Montana hadn't bothered dealing with anything next day. She had cried here and there. She had stayed inside her home. She hadn't even gotten out of her pajamas or turned her phone back on. She looked like crap, and she felt like it too.
She was cuddled up on the couch under a blanket when the door bell rang. She was going to ignore it at first but whoever was on the outside wasn't going away. After ringing a couple of times, knocking started. It sounded like several hands on her door.
"Why today of all days?" She sighed.
She got up from her cozy spot on the couch and walked out to open. Her jaw dropped when she saw all her friends from last night standing there. Everyone but Baron. Something told her he hadn't been invited. Drew was standing in front. He smirked as he eyed her up and down.
"Not as pretty as yesterday but still beautiful to me," Drew said.
"You're an ass," Montana said.
"True," Drew smirked. "Can we come in?"
Montana stepped aside and all her friends started moving inside. They all carried something. Pizza, snacks, sodas.
"We tried calling several times but your phone is turned off," Braun said.
"Game night do-over," Dolph said.
"I..." Montana started.
Montana looked down herself. She was well aware at how she looked this evening. She regretted not having showered and changed that morning like she usually did.
"Are you okay?" Drew asked.
"I look like crap," Montana said. "And I probably smell real bad too."
"That's an easy fix," Drew said.
Drew took Montana's hand and turned his head to look towards their friends.
"Start setting up things. We'll be with you soon," Drew said.
Drew pulled Montana to the bathroom.
"Take a quick shower. I'll find some clothes in the bedroom, or you can jump right back into that pajamas. It's cute on you," he said.
"I don't understand," she said.
"We all agreed that last night didn't count as our monthly game night," he said.
"Baron?" She asked.
"He's so not invited anymore," he said.
He smiled at her and took a step closer.
"I knew, Montana," he said. "Baron always suspected how I felt about you despite me never saying anything. He asked often and I just brushed it off. He rushed over to my house next day to tell me. Of course I got a weird version that involved you being his girlfriend. I got that version many times. His version always said you wanted to keep it secret for now."
"He's fucking lying," she said.
"I know that," he chuckled. "I never believed him. Well, I know you slept with him. I can always tell his lies from his truths. But anything besides that one night? Nope, never happened."
"Why didn't you tell me?" She asked.
"How exactly did you want that conversation to go? Excuse me, miss, I hear you had sex with Baron. Care to tell me about that?" He shook his head. "I was hoping you would tell me one day yourself. In the end it doesn't fucking matter who you slept with before tonight."
"Why tonight?" She asked.
He placed his hands on her cheeks and leaned in to kiss her. The kiss lasted five seconds before he slowly pulled back. It wasn't until she looked in his eyes again that she finally understood.
"Oh!" She blushed.
"Yeah, I'm staying the night," he grinned. "And we're not keeping anything secret anymore. It was a very weird way you told me yesterday but I was happy to hear it. I've been having feelings for you for so long. I always felt you had feelings for me too but I wasn't sure if they ran as deep as mine. Imagine my surprise when I found out last night that they do."
"Not all surprises are bad," she said sheepishly.
"Indeed not," he chuckled. "Now shower. I gotta leave this room while my feet is still able to walk in the other direction. Later though..."
He clicked his tongue and grinned. He didn't need to finish that sentence. She knew exactly what was on his mind.
"Uno reverse, bitch," he said.
"Huh?" She asked.
"That was my final words to Baron last night," he smirked. "Uno reverse, bitch. It seemed cool in the moment. Now it's just something I wanted to tell you so you can laugh at it."
"Oh my fucking god!" She laughed. "Out! Now!"
"Clothes?" He asked.
"Yes, just grab whatever. I'll leave the door unlocked so you can throw it in here," she said.
She took the quickest shower in her life. There was a knee long, seaweed green dress on the floor next to the door. She dried herself, got dressed and aimed for the living room.
"There you are," Braun said.
Braun gave Montana a big hug and sat back down. She moved over to sit next to Drew who opened the family sized pizza box.
"Your favorite," Drew said.
Montana felt like crying when she looked at the pizza with falafel, pineapple, spinach and red onions. It wasn't the pizza itself that made her emotional. It was the fact that they all were there for her.
"You guys," Montana said. "Thank you."
"You deserve it," Dolph winked. "Even if you choose Drew over me."
"Get lost!" Drew laughed.
"She can take it," Dolph grinned.
Montana chuckled. This was normal between them. Innocent flirting with Dolph that meant absolutely nothing to both of them. Drew next to her. The rest of her friends being themselves. She leaned in and kissed Drew before grabbing a slice of pizza from the box.
"So what are we playing?" Braun asked. "Host always picks."
"Well, we never finished Uno last night," Montana said.
"Uno reverse, bitch!" Everyone yelled.
"I guess you said that loud enough for everyone to hear," Montana looked at Drew.
Drew chuckled and leaned in for another kiss.
"I was defending your honor," Drew said.
"What a funny way to go about it," Montana said. "I love it. I love all of you guys. I was so scared I had lost you all last night."
"You're never getting rid of us," Braun said.
