And so the next day came
Tony didn't sleep very well that night.
He woke up every 5 minutes, drained in sweat and breathing uncontrolably.
He got up and decided to make himself some coffee.
When he got to the kitchen he saw the others,sitting around the Table. Dark circles underneath their eyes, Coffee in their hands.
"mornin" Tony said while aiming for the Coffee machine.
"mornin" Clint answered.
The others just nodded a hello.
When the coffee was done he turned around, taking a sip.
he was trying to decide wether to sit down with them or get back to bed where Pepper was still sleeping.
"come on,dont stand there like that.sit down with us" Rhodey then said, reading his mind.
Tony sat down an the end of the big Table.
"friday? " he asked his A.I.
"yes sir."
"what is peter's actual state of condition?"
"it looks like Mr Parker 's breathing has improved. It is still out of the ordinary but much less fast than yesterday .
his ears are damaged,as well as his eye sight.
Peter seems to have a concussion and damaged vocal cords which come from too much screaming.
-Tony flinched as F.R.I.D.A.Y mentioned that.-
Dr Banner took care of the cut on the back of his head, which he is currently working on at the moment.
The wounds on his arms are healing.
Dr. Banner had to do a few stitches.
The wounds on his chest and stomach as well as the ones on his face are not healing as usual though.
They are working on that.
All in all Peter's condition is stable at the moment.
His body is exhausted and needs a long time to recover. "
Tony took a deep breath.
"okay, thats all, thanks"
Steve looked up from his coffee
"the kid really did it this time huh"
"yeah" Tony smiled a little.
"I told him like a thousand times about calling for help if he needs it but he's just too stubborn for that"
"hmm i know that from somewhere" Natasha inserted.
"ha.ha." Tony answered that comment.
"he doesnt want us to think he's weak"
"well he really crossed the line this time"
Bucky said
"oh yeah, he's gonna get grounded for ever" Tony said with a serious look on his face
they smiled softly .
They drank their coffee. After about 15 minutes, Pepper came to join them.
She got herself a cup of coffe as well and sat down.
Bruce came in shortly after that.
He looked even more exhausted.
"hey big guy" Tony greeted him.
"what does it look like Down there?"
"not very good" he admitted.
"i cant figure out why the wounds are not healing..."
they sat there. Quietly, thinking about an answer for that. But nobody could think of a possible reason.
Until:
"i do" Bucky said.
they turned their heads to look at him
"what?" Bruce had to ask.
"I know why the wounds arent healing " he confirmed, this time a little more certain.
"well would you like to share it with us?" Tony asked sarcastically.
Bucky took a deep breath.
"when I was there... they would give you a substance.The doctors injected it. Because most of the 'experiments' there had fast healing they created a substance that would stop that process." he looked up and met the curious eyes of the others.
"why would they want to stop that process?" Thor asked.
"sometimes they needed to test things that required a normal healing process. Stuff they had to experiment with.
And other times they just wanted to punish you. Make you Suffer when you tried to escape or when you did something wrong"
The others lowered their heads.
"well that would explain it" Bruce said, sitting down.
"i still need to figure out what the cut at the back of his head means tho"
"what cut?" Pepper asked.
"Peter has a big cut at the back of his head. I dont know why its there,it looks like they did that on purpose, couldnt find anything yet tho. "
"well,we'll get to that" Tony said standing up.
"I'm gonna get ready"
"what? -Pepper asked,confused- where are you going? "
"i still have a business to run" He answered while already exiting the room.
"he's crazy" Sam said
"he's Tony Stark" Steve added to that comment.
The day passed by. Everybody in the Tower was tense. They havent heared anything from Bruce since he was working in med bay and the labs all day and nobody dared to go and see for themselves.
They all met at Dinner.
Tony sat down.
"what's that?" he asked,looking at his plate.
"Clint cooked" Natasha said with a provocative undertone.
"ey, i heared that" Clint shouted from the Kitchen.
"I'm sure it'll taste amazing" Tony winked at Clint.
"it's my own creation" Clint mumbled.
But they all ate. It wasnt even Bad after all.
"i godda say- Nat began- that was quite good""i agree" Thor smiled at Clint
"well at least some people appreciate a good meal" Clint said looking purposely at Tony.
"it was..." Tony began.
"okay it was good. you happy now legolas?""very much"
"has anyone seen Bruce today?" Was Bucky's first question
"no not at all" Rhodey answered.
"yeah i did but he was in a rush and i didnt wanna interrupt" Wanda added.
They all nodded in agreement.
"I think I'm gonna go down there and see for myself" Tony finally said out loud.
he'd been running away from that all day.
He was so worried about Peter.But he couldn't bare the sight of him.
They room stayed silent as they all got up and put their dishes away.
okay let's do this-
Tony said to himself getting inside the elevator
Once the Doors closed he closed his eyes and tried to calm down.
"Sir, your heartbeat has accelerated, are you in need of assistance?" F.R.I.D.A.Y asked on the way down.
"No, I'm fine Fri"
The elevator doors opened and Tony stepped outside.
He knew which room peter was in.
He headed straight for it.
On the Way he ran into Bruce.
"oh, tony, you came?" Bruce said
He looked even worse. All exhausted.
"yes. i just need to, you know? check on him. plus the others want an Update as well""sure " Bruce led Tony to Peter's room. He was about the go in their anyways.
Tony took a deep breath and entered the room.
There he was. Laying in the bed. All covered in bandages. Eyes closed. Heavy breathing.
"he's doing better " Bruce informed Tony on his way in.
"still, the wounds are not healing because of the Serum they gave him. Thats gonna take his body the normal amount of time to recover from then."Bruce explained everything to him. He gave Tony all the information he had.
"what about the cut?" Tony asked.
He remembered that Bruce said something about a cut on the back of his head the other day.
"yes. Thats where it gets interesting -Bruce started- you see? it could of course just be a wound he got in a fight or...as a punishment BUT it doesnt look like that to me. It looks like it has a purpose. Like they did something there or wanted to do something. But I couldnt find anything ""hm" Tony thought about that.
"but I mean, like you said, it could just be something they planned on doing but couldnt finish because we got there?""exactly" Bruge agreed
"but i wanna be sure""well you werent able to find anything so it probably means...""yeah. You're right. I'm gonna keep looking for today and if I dont finy any Clues...""okay"
Part of Tony wanted Bruce to keep looking. He wanted to be sure that Peter was going to be okay. but the other part of him didnt want anything to be wrong. He wanted Peter back. Without those kinda problems.
