Hello there, It's breeze.

I do think that Krillin and 18 have the most genuine relationship. Sadly we do not have enough material that covers the 7 year gap between the Cell saga and the Buu saga. (Well I do consider the Bojack movie as part of the timeline. It still has no K18 though.)

But there is a ton of fan material out there, so I said why not make one too lol. Well I'm not a professional writer, but I hope my skills progress as the story progresses.

So here I am trying to make my version of how Krillin and 18 got together in the show's timeline.

I'll try to make it as close to canon as possible.

Disclaimer: I do not own DBZ.

Enjoy and don't hesitate to leave a review.

CHAPTER 1:

Ever since the defeat of Cell a few days ago, Krillin had made the habit of lying on the roof, just contemplating the night's sky, lost in his thoughts.

Master Roshi had told him that he had mistaken his shiny bald head for the moon at least five times.

But Krillin just shrugged it off.

It's not like master Roshi wasn't bald as well.

Deep down, his old master only tried to cheer him up. He couldn't find a way to express his concern to Krillin. Roshi hoped that it was only a matter of time before his student would get back to his normal self.

These last days weren't going so smooth for Krillin. He was quite overwhelmed with feelings and guilt had become a part of his daily life.

The feeling of emptiness inside of him could only be filled with Goku's presence. But his friend was long gone, and he would never see him again. Not in this life anyway...

Goku taught him that everyone deserves a second chance. Perhaps that is why Krillin chose to save her. Or was there more into it?

He wouldn't admit it but that moment on the highway had taken over his mind. It made him realize that she was still human.

He stayed by her side at her most vulnerable, when his friends had told him to abandon her.

His face had shown signs of joy when she was finally awake, but they were quickly replaced by those of sadness as she started screaming at him.

She affirmed that she didn't need his help.

And she just... left.

What did he do wrong? He had hoped for an answer, the one he will most likely never have.

Sometimes he would ask himself if it was worth it to save her. After all, he believed that his decision had resulted in the death of his best friend.

He let out a sigh as he closed his eyes. He started thinking about his childhood all of a sudden, of all the good times he had been through during his training with Goku at master Roshi's. He couldn't help but smile at these.

The memories didn't seem to stop coming, as he was now remembering his time as a monk in the Orin temple. A time he would gladly forget. He really hated it. But he couldn't deny that some of the life lessons he learned there weren't useful.

Krillin's eyes widened for a second. He was determined to get rid of his overwhelming feelings by any means possible. And perhaps the monks' way would do the trick.

He wasn't very fond of all of their mores. But some of their teachings could help him on his way to recovery.

He had nothing to lose. So, it was only fair that he tried.

'Piccolo could be a good example to follow.'

Krillin chuckled while picturing himself in Namekian clothes with Piccolo's temper.

He gazed at the stars and he stopped thinking for a couple moments. His smile faded, as he quickly flew from the roof into his room. He grabbed some clothes and vitals placing them in his backpack. He took all of his emergency Zeni and left the house, while master Roshi and Oolong were sound asleep.

He flew away from Kame island, slowly disappearing into the darkness of the night.

With the first lights of dawn, the short man had reached the mainland.

He chose to settle in the high mountains, as a way to avoid seeing his friends anytime soon.

Once at the foot of the mountains, Krillin started ascending in the air as a way to check his surroundings.

The soft sounds of trickling water, along with the small breeze had created a peaceful vibe that made it the perfect spot for meditation. And the view was mesmerizing as well. The grand valley ahead left him speechless.

He sat on top of a small hill where a waterfall had formed, facing the ocean, as he prepared to enter in a meditative state. He started emptying his mind of all of his overwhelming feelings.

Whilst monks seek out spiritual enlightenment, Krillin was only seeking his inner peace.

'One's self is their greatest enemy.' his monk masters used to tell him.

It may sound simple. But simple doesn't really imply easy. You can't just forget about your own self.

Krillin breathed rather heavily as he opened his eyes. He couldn't get rid of all what was inside of him. He didn't let it bother him too much, as he decided to stay in this place until he is at peace with himself.

He decided that after his meditation session, he would shadow spar and exercise for half an hour. Just a way for him to stay in shape, since there was no real point in getting stronger. Krillin was already the strongest human, and the little Gohan was a hundred times more powerful than him.

The hardest pill he had to swallow was accepting that he wasn't going to be needed in saving the world anymore.

Krillin layed on the ground as soon as he finished exercising. A sudden noise startled him. He grinned, looking at his stomach.

'Seems like it wasn't only my mind that was getting empty huh?' He thought to himself.

He figured that he would pay a nearby village a visit, and get himself a nice meal from there.

He made his way back from the village with a bunch of rice balls, and some fruits. The rice balls were better than he expected. He was satisfied with what he had for lunch. But that satisfaction slowly faded, as his shallow feelings took over once again. He went back to meditation, in hopes to find an answer within him.

I was about to make the chapter longer, but I felt like it was gonna have a lot of philosophy and that would make it so boring. lol

Hope you did like it.

Guess the drama starts next chapter *evil laugh*

Looking forward to exploring more of Krillin's monks past!
