Illy woke up that morning with a raging headache. "ow," she said, "i just woke up with a raging headache."
she walked down the stairs, and turned on the tv. "I'm thirsty." she said to herself, reaching for her water bottle. she took a small sip. suddenly, illy's insides BURNED. it was like everywhere the water spread, something was dissolving. she pressed her hands over her stomach. "gah!" she screamed, when it was over, "what WAS that?" she breathed deeply and calmed down. "this water must have something in it." she poured out her water into the sink, and threw the bottle in the trash. Illy thumped down onto the couch, laying back to look through the sky light. "hey.." she twisted her nose, "that wasn't there before.. was it?"
she sighed deeply.
Illy looked through the sky light until her eyes hurt. suddenly she saw a shadow. no- more than that! a girl? but her hair wasn't hair- it was all one piece! she was holding up a sign that said something, but it was hard to see through the blaring light of the window, even though it was early enough for it to still be dark outside. she looked hard at the sign. "your- trapped- climb-" before Illy could read the rest, the girl rushed away.
Illy stared up at the skylight for hours, waiting to see if the girl would come back. she didn't return that day, or the next. Illy spent weeks waiting for her. every day she would lay on the couch, looking up through the sky light, waiting for her to return. she tried to make sense of the words she had read. "your trapped, climb- and then it cuts off." she sighed, "if only i had more time to read it." she chewed the end of her pencil, trying to focus on her homework, but it was useless. all she could think about was the mysterious girl in the skylight. "out? up? what did it say next!?" she banged her head down on the coffee table. then she thought of something.
"what if i was just hallucinating? it was pretty early. i was just tired. yeah, i was just really tired, and thought i saw something." Illy was desperately trying to reassure herself, but deep down she knew what she saw wasn't a hallucination. "it was all fake. everything is normal. life is just pea- GAH!" Illy felt the same sharp, agonizing pain. she looked down at her arm. it was cut open again.
