Cory slowly tip-toed up to the museum in the early hours of dawn. 'Maybe all i have to do is show her the truth,' she thought, 'and then shell understand and be free.' but she knew it wouldn't be that simple. she got up to the door and set down her backpack. she unzipped it, and took out the lock-picking kit her brother had given her for her 10th birthday. carefully, she twisted at the locked door. it was taking to long. Cory heard footsteps. she grabbed her things and ran. hiding behind a wall, she could just make out the faint glow of a flashlight. 'i guess i was to early,' thought Cory, 'the night guards are still on duty.'
"hey fred," said one of the guards, with a mouthful of donut, "what do ya' suppose this is?" he picked up one of Cory's lock-picking tools. oh no! she had accidentally left one behind! "eh, I'm sure its nothin'" said the other guard, "cmon frank, we should get home."
they walked to there car and drove away. drove strait away with Cory's tool. "oh no oh no oh no," whispered Cory, "that was the most important one! it was the perfect size for this lock..." but the she noticed something. the door was left wide open. "heh," Cory laughed to herself, "stupid guards." she pulled her hood tighter, and walked into the museum.
inside it was dark and quiet. Cory could hear herself breathing, every step she took echoing through the building. Cory tucked her sign tighter under her arm. she took a deep breath in as she approached the window with the velvet curtain. Cory stopped in front of it, her 3 hearts beating rapidly inside her chest. she set down her backpack and pulled back the curtain, and pressed the front of the sigh to the window. she looked down at the girl. 'please read it' thought Cory, 'please.' the sign said this: "your trapped. climb through this window, and you'll be free." suddenly Cory heard footsteps. small, squeaky, unpleasant footsteps. Sheldon. Cory ran out of the museum as fast as she could, being careful to leave nothing behind. 'maybe a sign?' thought Cory again, 'maybe that worked?'
