(A/N: This is a one shot connecting to the legacy of Hiccup/Drayko and Toothless that neither have ever seen nor heard of before until now, it's a short offshoot so I can satisfy my desire to have a moment where the two heroes come to this cursed island to explore what life was like in the Ancient Times that their ancestors had lived in. Planktopolis from The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie was used to symbolize the villainous nature of Grimbeard the Ghastly in his time of rule, but unlike Snotface prior to agreeing to help his cousin after letting out all of his anger towards him; Grimbeard actually feels remorse for his actions and sails off to never again be seen on the edge of Midgard where he vanished of the face, believing this to be for the greater good all while he never earned his son's forgiveness but neither earned his wrath in the aftermath. This one-shot is also a example of there being limited dialog here, as I want Drayko and Toothless to examine the surroundings of their lost legacy on their shoulders all in total silence; it's not an approach I do but I think a Genndy Tartakovsky feel would do this justice. Here we go)
The time of the Dragons and the extinction of mankind within the Archipelago approaches in this war that is still young to be stopped, now there is only a king who can save you and unite both worlds that are about to become one thanks to the one who will be known as the Champion of All Who Stands Above Them
You will know who he is thanks to the King's Lost Treasures listed below you
A fangless Dragon who is more than what meets the eye
My sword that I wield and use to slay all who reject my benevolence I offer to them in favor of the bloodscathing powerhouse of warfare
A shield taken from the many Centurions of the Romans that were killed by yours truly
An arrow from the land that is a illusion to the West forged from the native tribes who live together with the Mayans and Aztecans
The stone of heart that beasts as one with the love of a mother
They key that will open and reveal those who have nothing to hide behind their locks
The all-knowing compass that will serve and become vital to the trials being undertaken by only the damnest of the courageous and brave men to women alike
The throne that shall be stained with my blood along with the heir who will be slain in when a malevolent king is born in the future
The crown of all those who have fallen and all of who remains after death
Finally, there is the best one of them all. A cursed diamond that will save all men and dragonkind alike
The Trials of the King's Lost Treasures is about to begin now, seek out these treasures and do not make the same mistake I have made from long ago. Should you become the next king, I ask of you as her ruler not to enslave both worlds and force them into performing desires of such greed and selfishness. The fury of previous and benevolent kings will rain down upon you soon, should you be the one whom is evil at heart. Merciless will fall for not keeping his own part of his word to those who might think to form their blood bond with him, but do not be burdened under this journey ahead. You are the mightiest of them all, you are the one who will save the seafaring land of Midgard. I have the greatest weapon when all is lost and that is my hope in you
This was the Prophecy inscripted for the Trials of the King's Lost Treasures, it was one that has been passed down for centuries to all who ruled here in the Archipelago; but as it was known back then, the Kingdom of the Barbaric Tribes for the earthbound land of Midgard
If one was to ask what did Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III thought about when he was a young lad, he would not appear to be interested in the old folktales as dragons were his interest; in that event it did welcome him to a more opened earth of ideas for him to take heed to what prophecies are foretelling more than he had so before. Now living a new life as Drayko Ryder he was according to the everyday Viking and to the everyday Dragon here, a hero as the rest called him quite the assortment of titles. The Legendary Dragon Rider, the Dragon Tamer and Whisperer as well as the Conqueror of Bludvist's Army were just some of the things that he's known as. He was even given the name of the Dragon Conqueror but only corrected those as part of an abandoned habit of his when he told them that he had no conquered them, he had trained them. Fame's not that he thought about, what mattered to him is his achievement for a united Archipelago as he focused his time on Draconia; adjusting the humans to the new life that opened their eyes to a unseen world of opportunities
