Screw Destiny
Destiny was a weird thing.
Many people believed it held a lot of meaning, to the point believing every single thing in their life was destined to happen.
Norman knew it was illogical but he couldn't deny that he used to believe in it too, even if just a little.
Back when he was at Grace Field, young and oblivious to so much.
He had and everyone else all believed they were destined to lives of warmth and happiness together and later with new families.
Then he and Emma found out the truth behind their happy little world and destiny changed again and again.
Destined to die.
Destined to escape.
Destined to die to help the others escape.
Destined to be a lab-rat until Peter Ratri and the Lambda scientists saw no use in him anymore.
Still, there was one reason why Norman had never accepted any of these.
Emma.
Ever since he was little Norman had admired the girl to the point where he fell in love with her.
He loved her bright and cheerful attitude, how she cared more about others than herself and how stubborn she could be if it meant helping someone else.
She didn't accept any destiny other than being happy with her family so Norman didn't either.
He did everything he could to change each so called 'destiny' that came at him because just like Emma he wouldn't accept them.
The only destiny he would accept was them being together.
He managed to find Emma, Ray and the others and in turn they saved him from himself.
Yet, just when they all thought they'd be together he and the others learned how Emma had sacrificed herself for their sake, getting herself separated.
Norman right away refused to accept it and went to work with Ray with making plans to find her.
Only they didn't have much luck.
For two years long they searched and searched all over the world, following many trails and hints by people but never succeeding.
"Could it be... that even thought she's in this world, we're destined to never see her again?" Lannion had asked after they had hit another dead end.
The question had made many others cry out but in his heart Norman felt himself starting to wonder if the younger boy was right.
'No!'
Emma would never give up so he wouldn't either, especially when Gilda came with the suggestion of searching "Forbidden zones", hence bringing everyone new hope.
Together they all spread out again, unanimously swearing that even if they were destined to never see Emma again, they would keep searching.
They'd beat this destiny too.
They did find Emma.
They finally found her but without her memories.
It turned out that had been the reward the demon took to allow them to go to the human world.
One would think it would be their final destiny.
To live, knowing Emma didn't remember them and that she would continue on with her live without them.
Norman was just glad to see the girl who meant more than anything to him was alright, happy and healthy.
Really he was but still he couldn't help but feel sad.
In the end he wanted nothing more than to live with his Emma and the thought of not being able to do that hurt more then anything.
He poured out his heart as he told her this, even i she didn't understand.
Then Emma started suddenly crying.
"I feel like I've always wanted to see you!" she cried and Norman and everyone else looked up.
Wiping his tears Norman decided he wasn't gonna care anymore about if something was destined to happen.
Taking her hands in his he truly smiled again for the first time in years.
"Let's live together!" he said.
"Okay!"
Screw accepting destiny or defying!
Screw destiny itself!
They were finally together and gonna make their own destiny!
The End
