest Christian in existence.
Golden pages and a golden metal frame, a silver cross on the cover, and 'Revelation' written with jewels right above the sign of the church.
"Oh lord thanks." Atlas exclaimed while reaching out with his hand only to flinch a bit. Sona put the book on the table while Tsubaki caught Atlas' arm while he clenched his teeth. "What are you doing for fucks sake?
"Why is your arm broken? You need healing!" She ordered while he pulled back his hand.
"Yeah, that can wait, I need my book. Give it to me or you can continue to watch me using my magic and slowly killing myself." Sona just bit her lip and handed him the book.
Atlas opened it and put a few strains of dark blond hair inside it. He closed it again and watched how the edges of the golden pages glowed up while the book shrank in thickness. The book opened itself and went through all the pages until it stopped near the end. "She is fighting Freed, alone."
"Who is fighting who?" Sona exclaimed before Raynare looked at the book and then to Sona.
"Freed is a stray exorcist with three Excalibur swords. If we don't help Irina he will have four and a rape victim." The former fallen angel answered with a tint of concern. "Just for the record. I am concerned because he has swords, the girl is not my fucking problem."
"How could I forget that?" Atlas answered sarcastically. "Sona, it's time for payment."
"Wait, her?" Sona asked instantly while everyone looked confused. "Fine, the two of us will go. The others stay." She said as she saw Atlas nod. "At least someone who might know how to follow orders and to respect their leaders."
"Blah blah blah. You talk too much." Atlas said as she opened the door only for him to grab her hand and to turn into a glitching transparent being before completely disappearing.
"So that's how it feels? Kind of not what I expected." Sona exclaimed as Atlas let go of her.
"She should be somewhere here," Atlas said as he picked up one of his metal cards from the ground. "She lost it. Shit."
"How did you get one of these sharp things onto her leather outfit?" Sona asked before she looked at Atla's grin. "Wait, don't answer that."
Both devils just followed a few voices they heard and ran through the forest only to see that both exorcist ended the fight already.
"You shouldn't resist, dear exorcist," Freed whispered slowly while pressing Irina against a tree while cutting through her clothes, letting her chest hang out naked.
"You have the Excalibur Mimic. Leave me already!" Irina yelled furiously.
"You heard her, let her go and leave," Sona exclaimed as she held two blue magic spells in her hand ready to attack Freed.
Irina was about to push him away only for a steel card to fly directly between them cutting both their wrists.
Sona just stood there with the card sticking in a tree right next to her.
Freed yelled up in agony and ran off while Irina screamed for a short moment before passing out.
"Now you have a new Pawn," Atlas smirked with a shaking hand.
"Your hand is broken, and you keep on throwing cards? Are you stupid or a complete idiot." Sona asked, angry.
"Futures keep changing. That's why we can't travel to it. Every small decision, every influence, and every abnormality could change the flow of time. The moment Issei joined them, the future changed and they came to my house. I gave Lint a note and they came to our new hideout. Yuuto appeared in the fight and her fate was sealed by being a rape victim. She would have been crippled and sent into a coma where her life would end." Atlas explained as he pulled out the book and put Irina's necklace into the book.
After a glow-up, the book grew in thickness and didn't stop until it reached a thickness of twice the size of Atlas empty Gutenberg Bible. "The moment I decided that she fits better into the peerage than Xenovia her future changed. Now resurrect her. I'll give her my coat and we can leave her here."
Sona just nodded and held her hand up to summon her last Pawn figures. Without hesitating, she started to speak out her order for the resurrection while Atlas waited.
The black-haired girl looked back at Atlas while he looked at the book. It shrank in size again while the boy nodded in understanding. "Can I have the figures?"
Sona just handed him the last two Pawns she had while the boy looked at their beauty. Before Sona could do something, Atlas slit open Irina's stomach and shoved his hand, alongside the figures inside where he crushed them into pieces. He pulled his blood-covered hand out again and held it above the heart of the girl. A blue circle hovered below it and before his king could stop him, he smacked it on Irina's chest, filling her body with electricity and demonic energy.