Today it was nothing short of being an new morning for the shroud of the arctic winter that's come to set the icebergs for the cycle of the seasons, adapting to the lifestyle that has been teaching teens to the children of Draconia with young adults joining in the academy on from the main island itself. There was the School of Dragons of course but that was to train them to go out there to begin their tasks that are done for not only liberating the Archipelago of those hunters, but to also build their bond through the strength of heart in one another. For him it's a good day as there's no teaching, no threats out there that have been reported and there is a lack of one Dragon that called for his help involving trouble. He rode upon the back of his bud and flew over one of the smaller islands at the northern side of according to the journals that is written by Hiccup Horrendous Haddock II, the northeast side from the Sullen Sea where the Outcast Lands would've stood in the Ancient Times as it's much different from how it all looks like nowadays in this age. Drayko just wanted to enjoy life here, once he found out that he is approaching his destination; he flew near the edge of it's blackened waters
Looking down on his bud, Toothless responded with an happy and agreeing smile as the two of them flew downwards; landing on the edge of the forest. Dismounting from his saddle as he stood on the ground, looking forth into the woodlands that stood before them; it looked thick from above but it was very beautiful down below the treetops and so they entered the darkness of the timberlands
Drayko and Toothless walked around for a bit, over the thick fallen logs to solid bridges across a first sign was seen that they were getting closer. There was plants and trees that grew in to out with no order around some of the minor stone brick structures. This is something alright, none of these were built since the time of Grimbeard and looking behind it; he managed to see something. He motioned Toothless follow behind and he did so willingly
Walking down the open main plaza he looked all around him to see that these ruins was their kingdom, but it wasn't just any one found because oh no this belonged to his bloodline; this entire place was ruled by his ancestors along with his triple great grandfather, and this was a place that Stoick should not be aware of about
The Final Ending of the Hero is the cursed island found from the shadows of the skies, once it had turned into a thick and dark revenna to messina brown colored trudging like thick smoggy like cloud that blazed with flickering embers blowing through the air to mix in with the rising sun of the arctic region in the distance like sky. Cumulonimbus clouds shrouded the land and spiraled above the ruins of the kingdom in the short time while spanning out eight thinned-scythe spider like legs out to the other directions. Warm and condense mist combined with a heated, humid temperature that made the atmosphere everywhere give adventurers a true intensive gut feeling that this may be their end. Sunlight above lit the land while before the eyes of those who dare approach this place, among the landmarks there was the beaches as they were called the Symphony Dunes that sung with a step taken along the edge of the very island. Guarding the island was a swarm of beasts from tamed sea serpents, Leviatharons, the Ripwreckers, Seashockers, Luminous Krayfins, Thunderdrums and pods of Sliquifiers. There is once a number of original dragons who once lived here that as Green Death mentioned, they had been hunted down by Vikings before coming to be lured into his volcano so that they all can be safe from the the threat of the hunters
These included the Ballistic Silentwing, the Wicked Tricksters, the Howlians, the Slicerwings, the Wocky Jabberjaws, the Sinistrous Woodreapers, the Hufflebucks, the Cryaotics and them Mudicries as they're all still here to this day and age; but not many of them live from hunters everywhere. Abundant and lively forests filled with animals that interacted with civilians of this settlement were once present here, along with the steadiest structures built on this land to withstand even the greatest of trials that their king had overcome to become their ruler. It became clear that even the Owl Gut Tribe had decided to take lessons for using various wood types to build their homes, strengthening it's endurance from the raids of Dragon Marauders that attack with each and everything that's in their armory of armaments. Several wood types that were used to build these roofed balcony houses consisted of ebony, African blackwood, great dark oak, black chestnut and dark maple. Layered with dark pagus brown and charcoal black bricks that are melded strongly together with mortar from the largest hot steaming mud springs they've got found in the heaviest downpours of rain, reinforcing their homes with the Volcanripper Metal that has been discovered for maximum protection and security against all sieges and raids that are laid to the kingdom against those who follow their ruler. There was a tall rectangular structure like a stack of blocks with four smaller towers on top of it, having an number of colorful Egyptian range of blue, red, green, cyan and gold like Tiburonkolt's sails to his armor when he helped the Captain of the Guard rid of the Persians out of their Pharoah's sea of dunes; featuring the loyal knights that stand by his side; in Duloc where this is based off of, it was called the Westminster Shabby Cathedral
