A/N It's been a hot minuet since I have written anything. So, please forgive me. I'm a bit rusty.

A/N 2. I cleaned up this chapter a bit and added some more.

Chapter 1. The Visitors

The rain pattered against the window as Charlie took a sip from his coffee.

A chill had seeped into the house and even with the heater running, his body quivered. He didn't know if it had been from the cold outside or if it was from the caffeine. The coffee had long since turned cold, a sour, bitter taste on his tongue.

It had been three years since the boy Riley Biers had gone missing. He stared at the photo on his kitchen table laying on casefile labeled unloved. Three years he thought. Three years since he had not been able to bring peace to the minds of the parents of this young man. There was only so much the small town of Forks could do with their limited resources.

His chair creaked as he sat back in his wooden chair, the yellow color of his kitchen felt wrong, it felt dirty. The flickering light above him clashed with the cabinets, creating shadows around him. He couldn't shake the heaviness from his heart. He knew exactly what those parents were feeling.

Though he would never tell Bella, she once had an aunt.

It had been nearly 40 years since his older sister Isabelle had gone missing. She was the reason why he wanted to become a cop. He couldn't have been older than eight years old when he last saw her face. The day was seared into his brain and how she walked out those doors, and never walked back in.

When Charlie was old enough, he dedicated himself to learning all he could about becoming a detective, he thought to himself that maybe by joining the force, he would do what everybody else couldn't. Maybe he would find clues that had been overlooked, maybe he had an affinity for finding people that nobody else had.

Or maybe even… she was waiting for him.

But of course, that never happened. He fell into an obsessive loop, and the missing kept piling up. He became disheartened. Those who were lost, sometimes were never found. Charlie never left Forks because of Isabelle, even when Renee ran away, he thought of his sister.

What if she came back… what if she came back home and the house was empty?

He lost his family waiting for his family.

Charlie pushed himself up from where he was sitting, his body aching, He had gotten old waiting for people to come back he thought. He placed his chilled coffee in the sink, it was too late for coffee anyways. He needed sleep but the house felt empty without Bella.

It had always been empty; someone was always missing. He would never tell a soul, but he hated this house. It had never felt like a home, so much pain had come and gone through those doors. It felt like his own personal hell, every day he wished that he had followed Renee.

Maybe then he would not have lived the lonely life that he did, wasting his life away, waiting on ghost.

Grabbing a scratchy blanket that was draped over the back of his couch, he wrapped himself in it. Sitting back in his favorite lazy-boy chair that was molded to his bottom, he shivered.

The pattering of the rain picked up against his window, tapping with an urgency. It had been raining nearly non-stop, and for the entirety of that week he had been experiencing trouble sleeping. He felt on edge, like if somebody was watching and following him.

Feeling pitiful in his loneliness he thought of everything that was wrong.

His instincts as a cop warned him to be cautious but he ignored it even though he had been haunted by this foreboding sense of eeriness. His every move felt as if he were moving in slow motion, like if he was walking in a dream. He felt detached, like if he was falling into some kind of delirium and he felt… depersonalized. Pulling his blanket closer to him, for once he was able to drift off into an uneasy sleep.

Later that night.

It was around 3am when Charlie was startled awake to the sound of thunder, the alarm of his police cruiser blaring into the cold rainy night. Thunder crashed again and he looked around, his heart racing when lightning lit up his living room in a bluish haze.

His heart thrummed again in his chest, the taste of metal in his mouth. Ge was again affected by that foreboding sense of danger. Slipping on his house shoes, he grabbed his keys on the kitchen counter, the image of Riley Biers leering at him.

He tore his eyes away from the picture and headed outside.

His skin burned from the cold. The rain tapped again his face and he imagined it felt like cold fingers stabbing into his face, tracing gently down his cheeks, mockingly, like tears.

Looking up, his curled hair was instantly drenched in the rain, his house shoes squelching in the puddle that was his driveway. Even through the clouds and rain he could see the moon looking down at him, watching silently.

Shaking his head, he hurried towards the cruiser.