"What did you do?" Sona asked as she saw the girl's wound healing and two pairs of wings to come out of her back. The wings weren't black like theirs, but a dark and pure silver.
"Project afterlife. Momo had the brilliant idea to kill herself for a few seconds before I shot adrenaline into her heart. We continued on that experiment before Reya joined. It took us a week to find out that the maximum of time a person can be dead before actually dying is ten minutes. Her heart needed an entire jumpstart as well as her brain and her organs. She must have had some internal wounds that were killing her already." Sona just kneeled down next to Irina and opened the former exorcist eyes with her fingers.
"Post life trauma?" Sona asked as she saw no reaction from Irina but still feeling her pulse. "The afterlife was a magical place for her to not be able to connect reality and afterlife."
"How do you know all that?" Atlas asked while Sona looked at him questioning.
"Satan Belzeebub did this project decades ago. He published the experiment results in the main houses." She explained while Atlas just shook his head.
"I could have just asked you?" He looked at her with a sad smile. "I wasted an entire week."
"Just cover her with your coat and let's leave. This maniac will think that we took her so there is no reason for him to come back since he has her Excalibur." Sona explained while Atlas did as she said. "Why would the church send two of the Excaliburs to the man who steals them. A guy who can wield three of these words shouldn't have to worry about them."
"Yeah, whatever." Atlas stood up and put his hand on Sona's shoulder before throwing a card up and disappearing with her.
"We need to find Ace… er, Atlas." Issei exclaimed as he and Lint stopped at the end of the forest while looking around.
"And who is this 'Atlas'?" Rias' voice made Issei freeze on the spot.
"Oh, that's my real name. Xenovia found it out when she was reading through my stuff. I shouldn't sign books that only I was going to read." The Paimon mumbled to himself while Rias looked at him in shock.
"Rias, concentrate," Sona commanded while the red-haired girl shook her head and looked back at Issei. "There is a maniac collecting legendary holy swords and you are angry because Atlas used a fake name?"
"You are right. So what is going on here?" She asked while Issei looked at Lint.
The girl nodded and then looked at Rias. "Freed. He collects the holy swords. But he is way too stupid to actually be the one who is behind all that." She explained before seeing a blue and a red magic circle appear below them.
While Rias peerage stepped out of the red circle, Sona was greeted by her peerage coming out of the blue one. "Kokabiel." Raynare hissed. "That's all his work. He is one of the leaders of Grigori and the only one of them who actually wants war."
"Great." Everyone replied while the redhead looked around. "Where is Yuuto."
"Hopefully dead. Little bastard deserves it." Atlas said out loud.
"Just because he told you that no one needs you doesn't mean you can talk bad about him! He is our friend." Issei defended the blonde devil while Atlas snarled.
"Nope. Blonde is definitely more stupid then red. Congratulations Tomoe." The girl just smiled and high-fived herself. "And yes, I hope he is dead because of his comment. Maybe that will show him how much he needs me. But he won't get any help from me. If I see him pleading for his life, I will ignore it and leave to get myself a drink." He explained with a satisfied smile.
"Don't worry, he is lying. He would definitely help Yuuto." Tsubaki explained while Issei nodded in relief and turned around. Tsubaki just turned to Rias and shook her head. "No, he wouldn't." She whispered to the red-haired king.
They all just shared a moment of silence while thinking before they heard a voice and turned their heads to a tree. "Don't sin Irina and you won't fall, don't sin Irina and you won't fall." The girl said to herself while leaning against a tree. She had no idea of where she was or what she was doing but she was covering her naked chest and everyone saw a healed scar on her stomach with blood all over it.
"Irina!" Lint yelled before running to the girl and helping her. "Are you alright? What happened?" She asked before looking at the clock and then at Atlas, who just slightly shook his head towards her.
"He has the Excalibur Mimic. Can't sin, I won't fall." She said before Atlas walked to her and hit her neck, letting her pass out.
"Why did you do that?" Issei asked in slight anger.
"He did that because he is here." Raynare turned around and looked at the sky only to narrow her eyes and clench her teeth. "Kokabiel..."