Garlic grass happened to be grown here on the fresh new soil that was laid on the foundation of this rock to replace the dead yellow blades that blew in the slim bursts of wind albeit in an brittle fashion before breaking apart. Dragons loved snuggling and rolling themselves around in them, it really did calm them to ludicrous decrees for that matter. Tall battlement walls are built for defense against sieges, outposts on every edge for taking out threats further out and far from their kingdom as the battlements themselves alongside the main castle is based off the Italian fortified city of Auditore itself in Italy; as tribute to the homeland of Tiburonkolt who had helped their king end the war between them. That in return carried over all of the elements from and aesthetics from various locations such as Firenze, Duloc, Monteriggioni and the interior of the Desert Fortress from the Glyphic Ruins. That guarded location had an altar that overlooked the lake, with a guardian that kept the flames alive; outside had them serpent coiled catwalk towers that was a one of an kind bridge, a canyon of rising waterfalls with tall pillars that depicted the knights that defended what was once Hiccup Horrendous Haddock I's kingdom. Having a road that led to the sunken ruin in the lake where the altar of the flames was, overhung with moss above and more to be banyan vines and weeping willow tree leaves
Architecture also included the Buccaneer of the Separation's tri-decked war brigantine that's been transformed into the main capital flagship of the naval armada fleet for the King of the Barbaric Tribes as their ruler was called. Building on itself was other ships that resembled in an anachronistic matter Drago Bludvist's flagship with Eret's Yacht though it's because of the original owner's taste for having his enemies fear him in the Caribbean seas. Plus, the Dragon Trappers have been around for centuries since that time as illegal merchants. What made it's look stand out was that it had a stronghold style from the Crusades and for the Renaissance, it happened to use tall battlement towers from the Masyaf stronghold and Hospitallier Fortress from Acre in the lower class district where the civilians were not rich but had enough to live a new day. Poor district to be exact but wanted to be avoided so it's not a insult towards those who are among the homeless. Persian strongholds that were once present in Egypt when the Captain of the Guard and second in command to the king, Tiburonkolt returned to drive them out of the Pharaoh's sea of dunes and matched the outer gates of the region transformed into independent city Attica, Greece in front of it's shores were also added into the mix as well. It took the meaning of kingdom to heart for this and both were happier to be proud to do so, it just ain't a city without a castle. As for the rope bridges that were all new it was made of the same planks used for houses and were at least 8" wide while being thick at 5/4 which is at an normal to a bit long length, as the planks themselves are slightly thinner and slanted to the sides thanks to the rope bindings; it was also close towards the bottom for that matter as well. All of them sat atop the bottom of the rope bindings that were lashed in a narrow x-letter formation, five planks in between the ball shaped bindings and two for in between the parallel and diagonal patter of the ropes on the sides. It always swayed slowly to the sides and below the oceans calmly ran through with a few jagged rocks that stuck about sporadically, the sides on the ropes diagonally slanted on either side with the next pattern being vertically straight; parallel on either side and spaced out in between by four inches from each other
During the time that Grimbeard the Ghastly ruled that caused the downfall of this kingdom, he had not only refused to accept his destiny but also branded the Fellowship of the Dragonmark a symbol of shameful slavery against the wishes of those who were the kings; mainly Hiccup Horrendous Haddock I himself. He forced those under the fellowship into slavery, leading his kingdom to the darkest of times. Those who resisted are slain no matter be it armed or unarmed which showed that he was a dishonorable ruler, he in accordance with his encounter with Wodensfang forbid the Dragonese language; reestablishing the dreaded and horrible Viking Law that should've remained abolished for all time. Only being finally put to rest when he killed his son, or thought to have done so. In his reign there were many structures built like dual stacked rectangular pyramids that went horizontally across in front with the name of his son, crossbar underswung banners depicting the crest of his own kingdom. Among others were dome topped gazebos going three steps up with a statue of Snotface Jorgenson as he believed that he was right, not accepting the fact in that he turned to his ancestor's side in the end to help him kill Merciless. Not to mention the dual stacked horizontal pyramids had two statues of his son in front his name, on either side. There were also three ring radius dug single square plated pyramid topped obelisks that had his son's name to seize glory to him, a thick three step on the sides square shaped arch that had a step underneath the top one that went outward by five inches; having the open hole be in the shape of himself raising his hands upward to the sides in victory, on top of them are statues of Snotface holding the braziers that let out a tall smoke pillar into the sky. Second of each banner lined up along either side had a brazier on top with tall smoke pillars
