A/N

You may have noticed that my posts are getting a bit less frequent. Work has got really busy recently, some days im clocking over 15 hours and just dont have time to write. But i'll update when i can!

Callie burst through the doors to New York Presbyterian, her hands resting on the reception desk as she tried to regain her breath.

"Hi" she attempted a smile at the receptionist, whilst half wincing at the sharp pain in her ribs "I need to speak with Dr Arizona Robbins. It's urgent"

"One moment please. Let me call paediatrics" the receptionist smiled back at her.

Turning away from the counter slightly to cover her mouth so that nobody could see what she was saying, the receptionist spoke quietly on the phone and then nodded. Placing the receiver back down, she turned back to Callie.

"I'm sorry, I'm afraid Dr Robbins is unavailable right now. Would you like to leave a message?"

"No, I really need to get hold of her. Erm" Callie racked her brains, desperately trying to recall the names of Arizona's friends "is Dr Pierce around? Or….Christina? Dr…erm…"

"Yang?" the receptionist suggested.

"Yes!" Callie exclaimed "Dr Yang. Is she available?"

"How about I page her for you?"

"Thank you" the brunette clasped her hands together.

"Take a seat in the waiting area and I'll send Dr Yang over as soon as she's free"

Callie turned and headed for the seats that the receptionist had indicated. She barely taken two steps before she came face to face with the one person she'd been hoping to avoid.

Carina.

"Well, I can't say I'm entirely surprised to see you here" the Italian smirked "been a few days since you heard from Arizona by any chance?"

"Do you know where she is?" Callie asked forcefully.

"I have no idea" Carina shrugged "but if I were you, I'd take the hint and just walk away before you get hurt. She might have spent the night whispering all kinds of things in your ear, but she was never going to stick around"

"You clearly don't know Arizona, and I couldn't care less what you think…"

"Oh I know Arizona. Intimately" Carina interrupted.

"As I said, I don't care. Now unless you know where she is, I suggest you walk away before I say something I regret"

Carina smiled, stepping back and holding out her hands in surrender "Guess she found a feisty one this time"

"You have no idea"

Callie glared at the Italian woman until she backed off completely, and continued on her way through the hospital. Taking a deep breath, the brunette sat down and pulled out her phone, sending another text to Arizona even though the lack of replies to her previous messages told her that the attempt would be futile.

A few minutes later, Christina appeared in the waiting area.

"Hi, I assume you're Callie?"

"Yes" the brunette got up and shook her hand "and you must be Christina…or Dr Yang…sorry, I…"

"Christina is fine. Or Yang. Arizona calls me either. So the receptionist seemed to think it was urgent, how can I help?"

"Have you seen Arizona this afternoon?"

"Not since lunch" Christina shook her head "I know she had an appendectomy but unless there were serious complications, she should have been out a while ago. You haven't come running down here because she's not text you back, have you? Because I have to warn you, that's the kind of crazy that'll have Robbins running a mile…"

"God no" Callie exhaled "I need to speak to her, to warn her…"

"Warn her about what?"

"The police are looking for her. And it's all a massive misunderstanding but I really have to see her"

"I'm sorry" Christina laughed "I thought you just told me you weren't crazy"

"I'm serious" Callie gripped her arm "my ex…my husband. He's managed to convince the cops that Arizona brought me to New York against my will. That she's kidnapped me or something"

"What? That's fucking insane"

"I know, believe me I fucking know. And I have to fix this. So please, will you help me find her?"

"Yes, absolutely" Christina snapped into action mode "follow me"

Without even giving Callie a chance to ask where they were going, Christina turned and headed for an elevator. The brunette caught her up as the doors opened, and they stepped in together.

"Where umm…where are we headed?" Callie asked.

"Paediatrics. I know reception already called up, but if she isn't there, one of the nurses is bound to know where she is. Most of the time the hospital gossip's a pain in the ass, but it should help us out here"

"Please dear god, just let her have been called into an emergency surgery or something" Callie's eyes widened "Oh god, now I sound like one of you, talking about surgery like it's a good thing"

"A good thing? It's the greatest thing in the world" Christina gave her a look.

"I…right, totally the wrong audience for that comment"

The elevator dinged and the two women stepped out, with Christina once again leading the way as they power walked to the nurses station.

"Jenna" Christina waved over one of the nurses, not even bothering with any pleasantries "do you know where Dr Robbins is?"

"I…" the nurse winced, clearly torn between her fear of the doctor in front of her and her own boss "you're gonna need to ask Yolanda"

"Ok, then you're gonna need to tell me where Yolanda is"

"Right here Dr Yang" a stern looking women approached them from behind "what are you doing up here, there's no heart patients on this floor?"

"My friend here urgently needs to speak to Dr Robbins. Would you be so kind as to tell us where she is?" Christina added an over-the-top smile for good measure.

"And who exactly are you?" Yolanda narrowed her eyes at Callie.

"I erm…I'm her…"

"She's her girlfriend" Christina finished for her.

"Very funny Dr Yang" the senior nurse folded her arms.

"She's telling the truth, ma'am. So please, please could you tell me where Arizona is?" Callie begged, on the verge of tears.

Taking pity on the clearly distressed woman, Yolanda exhaled "Ok. The police came by about half an hour ago looking for her, took her in to answer some questions. And before you ask, I have no idea what about. But the fact you're here so soon after they were makes me think you don't need me to tell you anyway"

"Oh fuck" Callie ran a hand through her hair "did they say where they were taking her?"

