A/N- I've had this story in my head for a very long while, but my computer took a massive dump and I lost literally EVERYTHING, including Chapter 14 and the first half of 15. In the meantime, while I re-write those chapters in my head, I'll give you this little side story, which also works on it's own, and that is why I never wrote it into the main story. It fits between chapters 9 and 10 of A Farmgirl's Hero. Enjoy!

CHAPTER 1

"Link, where do you think we should have our wedding?" Malon asked Link while they were sitting down for lunch.

"Well, I think the Forest Temple would be the best place for our wedding. After all, Saria can't leave the forest, and I would love for her to witness our marriage. What did you have in mind?"

"I was thinking we could have a traditional wedding at the Temple of Time, but a winter festival themed wedding at the Forest Temple would be beautiful! I love that idea!"

"Great! I'll have to talk to the Great Deku Tree for his permission, as I'm not sure if all the Hyrulian races are allowed in the forest...but we'll plan on the Forest Temple as the site. I'll have to get the Deku Tree to approve of the stairs to the Temple being rebuilt, as well. The original stairs were destroyed in the Great War years ago," Link explained, seeing Malon's eyebrow raised at the mention of stairs needing replacement.

"Is the Forest Temple structurally sound enough to hold a wedding there?" Malon asked in a worried tone.

Link waved her off. "Oh, yeah. Place is in as good of shape as Hyrule Castle's North Wing. Except the roof doesn't have any holes in it. A little cleaning up of the dust and Keese and Bubbles, and it'll be perfect!"

"...Bubbles, Link? There are flaming skulls in that place?!" Malon was horrified.

"Well, yeah, most abandoned places where battles took place are haunted by Bubbles," Link explained.

"I...suppose? Just be careful, Link. I don't want to lose you before we get married," Malon said, clearly afraid for her fiance's safety.

"Don't worry. I'm not even sure the Great Deku Tree will even let us in there. I'll go ask him after lunch," Link shrugged.

After lunch, Link helped clear the table and kissed Malon on the cheek.

"I'll be back soon, honey. I'm taking Epona," Link said as he walked out the door.

"Ok, sweet heart. Hurry back!" Malon smiled.

Link rode Epona across Hyrule Field, and stopped at the entrance to Kokiri Forest. He dismounted, and walked into the log, and across the bridge.

"Hey, Link! No Malon?" Saria said, sounding worried. "Is Malon ok? Where is she? Why isn't she with you? Did you two have a fight? Is that why you're here?"

"Ha ha, no Saria, nothing like that," Link chuckled. "I have business with the Great Deku Tree regarding our wedding. I'd like for you and the rest of our friends to attend our wedding," Link explained.

"Oh, how wonderful! But we can't leave the forest, Link. You know that..." Saria started.

Link interrupted. "Which is why I want to get married in the Forest Temple. However, the stairs need rebuilding first, and I'm not sure if everyone on the guest list is allowed in the forest, so I need to clear these details with the Great Deku Tree,"

"OH! That makes perfect sense! Go talk to the Great Deku Tree then, and tell me what he says!" Saria cheered.

Link ran to the Deku Tree's grotto, and before he could say anything...

"THOU HAST COME TO DISCUSS GRAVE MATTERS, INDEED!? SILENCE! DO NOT SPEAK! THOU HAST THOUGHTS LOUDER THAN THE THUNDER! Erhum, sorry for shouting. Could not hear mine own voice over thine thoughts," the Great Deku Tree stated.

"Since you know what I'm going to ask, Great Deku Tree, what answer do you have for me?" Link meekly asked.

"Ah, child...yes, of course thou may continue with thine plans. Indeed, many moons have passed since the Fortress of the Wood, as it was once known, hath been used for worldly purposes. As for visitors...nay, not one Hyrulian hath been banned from entering these woods. Indeed, the Zora and Goron tribe each have their own entrances to the path leading to the Forest Temple, as it is now known. The Gerudo are certainly most welcome, as they hath turned away from the ways of Gannondorf. Aye, the task ahead is wrought with hard labor and danger...thou must rebuild the stairway, and defeat the evil creatures which reside within the walls. A small task for one such as thyself," the Great Deku Tree explained.

"Thank you Great Deku Tree. This means everything to Malon and myself. Thank you so much!" Link responded, leaving the grotto.

Saria was waiting at the entrance to the grotto. "Well? What did he say?! Are you getting married in the Forest Temple?"

"Yep! You and the rest of our friends can be there!" Link smiled.

"YAY! I'm so happy! See you soon, Link!" Saria waved as Link headed to the Lost Woods.

Link went into the Lost Woods, and was looking for a particular tree trunk tunnel.

'Let's see, nope, not this one...not here, either...ok, here's the Zora's Domain entrance pond thingie, so it should be...'

"BINGO!" Link ran into Goron city, down the stairs and into Darunia's room.

"Link! What brings you here on this fine day?" Darunia greeted.

"I need a favor as your Sworn Brother," Link started.

"Anything! Name it!" Darunia gleefully shouted.

"I need some stone, preferably granite, brought to the Forest Temple. The stairs need to be rebuilt," Link explained.

"HAW HAW HAW! Now why would you want to do a thing like that for?" Darunia laughed.

"That's going to be the site of Malon and I's wedding. It needs to be accessible," Link explained.

"I will do it on one condition..." Darunia glared.

"Name it," Link retorted.

"I get to be your best man and plan your bachelor party," Darunia folded his arms.

"Deal!" Link snapped, holding out his hand for Darunia to shake.

"Perfect! I'll let Medigoron know that he has work to do!" Darunia agreed, and shook Link's hand carefully.

'Oh, that throbs! I wish Gorons weren't so strong! Now, to go back to the ranch and tell Malon the good news!'

"Link, what happened to your hand?" Malon asked, looking at Link's purple hand, wrist, and lower forearm.

"Shook hands with Darunia. Gonna be sore for a while. On the plus side, we have the Forest Temple, and it will soon have stairs..." Link shrugged.

"Oh that's great, Link! I just got back from ordering a dress, myself! Hope you don't mind that it cost 1,500 rupees..." Malon started.

"Pfft, not at all!" Link replied. "Your dress is like the most important part of your wedding, so I've been told, so why not?" 'It's not like we didn't make 1,500 rupees last week in profits, anyway'.

"Oh, Link...thank you. For being with me. For the rest of our lives," Malon tried to hold back tears of joy as she hugged her fiance.

"Thank you for having me, my love," Link held her until she stopped crying. They kissed and separated, then Malon started dinner while Link went out to work on evening farm duties.