There was a temple like structure that had two engravings of Snotface next to each other and having their fists on their hips, crowned as the entire structure itself was in a thick and large-sized rectangle with a triangular roofed gazebo entrance on either side with stairs leading up to them inside the shade. At the bottom of the front was a rectangular wall with four short 'n stout pillars at the front of the stairs, the top edge all around having two parallel lined edges that were rounded and spaced out in between by three inches; the top of the front also had a two medium sized stair stacked design with the third one being taller than the other, having a long slab that went outwards on the sides. The main ones were colossal brick built statues that came in four poses: arms up on the sides victory, fists on hips, laying on side while he's flexing his arm and holding a brazier straight outwards that also let out a tall thick black pillar of smog. The main statue stood on a large square with a rectangle protruding outward forth two outlined rectangles, the twelve stairs led up to the elevated ground that had a three square plate stacked pyramid with a upward rectangular shaped staircase of twenty steps leading to the front of the brickbuilt statue that showed dominating victory. Around the statue was a ring of columns with an smooth half ring top that opened at the front, having an large square block underneath as that supported the middle of in between the spanned out legs. The front corners of either side had gazebos and was a sign of how low the kingdom had fallen under Grimbeard's reign of enslaved tyranny, and the statues also had scaffolding that was never removed so that they can be supported more easily from tipping over. There was also an rectangular podium stand that had a five inch outward square plate on top, his name was engraved on the front directly with columns that had flat discs on top; ignited with fire and placed on either side of the stone podium to make announcements to his slaves and to his soldiers. There was even a square stacked pyramid that had the statue of Grimbeard raising his poisonous Vamparic Snaringsteether liquid coated Stormblade as he lets out a triumphant declaration of victory all with an angrily sinister open mouthed smug smiling as well
Now and today, the island was broken of it's curse when the king was found and for centuries all that remains had become ruins of the once great civilization. Overgrown but still clean and shining as if there have been those who were taking good care of these ruins throughout the end, a few structures were falling apart but were still looking as if it was newly built; he was becoming more right about how there was something keeping this location as pure as it can. Marveling at the buildings to the structures, now he's starting to know more about what the splinter faction terrorist organization from the Defenders of the Wing's leader told him about the Darkferno having been stolen during the fall of his old kingdom. Pierece Vetzkorne was his name and the splinter group was named Devil Watch that he led, with an innovative and advanced looking jetpack as there were two dome topped cylinders on the sides; a horizontal rectangular brick was placed on the front along with a dragon head bamboo cannon ready to fire with a spark. His mission was a crusade against the DOTW's queen for choosing favor over the Great Protector when he claimed that she had done nothing to protect their people, and though he claimed that he was a true defender his ways fully display that he doesn't value all the courage of her people that ruins the name even moreso than what he claims Mala did to the name. He was just a disillusioned traitor to the tribe and masked his presence until the two of them fought after revealing his presence