"I can't be certain, but I think they were from 33rd Precinct"

Callie turned to Christina, wide eyed.

"Go!" Christina nudged her "If you run, it'll be quicker than taking a cab"

"Thank you…all of you!"

Callie ran back to the elevator, desperately hitting the button repeatedly until the doors opened. Once inside, she pulled out her phone and checked the directions to the precinct. As soon as the doors opened again, she ran out of the hospital and headed right.

Christina had been correct, the traffic was practically at a standstill and she easily covered ground faster than she would have done if she'd taken a cab.

Barely five minutes later, she found herself once again trying to catch her breath whilst also trying to speak to an unfortunate receptionist.

"Hi, I understand…" Callie took a deep breath, trying to stop herself from hyperventilating "you have my girlfriend here for questioning. I really need to speak to the officer in charge of the…investigation, I guess"

"And what is your girlfriend's name, ma'am?" the receptionist asked, looking bored.

"Dr Arizona Robbins"

The receptionist tapped a few keys on her computer and then looked back at the brunette "I'm afraid I can't give out any information on that case. I suggest you go home and wait for her to call you"

"No, you don't understand. I have to speak to someone now"

"Ma'am, if you would kindly step away from the counter, unless you'd rather I call an officer to escort you out of here?" the woman smiled at her sarcastically.

"I don't care who you call" Callie hissed "what you need to understand is that you currently have an alleged abduction victim standing in front of you. So I'm telling you, I need to speak to the officer in charge"

"Yeah, you might have wanted to lead with that bit" the receptionist rolled her eyes "give me a minute"

The woman picked up the phone, glancing repeatedly at Callie as she clearly waited for an answer "Hey Mike, it's Lina on the front desk….yeah yeah, good thanks, and you?...so I've just had a walk in, says she's the vic in your Washington case…yeah her….sure thing Mike, see ya"

Hanging up the phone, the receptionist turned back to Callie "Officer Ross will be with you shortly, have a seat"

"Thanks, I appreciate it"

The brunette did as she was told, and took another seat in another waiting area. Six minutes passed – she knew because she spent the entire time staring intently at the second hand on the wall clock – before the officer appeared. He looked almost disappointed to see her. She wondered if everyone in this precinct was miserable, or she'd just been unlucky with who she'd met.

"Mrs Rodriguez?"

Callie stood up, frowning "Actually it's Torres"

"Right, well I'm Officer Ross. You're a difficult woman to track down"

"Not really"

"We've been trying to call you all day"

"I have my phone set to automatically block unknown callers" she explained "Can I see Arizona please?"

"How about we go in here and have a little chat first?" he pointed at a room behind her.

"Fine" she reluctantly followed him, taking a seat in the room as he closed the door behind them.

"So Mrs…Torres, were you aware that your husband reported you missing?"

"Just call me Callie, please" the brunette folded her ups, fed up with his failed attempts at her name "and yes, I've been made aware of what my ex has been saying, hence I'm here to clear up any misunderstandings"

"So you and Mr Rodriguez are separated?"

"Yes. And yes, he's very aware of that fact"

"That's…not exactly the impression that he gave my colleagues in Newport" Officer Ross said diplomatically.

"I'm sure he didn't" Callie sighed "so let me be really, really clear. I left my husband because he has a history of violence, of being abusive towards women, and my entire life with him was a lie. I moved to New York with Arizona willingly to get away from that life, and this whole charade is just another attempt to get at me…to get at her"

"You understand that I need to ask some questions, to make sure that you aren't here under duress?"

"Fine, but do I really look like I'm here against my will?"

"No…" he relented "but I wouldn't be able to forgive myself if I let you walk out of here and something happened to you. So reassure me. You must realise that it seems suspicious, you disappearing all of a sudden?"

"That's the whole point, I didn't disappear!" the brunette exclaimed "No, I didn't tell Eduardo where I was going, but I told him I was leaving. My sister, my best friends, they all knew that I was going to New York with Arizona. Did nobody even think to ask them?"

"I understand that Newport PD tried to get hold of your sister but they were unable to make contact"

Realisation dawned on Callie "She's in China on business. She has no cell coverage"

"Newport spoke with your parents and they said they were worried about you, that they hadn't heard from you and they last saw you being driven away by Dr Robbins"

"Goddamn" the brunette put her head in her hands "they're nearly as bad as he is. Why didn't anybody listen to Mark?"

"I believe they did speak to your friend, but felt that he appeared not to take the matter seriously, and shared the concern of your husband…your ex, and your parents"

"Yeah, well maybe they need to brush up on their detective skills. Come on, you've met Arizona, does she seriously seem like the kidnapper type to you?"

"That could be a dangerous judgment to make" he pointed out.

"But do you really think she could have got me on a plane and flown me across the country if I didn't want to? I held her hand for the whole damn flight for gods sake"

"Ok" he held up his hands "you've convinced me"

"So…you're gonna let Arizona go now?"

He took a deep breath "Yes. I suggest you wait outside, she'll be out shortly"

Callie exited the precinct, taking a deep breath and leaning up against the wall. This whole thing was utterly crazy. Arizona Robbins, the girl who freaked out about skipping class at school, had actually been questioned for kidnapping her. Once again, someone had fallen for Eduardo's charm, his lies, his schemes. And once again, Arizona had suffered.

Ten minutes later, the blonde stepped out of the precinct doors, and Callie's ran to her, pulling her into her arms.

"Arizona, oh my god!" the brunette sobbed "I'm so sorry, are you ok?"

"Please" Arizona squeezed back, speaking softly "please just take me home"
