It was Christmas Day when Team Chaotix, Ice, Cream, and Cheese arrived at the Rabbit household. Cream was excited and wanted to open the door right away, but Vector gestured for her to wait and knocked at the door.
Vanilla answered the door. She opened her mouth to greet them, but then she saw Ice and was instantly stunned. Ice grinned at her, and she slowly approached him. She then chuckled and reached out her hand, caressing Ice's cheek.
"Nilla, it's me," he told her. "I can see you're as beautiful as ever."
Vanilla's hand then touched the stubble on Ice's chin. Ice laughed nervously, wondering if she didn't like it.
"Oh, don't worry," she responded. "I love you just the way you are."
She pulled him in, and they proceeded to kiss.
Cream said, "Aww!" Even Espio was smiling. Charmy was cringing in disgust and Cheese cooed. Though Vector knew Vanilla did not love him back, she was overjoyed now that she had been reunited with her husband, and that was enough to satisfy him.
"Merry Christmas, Vanilla," he whispered, smiling tearfully.
Later, the Rabbit family gathered around the Christmas tree. The fireplace kept them all snug and warm. The lights beamed brightly, and the baubles were very shiny. Cream was cuddling up with Ice. Cheese was curled up in Ice's lap. He petted their head and put his arm around Vanilla before pulling her closer.
"It's just like old times," Vanilla sighed.
"It'll stay this way, I promise," Ice reassured her. They both nuzzled their noses.
Ice took out the completed version of the family photo. It was all taped up. Though it was not in mint condition anymore, he was still happy, as he knew he would never be lonely again. He watched the snow fall outside the window as he thought about how grateful he was.