Pierece's militia believed in returning the Defenders of the Wing back to their former warrior like culture that he claimed it was in the past by seeing the deaths of other dragon riders out there that are inspired by Drayko, a man whom became his nemesis after stopping his plot to assassinate her. His loyal men and women were willing to heavily follow their leader toward the end, even it was his enemy that was a outsider to their culture. Although skilled, there is not enough to take over Caldera Cay. He tried solving this by allying Devil Watch with Viggo, but ended when he left them to die; and when bolstering numbers using Drayko unwillingly he wasn't happy with this idea when he found out he's building his own army of riders. So he became furious, keen to rid of him as soon as possible. That all came to a end when Mala was assumed to have died, taking over before Drayko took over his position as Devil Watch leader and reclaimed the Darkferno that belonged to him. Most are honor bounded to join him and many did not take him as their king before telling him that no outsider will rule Caldera Cay, Drayko took advantage of this as he took the throne for himself and forced the ones who now reinstate their loyalty to the queen to rejoin her side as she stepped out to them alive; as he also took Vetzkorne's white and blue insignia armor. Revealing his deception that it was all a plot to take back what belonged to his ancestor, and with them showing how really loyal they are to their queen; he had to kill their leader in combat. Now, he can show them how to train dragons back at Draconia and having nothing more to say; he gave Mala back her throne and left as the threat of Devil Watch was over. Most of their weapons included a carbine version based off Jhuruako's three-in-one rifle crossbow but without the features that made it look different from other crossbows, and dual pistolized versions for stable trajectory of the shots
But once he saw the castle he had to enter inside, marveling at the architecture as the gates were opened from the sides before closing them behind him. In the Ancient Times his kind, loving and loyal civilians had been building all these structures with stone but after it's fall by the actions of Grimbeard; this art of stone building architecture like this had been forbidden in the Archipelago. It was established that way when he began his rule and since the fall, he confided everything to his living son now that Thugheart had been slain with a poisoned and slowly dying Furious retreating back into the seas so he can die peacefully. The kingdom was ancient and long forgotten, the walls showed their age but remained steady; a few shriveled clothes depicting the dragons of the times with tapestries of the everyday lives of people are hung. There was even a highly decorated sword with an pattern featuring every dragon that's been present hanging on the wall, a thick beaming ray of pale gold sunlight found a way into the castle through the cathedral stained glass circular hole that had no shattered fragments of glass to be found. Revealing the black altar in front in the dark castle that held a thick and brown leather bounded book
This book was a dark mountain oak and espresso brown color, having an bit of a rich gold to hawaiian tan tint when exposed to the sunlight peaking down. On the front cover had four squares with double round rectangular borders that were close to each other but not together. The top right and bottom left side had four lines with two short strokes across on all four sides of the squares while the diagonal edges were had an X-cross. The top left and bottom right had chimeras with the top left having a rectangular and the bottom right having an square shaped head whose ends of the tails looked like an three leaf clover, both had horns and the same body although the top left was slightly bigger than the other as both were in the same pose: situated on the left side with their right paw up with their right leg forward while their left leg remained straight, their tails went upwards before curving to the left and curving back to the right. The spine of the book had double parallel ridges on the top and bottom, all parts of the Book were raised and made of slightly fuzzy linen. Finally, when opened up the pages were an creamy oat tan color while the illustrations were quite really simplistic but fascinating to look at; the gold that was used was really reflective and colorful with a unique artstyle layered atop the pages and there at least three kinds of fonts used like for the square shaped capital letter it was PetitFleur, the outer shaped capital letter used the Lime Glory Caps and the rest of the text is written in Bouswsma Uncial. Specific words in the text of the various pages were colored in red while the rest was a blue color, each one had either a top or bottom and in few cases both
Looking at the book with such curiosity in his eyes, Drayko walked up to the altar with his bud sitting up to read the title
LOST LEGACY
