It was just another summer's day in Washington DC. Ava was just grabbing some groceries on her way home from her new job as the director of the newly formed Temporal Integrity Commission when her time courier decided to crap out on her and she found herself lugging around nearly 40 pounds worth of groceries through public transportation during rush-hour after failing to find to single empty taxi to flag-down and refusing to pay the extortionate surge-pricing fare for an Uber.
Suffice to say she was a bit disheveled when she finally got back to her townhouse in Georgetown. She dumped all the groceries on the kitchen counter, half-stumbled her way towards the living room, and dramatically collapsed onto the couch, burying her face into a cushion and letting out a sound muffled sound that sounded something in-between a groan and a sigh of relief.
Sara looked up from the magazine she was reading, pretending that she didn't find exhausted Ava maybe a little adorable and kinda hot."Long day at work Aves?"
Face still buried in the cushion, Ava let out another muffled sound before looking up at Sara sitting cross-legged next to her, sitting up, and giving her a quick peck on the lips before finally settling into a comfortable position next to the former assassin. "Not exactly honey" She responded tiredly.
Sara placed the magazine on the coffee table, enveloped Ava in a loving embrace, held her while she rested her head on Sara's shoulder, and listened to her rant about her little misadventure through the hell-hole that was the Washington DC Metro system while she slowly stroked her fingers through the other blonde's hair.
Zoning-out for a second, Sara started thinking about how... domestic and stable her life has become, it was almost unbelievable that she was just some drifter moping somewhere in Tibet just under a decade ago. She now had a loving girlfriend who she has been dating for nearly five years and intent to spend the rest of her life with, a pretty sweet house in a neighborhood nicer than any other she had ever lived in before, hell, she even has a six-figure job with a matching 401k and health insurance, which would've been like "WOAH" to her just five years ago.
Speaking of work, Sara thought about how much things have changed for the Legends. The team was still together, now under the Temporal Commission as "contractors" and "consultants", although nowadays they only get called in like once or twice a month for a mission so it really felt more like a part-time job no matter how much her paychecks like to imply otherwise... not that Sara's complaining.
And then there's Ava, she takes a quick look at her waving her hands around like a madman in her arms, ranting on about some guy who aggressively pushed her while getting off the train and she suddenly gets this intense fuzzy feeling in her chest and abdomen that makes her want to hold her tighter and never let go, it's a feeling that makes her want to protect her from all the evil in the world, something that makes her want to share every good thing she owns with her. Sara has never felt this way about anyone else, not even Nyssa, and truth be told she was terrified when she experienced it for the first time on their first date in back in Star City 2018, but when she saw Ava spiralling in hurt and self doubt after returning from 2213 and realizing that she was a clone… Sara knew that she wanted to be there for her for the rest of her life, that's when she knew that she wanted to be the one who will always stand by and support her, that's when Sara Lance knew that she will love Ava Sharpe for the rest of her life.
"... I mean seriously, think we need to buy a car, I mean, not that-"
Sara snapped out of her daydream with the sudden silence and looked down at Ava who now had a teasing smirk on her face.
"You were having another one of your daydreams again weren't you?"
Sara simply chuckled, placed her hands on Ava's cheeks, and brought her in for a long, loving kiss.
"I love you Ava"
"I love you Sara"
