Chemistry.
A word that can describe in two ways.
The physical and emotional attraction between two individuals.
And the branch of science that deals with the properties, interaction, and changes of different kinds of substances.
Both of which Ulrich Stern has trouble with. Although, right now, he is working on the latter. As promised, Aelita has started tutoring him on the classes he was failing on, which was all of them, save for physical education. They were at the library, alone together at a table with stacks of texts and paper assignments decorating it.
"Okay, let's review." Aelita closed her science textbook before grabbing a piece of paper full of questions that she typed and printed herself last night. "First question, what are the particles make up the nucleus of an atom, and what is the particle that is outside of the atom's nucleus?"
Ulrich rubbed his temples, trying to remember what they have been going through for the past hour.
"Okay..." He concentrated, "I know for sure that electrons are outside of the nucleus, so...protons, and neutrons?" He half-answered, half-asked, not entirely sure of the names of the particles. He will never understand why scientists name such things with complicated names.
Aelita smiled, "That's right! Now, onto the next question."
Ulrich nodded as she continued to ask chemistry questions while he tried his hardest to remember the right answer. The pinkette was more than prepared for the tutoring session than he thought despite it being almost on short notice since last night. The young lass stayed up a bit late the night before, writing questions and organizing on what subjects to study first. She even wrote some equations and formulas from both math and science that he needed to memorize into his brain.
"You sure you don't want to take a break?" Ulrich asks with concern after another hour into their study session. He saw tired the pinkette was when he met up with her before classes started. He even saw her dowsing off in classes. The rest was he suggesting was more for her sake than for his, despite wanting to take a break himself. However, with all the progress that he had made so far before this, he might finally get an A or even an A+ on a class that is not phys ed.
"No...we can...keep going." She declines as she tries to stifle a yawn. In the end, she gave out a big yawn and her eyes were closed to stop tears from escaping. When she opened them, she saw Ulrich living up to his surname with his own eyes narrowed, and his arms were crossed with his right index finger tapping on his right forearm. She gives in as she shuffled through some papers. "Alright...I'll-I'll take a five-minute nap."
Ulrich raised an eyebrow. She will need more than five minutes.
Aelita handed him a couple of pages of review questions before asking him to answer as much as he could in five minutes. She rests her arms on the table before resting her head on top of them.
"Yeah, I'm not doing that, Princess." He said in his thoughts as he looked over all the review questions first before answering them, which took him a while as there was almost a hundred question on the packet. He was about to answer the first question when he heard some soft rumbling sounds. Training his trains to the source, his search led him to the person sleeping across from. Aelita was snoring in her sleep.
Ulrich smirked, finding her snoring to be quite cute, but he knew that was not healthy. Slowly so that he would not make a sound, he pushed back his chair before going around the table. He took off his cameo jacket, which he draped over the sleeping princess.
Aelita stirs a bit in her sleep, adjusting her head so that the side of her face was lying on her arms, getting comfortable. Her snoring was gone, and with her face in partial view, the young man saw the pinkette was smiling in her sleep.
With a smile, he softly said, "Sweet dreams, princess."