Questioning the title of three stories in this book that detailed his history, he looked back at Toothless who returned his look back at him with those big and round adorable dilated pupils of his. Back to the book he nodded to himself and read the first page, telling the story of how it all began with the name of Hiccup Horrendous Haddock I stated above with Grimbeard the Ghastly at the second to bottom of the page; with Hiccup Horrendous Haddock II at the total bottom. He indeed was the final king that ruled under the united barbaric tribes, looking up at the beaming ray of the sunlight's window he saw a small statue that was the size of Terror with brown scales; long fangs and a old age on the shoulder of the two Haddocks standing by in front of the wall before him at the altar. The second one was green with a lack of fangs and fully grown like the first one, while he looked at them both Toothless walked over around to toward the green fangless dragon; pressing his snout against it while Drayko did the same to the brown one. Now he had a reason to call his bud Toothless, this was the first one he tamed in Hiccup Horrendous Haddock I's time and given to his triple great grandson; same went for what the engraving called the brown one Wodensfang
Hiccup Horrendous Haddock I was his identical ancestor who had redder colored auburn hair that was short but covered his ears, not too many freckles on his face as he was fully wearing everything that he earned in the Trials of the King's Lost Treasures. Wielding his blade that is the Endeavor sword decorated with a long silver blade having green highlights that all went up halfway featuring various markings of the dragons smeared diagonally upward toward the right as this sword had no fuller with very little stains of darkblood that were dried, having an message written in the pommel's compartment. Featuring a large emerald stone in the black rim that was a medium to small size, having the one and only Fellowship of the Dragonmark within scrawled in the blood of the dragons; the crossguard had a Night Fury flying upwards with it's wings spanned out upward like a horseshoe, though it's body faced forward with it's retractable fangs showing as the beast itself featured more emerald stones and highlights in green. Handle is wrapped in black ribbed leather like Draconian leather, extremely tight and strong as well as endurable as he held it in front of him facing down
Hiccup Horrendous Haddock II was a dirty but golden blonde and matching the likeness of his triple great grandson as his hair was wilder due to being abandoned as a runt and rescued by his mother, wearing an golden edged darkblood red scaled sleeveless vest under his slightly dark creamy tan tunic. Adorned with arm wrappings, brackets and vambracers like his triple great grandfather; having black leggings with strapped boots and green eyes. His sword was that of the Nightbreaker wielded on his back, said to become stronger in the fall of night that should there be a moon or not mattered not; returning to it's normal strength of the user and cycling between day of the sun and night of the moon. Among all of that was his distinctively bloodied wound where he was stabbed by his own loving father that reestablished the Viking Law traditions, dying on the floor that he pleaded to both him and Furious not to wage war to one another; it's what he wanted before he died as his wish for the two races were ignored in favor of who was to blame for his death. His other clothes laid on top of that was a belt across his waist, a battleskirt around his thighs with a ripped cape on his shoulders having a pattern of one large tear next to twin medium sized tears and a slightly less large tear from the left to the right; a headband around his forehead, fur bracers and fur boots for extra layers. His cape should also be mentioned to meet up in a downward facing half heart shape, symbolizing the broken heart of his mother that haunts the Bay of the Broken Heart when he was abandoned for being a runt; a forbidden act of the Viking Law that should've been dead like the law itself to never return, covering his shoulder blades for warmth. His Night Fury stood next to him as he was coiled around from behind, named Midnightfrost for the cold night that he was saved by him in the dead winter that he was laid to rest by his father at his grave
Taking out the Darkferno blade from behind him, he ignited the black sword with white fires that engulfed the entire retractable sword which it's pitch to hum and whistle when swung is higher than the normal Inferno that he carried. Holding it in front of his face before turning it to the cutting edge that he looked with his eyes at both sides, he looked up at the sunlight he was bathed in before raising the Darkferno to let off a searing white beacon light. He turned back to examine the book one more time, seeing how that the weather could not penetrate the kingdom of the Ancient Times; he bid his ancestors a farewell before leaving the castle, opening the doors to the sides as he stepped out. A helmet from the knight once serving his ancestors he picked up and looked at himself before placing it on the altar in front of the one book that told it all showed his shining clear reflection, fading out from the light to darkness of the castle
The shadows of Drayko and Toothless leaving the kingdom on the Final Ending of the Hero vanished in the sun, now having rediscovered their legacy that neither him nor Stoick and Snotlout knew of. Ready to tell the tale that all began before the Knights of the Dragon Riders have risen...