His fingers shaking, they felt stiff from the cold as he fumbled with his keys. He froze when he noticed the large dent at the side of his car. Slowly he looked down at his slippered feet, his toes squelching in chunks of what appeared to be dead animal.

Slowly, his eyes followed the trail of death until his eyes found on three cloaked figures. His eyes focused on the smallest. A child it appeared; the heavy hood draped over. Charlie stumbled back, forgetting his car instantly he raced to get his gun, but he was too slow. One of the hooded figures was too fast, it reached him instantly.

He cried out and that's when the hood of one of the cloaked figures fell back to reveal the beautiful face of a blonde child.

The lightning crashed again, her red eyes were illuminated, burning into the night like red-hot coals. She smiled at him as if she were bringing a gift. In her hands she cradled the head of the decapitated deer with a childish gleam, but it was much more sinister.

The small girl sneered at him, "the Cullen's has disobeyed us long enough, flaunting our secret in front of you, like if it is a joke, then they brought that abomination of a child!" The girl growled. Dropping the deer head, it lolled to the side and peered into Charlie. She then reached into the sleeve of her thick black cloak and pulled out what appeared to be a heavy envelope, made of an expensive looking, parchment like material.

Charlies legs buckled and he was brought to his knees as he was overtaken by an unsurmountable amount of pain, he crumpled to the ground. In that moment he looked so young in his blue, plaid pajamas and worn Forks police academy shirt that was older than Bella. His clothes soaked in the mud and blood on his driveway.

He balled his hands into a fist, fighting back a scream. The veins in his neck bulged, the blood in his body swam to the surface of his cheeks as he glared at those in front of him. Charlie gasped as he tried to speak, his body thrummed with adrenaline.

His body trembled painfully, but he was able to get himself up to a standing position. They had mention Bella and he would not let anything happen to his daughter, or his granddaughter.

The figures that stood motionless behind the blonde child, stirred looking towards her heard voices mummering. They were muffled through the pain he was feeling but he was still able to catch "…he should be fully subdued by your powers…Bella…gift"

"Felix." The pain relented as she narrowed her eyes at Charlie.

The largest cloaked figure appeared before him, as the other who has caught him moved to be back beside the blonde. Felix turned back towards his comrades with a look of uncertainty. Charlie recognized the look in his eyes, it was one of a subordinate, who was being told to go against orders, or their own judgement.

Charlie was wrapped in an ironclad grip, no mater how much he struggled he couldn't shake the hold of this powerful man. It was futile to fight. The officer in him began thinking of ways to deescalate the situation, but his train of thought was interrupted but a crushing sensation.

He was no match for the inhuman strength of this monster of a man holding him. The pair shared a silent look, and Charlie was suddenly reminded of the winding sensation of a carnival ride as once again he felt that feeling of derealization as his body was lifted into the air

His heart pounded against his chest, he felt as if something were caught in his throat, a single tear slipping down his cheek. Charlie let out a blood curdling scream.

Spluttering blood as he felt the life of him leave his body, his chest crush into him, then in a swift movement, a sound like a two by four breaking echoed into the trees and around them, as he was brought swiftly down to the knee of the large man and Charlie went completely limp.

The large figure dropped him unceremoniously, like if the very touch of him disgusted him.

The girl gave him one last disdainful look "The Volturi" she said as she dropped the envelope before him "send their regards."

Cold and trembling on the ground, Charlie felt himself begin to fade. In the distance he heard a howl as he looked up into the blue moon, shining bright and luminous.

A tear slid down his cheek as he thought about Bella and how there was so much, he wanted to say… and then everything went black.

Alaska

A large crash was heard in the Cullen's home.

Alice gasped! She was trembling as she looked at Edward. This was not was supposed to happen, Jane had acted impulsively. Alice looked directly at Edward.

A look of pure horror marred his face. "Charlie," was all she was able to say before he was rushing towards the Swan's residence.

He was the fastest, maybe he would get to him on time, but he knew he would be too late.

Alice had already saw that.
